Do these types of profile links gets indexed typically?
-
Recently set up some profile links on high domain authority sites like Twellow and Manta - could I get some opinions on whether these links typically get indexed and pass value please?
Also any tips on how to find profile links that do pass value?
-
Gosh..thank you very much for all this. Super helpful info!

To determine whether the profile links are indexed, do a site search using your profile link on Twellow or Manta. I picked a random business on Manta "Romana Cake House"
Attached is a screenshot of the site search which shows that the page is in Google's index.
The second screenshot shows a brand search (history disabled, incognito) for "Romana Cake House" and it shows the Manta listing on the first page.
Any of these listings will most certainly strengthen your NAP (name, address, phone number) and help with local search results for your business.
Do these profile links pass value?
I ran the profile link through open site explorer and that page does have page authority and the link to the company's website on that page DOESN'T contain a "no follow" tag, so the profile link is saying, in a way, "I vouch for this business"
You should also see if you get any referral traffic from these sites in your Web Analytics tools, but so far, with Manta at least it looks like the right move, especially if it can get you a SERP on the front page for your business name that could push down another, not so nice listing about your business.
Hope that helps.

I know that a lot of these links are no-followed, however one thing that we always stress with all of our clients if they are going to be on any network from Manta to Facebook, is that they have a clean and accurate profile and actively update them at least once a week. This show's not just Manta that we're using it for value but it shows users that we're actually on the social network and not just a spammer trying to get links.
Remember the one core thing to Google is they like fresh content and they like content that is not spammy, so the goal should always be to look as if "human" as possible. We believe that social profiles that are updated regularly do factor into the algorithm and increase the positioning of that social account, thus giving more value to it's links. Again, no scientific research has been done...but it's a general belief that we have.

Relaunching a site that has had thousands of posts linking to the same 20 articles. How to properly setup internal linking?
I'm in the process of relaunching a music news site (www.prefixmag.com) that once did quite well in search (over a million monthly search visits in its prime). The site got crushed by Panda, etc. and we stopped updating it. I'm starting to do more research but one thing that I noticed was we have modules in the right rail (desktop) that are found on all of our article pages that point to the same posts. (Edit: Added attachment. The links in the right rail under Editor Picks, Features, News, Media, etc. are found on every page of the site). In other words, we have thousands of posts that all link to the same 20 or so articles. Should we not do this if we're not trying to emphasize these posts in Google? Assuming this is the case, what is the proper way to do internal linking? Do we simply setup a sitemap and link to it? I'm hoping to have the thousands of articles we've published over the years have a chance to rank in search again. Also, we have a number of posts that are thin in content should those pages not be submitted in the sitemap? Thanks in advance! 2KmX0

How vital is it to get rid of spam links?
We have about 40, between 1-4 flags. Do you see this as a problem? We looked at the disavow feature, but it seems you need to be cautious about using it. Please advise. Thanks!

Where would we get the most bang for the buck? Fresh Content, Internal Links, or Schemas & Metatags
We cannot change the content on our website. And we have a lot of it. Where would we get the most bang for our buck: Adding lots of fresh content; Linking Content Internally in ways that make the relationship between the content more clear; Creating schemas and metatags for the content. Or something else that we haven't thought of. Our content is not really conducive to social. It is legal information. We have a Domain Authority of 61 / 100 Your help and experience is appreciated.

Which is better - A) links from multiple IP addresses, or B) Links with more associated social signals?
If you had to choose: A) 100 links contained in posts on 100 PR2* blogs, all on separate IP addresses, where none of the posts had associated social signals, or B) 100 links contained in posts within a single PR2* blog (single IP address), where each of the posts had 20 associated social signals, Which would you choose to increase your SERP performance? *I chose PR2 so that PageRank would not be a factor in the decision.

Internal Linking - 100 plus links
Hi Everyone, I have a question of how the on-page links are being counted. Say you have a page with a warning of having too many on page links (100+). How are all of these links counted? Let's say there are only 5 links on that page. Do the links on each of those pages count too and so on and so forth? I just want to make sure I have wrapped my head around this correctly. Thanks!

Link building
I have two separate websites on different servers and was wondering that since reciprocal links effectively eliminate each other, I'm curious if this link strategy will keep the links counting. Here's the strategy: I will have someone link to my site A and if i link to their site from my site B in a three way link strategy, will the links count even though both my site A and B have me listed as the Whois so Google knows that both sites are owned by me? Or will the links be discounted as reciprocal? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Take care, Ron
