Same SEO Impact for: ''blog.domaine.com/'' and ''domaine.com/blog/

I would like to add a WordPress blog to my online store.
My shopping cart is BigCommerce.
My store URL is: http://www.furnacefilterscanada.com
I know the ''BEST'' option will be to have a blog like this: http://www.furnacefilterscanada.com/blog/
But I don't thing it is possible on BigCommerce platforme.
If I can have a blog with this sub-domaine:
http://www.blog.furnacefilterscanada.com will it be a efficient for SEO?
Thank you,
BigBlaze

I agree with EGOL and Takeshi. If you want your blog to work and you have a content strategy in place where you will be adding a lot of useful content and you would want that content to rank by itself, I would try to put it on the domain.com/blog. Now you know that already, that's why you asked the question.
**One solution you might have is to find out if bigcommerce can do Reverse Proxy. That way a domain could be hosted at anywhere.whateverdomain.com but to the search engines and everything else it will appear as yourdomain.com/blog. **
The reason a lot of these hosted platforms do not allow wordpress is because of security issues. They then have another piece of software / files / plugins in the same environment which is sometimes a threat.

There is another approach to this and that's to "embed" the blog within your site. I don't know Big Commerce, so I don't know how terrible it would be to do, but I did it on my PHP site and it wasn't terribly painful. I actually have two Word Press sites embedded within my overall site structure and it's all pretty seamless.
Instructions on how to build the "template" to match your site can be found here:
http://www.nubaria.com/en/blog/?p=14
(I can't remember exactly where I read my instructions but it seems pretty spot on).
My embedded blog(s) (there are 2 separate Word Press blogs) can be seen here:
www.morningsiderecovery.com/blog/
www.morningsiderecovery.com/news/
Putting Yost's SEO plug-in seemed to really get me some quick rankings, so I'd Google "best SEO Word Press" to find recommendations on what to put in your Word Press installation. I think there are about 10 plug-ins that are definite recommends.
Best of success to you.

If I was going to put my good work into a blog, I would not have it on a subdomain.
I would dump BigCommerce.
Sorry... it is much easier to get another shopping solution than it is for me to put my great content out there and get fractional value out of it.
However, if I really liked BC I would see if somebody somewhere knew how to work around this to get my blog into the valuable folder position that it deserves through a technical trick.
There are lots of great shopping carts out there but only one blog written by me.
Tell the boss at BC that his solution is limiting.

The only problem is that subdomains (blog.domain.com) are treated as separate sites by Google in many respects. So even if you get a lot of links to blog.domain.com, that link value may not pass on to your main domain. Including links from your subdomain to your main site can help you to get some of the link value over to your main domain.

I have a blog as part of my business website...when I make a blog post, should I ALWAYS include a link in that post back to another page on my website? What are the effects of posting on a blog site using copied content from your site if you source the site on the blog site?
I have noticed that some of my pages from my site are posted to different blog sites and directory submissions they are word for word what is on my site but at the bottom of the page it does list my site as the source and there are links in the text back to my site. Is this going to negatively effect my rankings or is it ok since my site is sourced in the article?

New sister site VS site redesign and dangers of SEO dilution??
Hi I’ve got a site that is ranking #2 in my area for my chosen keyword but the site is in need of an expansion and overhaul its only one page at the moment and to rank for more keywords its need to be expanded. Or another option is I do own another domain and I was thinking of maybe instead of overhauling the new site launching that as a sister company aimed more at the corporate market, as my first site is a bit more alternative in domain name and content. The thing is i'm not sure how this will affect my SEO they will be on the same CBlock and be offering similar services.

SEO for a Deal Blog
Hi, I have a deal blog that is several months old. My established and successful "competitors" have a high Domain Authority (43, 46, 63) but most of their blog posts are very short. Our readers want to know about the coupon, deal, discount, code etc - they don't want 250 + words for each post. However I am concerned that lots of short posts will label my blog as low quality and that Google Panda will get me. My competitors easily get on page 1 of google. Yes they also write articles but majority of their posts are short. I deindexed quite a few short blog posts but my audience googles for coupons and deals like crazy. I try to give as much info as I can without being wordy and annoying but sometimes that still gets me only 100 words. I also write a lot of articles relevant to my niche (mom/baby/maternity) that are high quality and several hundred words. Just looking for input on deal blog SEO. Thanks!

Blog Influencer's tool
Hi Mozzers, Can you help me with something please. I need a tool (preferably free or low cost) to find a list of influencers (blog or some types of publication) in a particular marketplace. Step 2 would be to see if we can then syndicate content but I need to find them first. Obviously there Google blog finder and general searches, I've used other tools in the past but a long time ago - what are people using now and what's the best? Thanks B

Blog SEO Strategy
The current SEO strategy for my company blog is to include a percentage of short tail keywords in each blog post, and not to link to the main site because they are concerned with diluting the blog. I would like to change the strategy and instead use the blog to promote long tail keywords by having each entry focus on around a different long tail keyword. I would also like to use the short-tail keywords for internal linking to strengthen our important pages with keyword rich anchor text (no more than 1 link per 100 words). I would love the advice of the SEOMoz community about which strategy is more effective (or if there is something else entirely we should be doing). Thanks!
