How much great targeted conent do we need to add?
-
Hi,
I'm adding content to a client's website through textbroker. It's ecommerce and it's tough to find backlinks. We have decided to write 100 articles of at least 500 words so that we can say in our backlink campaign email that we have 100 helpful articles. We're thinking that people would like that.
Also, we think that 100 good helpful articles will give us traffic and natural backlinks.
How do we know if 100 is enough? Do we need 200? 500?
Thanks.

You can make "how to use" articles without videos. Most of ours don't have a video - but great photos are really important, IMO.
We upload the files to a folder titled /tips/. Each article gets a very obvious link from product pages. The are also linked to from a "you might like these" box on related article pages.
We also have an FAQ page that is a huge list of links to "how to use" articles.
How many? I write a couple "how to use" articles every week and have a huge list of ones that are needed.
The topics are often driven by customer questions that we get by email. We write the article, post it, and send the customer a link.
-
Wow EGOL, that's great.
We're putting together 5 articles 5000-15000 words.
How do I incorporate "how to use articles" like yours without video? How many "how to use" articles do I include in addition to the 5 long articles, and where on an ecommerce site do you place the "how to use" articles, if not on an article page with the 5 articles.
I hope you don't mind the questions. Your strategy is fantastic.
-
I have "how to use" articles for many of the products that I sell. These often have a video, several photos, sometimes a chart.
I don't go out looking for links to these articles. I simply post them on the site and people link to them from blogs, forums, facebook, etc. Recent links from marthastewart, dremel, cracked, and other sites appeared with no work from us.
I spend zero time linkbuilding and 100% of my time content building.
Every page of content that I add to the site pulls in more traffic from search and accumulates links, likes, etc slowly.
It's all progress if you do a great job on the article.
If you have a popular product and you make the best-on-the-web guide to using it you have a great chance of earning links with zero work.

Alot more goes into it<<
What goes into it and where do I learn about it?
-
EGOL,
Makes sense. What about product articles. Should we pick 5 or 10 top products and write long, lengthy fantastic articles about them?
Also, how do I find out who I want to link to them (target audience)
-
Alot more goes into it but yes - First look what type of content they post/link to that they dont make so you have an idea of what you need to make.
-
So I would take the top informational searches in my industry along with analysis of companies that I want natural backlinks from and create a very long piece of content that is the best? Is that correct? Am I off in anyway?
Then how do I push this content?
Thanks David.
-
From What it sounds like you are going about this all wrong stop thinking like a 2011 seo - Its not about quantity its about making one piece of content so great and graphically appealing & targeted to who you think will post it and then pushing it as hard as you can. Then step back and see where you had success a repeat with your new found knowledge.

_There are thousands of ecommerce websites doing exactly the same thing, so how on earth your website is going to rank high leave aside getting natural links? Moreover, I am really concerned about the quality of the write-ups? Do they read good? Are they offering any interesting perspective? Do readers find them usual? I hope not. When you are restricting the word count to 500 words – a sweet SEO spot for majority of SEO companies, it leaves little room to the writers to go crazy with it, leaving aside doing proper market research.
rather than focusing on adding low quality content, why not come up with a 2000 words well researched content that people would love to share with their friends. _
-
Based on an analysis I just conducted limited to the category I compete in, the Google algo, which orginally focused on links has been turned upside down, and is now giving more weight to content than to links. However, I doubt the depth of content matters as much as how directly it relates to visitor's quiries. Will your site provide the best source of content related to your targetted keywords?
-
I would focus on very small numbers.
I would identify the five most important articles that will educate the clients potential customers. These articles will demonstrate how to utilize, select, enjoy, repair, obtain value from the client's current products.
Then I would have the client create those articles instead of sending them out to people who know nothing about his business or his customers or his products. If he can't write these I would go straight to an expert in his product niche.
These should be best-on-the-web articles for their respective subjects.
ONE great article can attract hundreds of links. Five hundred crappy articles will make his competitors laugh.

