Google Analytics tracking code for completely new website
-
Hello!
I use Google Analytics to monitor our company's websites. In the coming weeks we will roll out a brand new website for one of our brands to replace its current site. The domain name will remain the same.
My question is, should I use the same tracking code that's been used on the existing site for the new site, or is there a benefit to creating a new tracking code?
Thanks in advance!

GWT is based on domains so you shouldn't have to do anything to it. Just do a quick audit to see if your sitemaps URL changed.

This also brings Google Webmaster Tools to mind. Is there a best practice for that? Is it adding an entirely new site, or just updating the existing site on Webmaster Tools?
Thanks again!

Thank you, gentlemen!

To add to what Irving said, use the same GA account, but grab the latest code for that account. You'll want all the data in one account. Don't forget to create a new annotation so you can quickly remember when you launched the new site, and see what happens easily from that point forward (and backwards).

I would use the latest version of the code. Google has updated the code so it loads quicker and runs asynchronous.
I quote Google:
The latest version of the Analytics tracking code offers an improved way to track website visitors with Google Analytics. It takes advantage of browser support for asynchronous JavaScript to enhance the speed in which the tracking code is loaded. With the latest version of the tracking code, you can also place the Analytics snippet higher in the page without delaying subsequent content from rendering.
Although asynchronous tracking uses a different Analytics snippet and a different syntax for tracking calls than the traditional snippet, it supports the exact same tracking customizations as the traditional snippet. In fact, the asynchronous tracking syntax is also more flexible than the traditional snippet. For more details, see the Usage Guide.

Google Analytics - Referral traffic being reported as Direct traffic
Hi, I have a link on my www homepage to another subdomain website. Both websites are served on https, and have independent Google Analytics properties. However, the traffic from the www site to the subdomain site is being reported as Direct, and not Referral traffic. Any ideas why? See image provided for context... RCn6HER

How To Stop Google's "Fetch & Render" From Showing Up In Google Analytics
Hi all, Within Google's "Fetch & Render" (found in Google Search Console) is the ability to index certain pages from my website on-demand. Unfortunately, every time I ask Google to index a page, it registers as a bounce in Google Analytics. Also, if it means anything, my website (www.knowtro.com) is a single-page application, functioning similarly to Google. If you guys know of any solution to this problem, please help! I originally thought that Google would know to block its own Fetch & Render crawler from Google Analytics but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks, Austin

Google Analytics Content Experiments
Has anyone else found that Google Analytics Content Experiments seems to quite quickly favor the best performing variant in an experiment, and then show that variant many times more often than other/s - not split the traffic evenly? What is Google's thinking behind 'optimizing' during an experiment? It seems odd to me.