Rankings drop after https migration [Need urgent help]
hey hi guys, i have lost all my organic traffic and in need of urgent help. Plz i need all your SEO expertise. My website is: makemoneyadultcontent.com (before judging me, let me tell you that i have been in adult industry for almost 7 years now and hence this blog was a way to pass my knowledge to everyone who is looking for it) Recently i saw that moving to HTTPS will benefit my site. I did not knew much about technical details of moving to https. My hosting was on siteground, and they have a button which you can press and your website will then be served through https. So i did that. Nothing else was done. this was done on 13th or 14th of june For the next few weeks here is my analytics (image attached) : As you can see the traffic fluctuated and finally i lost everything on 29th june. When i researched more, i found out that you need to follow many steps in order to move to HTTPS. So i followed this guide and completed all the steps: https://www.keycdn.com/blog/http-to-https/ (also checked many other guides and tried to complete all the steps mentioned) Everyone said that the rankings will recover in one week, but now it has been more than 17 days and still the rankings have not improved. My articles are indexed as i can see it using site:makemoneyadultcontent.com but none of them are ranking for the keywords that i was ranking earlier. i have submitted the sitemap in google webmaster and around 166 (out of 218) pages are indexed. Here are few more images to help my case: plz plz help me what i can do to get my website traffic back. i have spent a lot of time and effort in building this site, cant see it die a slow death like this one. 8Wa8c [http ahref](http ahref) D42xw sAd9E

Need help in de-indexing URL parameters in my website.
Hi, Need some help.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | ImranZafar
So this is my website _https://www.memeraki.com/ _
If you hover over any of the products, there's a quick view option..that opens up a popup window of that product
That popup is triggered by this URL. _https://www.memeraki.com/products/never-alone?view=quick _
In the URL you can see the parameters "view=quick" which is infact responsible for the pop-up. The problem is that the google and even your Moz crawler is picking up this URL as a separate webpage, hence, resulting in crawl issues, like missing tags.
I've already used the webmaster tools to block the "view" parameter URLs in my website from indexing but it's not fixing the issue
Can someone please provide some insights as to how I can fix this?0 -
Client WIll Not Rank for Targeted KW Terms
Good Morning Mozzers, I am at a total loss. I have been working with a client in a "difficult" (to say the very least) vertical for roughly the past two years and for the life of me, cannot get these clients to rank within the top 3 for the targeted keyword terms. It seems that every time our targeted keyword begin to gain a little bit of traction and improve their ranking position, it is immediately followed by the same keywords plummeting shortly thereafter. I have done everything (in my mind) I can to try and get this client's keyword terms to rank, everything from revising the on-/off-page content, building citations, submitting the site to services like Yext, advertising on AdWords and Yelp, etc. but it doesn't seem to make any significant difference. I'm hoping that someone can offer some guidance into how I can get these clients to start ranking highly for the targeted keyword terms because I'm at a complete loss. I look forward to all of your responses! Thank you for reading. If you'd like to check out the site, the URL is: www.lawtonmd.com

301 Externally Linked, But Non-Producing Pages, To Productive Pages Needing Links?
I'm working on a site that has some non-productive pages without much of an upside potential, but that are linked-to externally. The site also has some productive pages, light in external links, in a somewhat related topic. What do you think of 301ing the non-productive pages with links to the productive pages without links in order to give them more external link love? Would it make much of a difference? Thanks... How do I add https version of site to Bing webmaster tools?
I could add my site to Google Webmaster tools with no problems, but when I try to add it in Bing webmaster tools it just redirects me to what I already have. Everything is staying the same but the switch from http to https. Anyone else experienced this? This is what I just received back from Bing and it doesn't seem right- I understand that you switched to the https version of your site and you're now trying to use the Site Move tool. However, in order to do this, you must verify the https version of your site first. You cannot do this because it just redirects you to the dashboard. We thank you for reporting this to us. We've investigated on this matter and can see that you're already put a redirect from the http to the https version of your site. We also checked the /BingSiteAuth.xml file and this also redirects to the https version. At this point, we suggest that you remove the current website (http version) that is verified through Bing Webmaster Tool and add your https domain. When done, use the Site Move tool. Thoughts?

Need to know if this could be dangerous
We have recently launched an store, and we had created 301 redirects from the old product pages to the new ones. But we found that the new website performance was a quite slow, and that it would improve a lot if you add a number at the end of the product page url. But that implies to change the 301 redirect and to add a new one for the pages that has already been updated by the search engine. I mean. www.store.com/oscommerce/catalog/productpage.html has been now 301 redirected to www.store.com/sectionname/productpage this was 48 hours ago. But now, (I know it, we should check this before...) we need to change the url to www.store.com/sectionname/productpage/5487 this way the performance improves a lot. But we are afraid of doing two 301 in just 48 hours. any advice?
