The right way for review count?
-
Hi,
I have a question that kinda bothers me for a while now and would love to hear you guys thoughts on this matter.
One of the categories in my websites is services reviews, for example:
http://www.websiteplanet.com/review/questionform/Recently we upgraded the site and gave users the option to write their own review as well.
Now as you can see, the way it works is that we write a very big and informative/professional review ourself and in addition we give users the option to write their own reviews and share their experience with the service.
Now My question is:
There is the itemprop-review count thingy, now we did it so if 0 users wrote a review it will show 0 reviews on the count.
Is it correct? (Feel free to check the site code yourself)
Or is it wrong? because their is actually 1 review (our editors review)I hope I explained my self well...
If not, please let me know what is unclear. Thanks!

I can't see anything that specifically precludes you from counting you own review in that. However if there were a lot where the only review was you own I can see it could look like you were trying to manipulate things.
If you were doing that I would definitely include the reviewer markup as well. That would make it really clear that you were being open about the source.
This page might be useful, You've probably seen it already, but they are talking about mixed case there and seem fine with what you are suggesting:

Is there a way to tell if you were doing everything perfectly on the SEO front what your average SERP position and page views could be?
If you had optimised everything 100% on your website (keywords, links, everything), is there some tool or some way to figure out what your average SERP position could be and what volume of traffic you could be getting?

Does Google penalise in the way described in this article?
In an interesting article from January on content cannibalisation: https://ninjaoutreach.com/content-cannibalization-avoid/ there is the following paragraph: "When the same keyword is used across a number of pages of a single website, Google’s spiders automatically get directed to a page with low-grade quality which in turn results in the low ranking of all the pages on the website." Is this true? The suggestion here is that they automatically get directed there as a form of penalty. This seems like quite an extraordinary claim! Can anyone verify?

Our parent company has included their sitemap links in our robots.txt file - will that have an impact on the way our site is crawled?
Our parent company has included their sitemap links in our robots.txt file. All of their sitemap links are on a different domain and I'm wondering if this will have any impact on our searchability or potential rankings.

They are in this case so that's why would be great to include them. 2- the stars don't seem to be in html, how can we mark the stars to be indexed by google? I want to include this schema
https://developers.google.com/structured-data/rich-snippets/reviews#aggregate_ratings I don't think we would be able to full-fill these items, what do you think? <code>spanvocab="http://schema.org/"typeof="Review"> <span< span="">property="itemReviewed"typeof="Thing"> <span< span="">property="name">Super Book This is not a boook is a service, what should I put here?</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="author"typeof="Person"> <span< span="">property="name">Joe</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="reviewRating"typeof="Rating"> Rating: <span< span="">property="ratingValue">7</span<> out of <span< span="">property="bestRating">10</span<></span<> <span< span="">property="publisher"typeof="Organization"> Whato this property means? Reviews are made by customers not organizations. <meta< span="">property="name"content="Washington Times"> same as abobe, they are not publishers.</meta<></span<></code> If you could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Best way to permanently remove URLs from the Google index?
We have several subdomains we use for testing applications. Even if we block with robots.txt, these subdomains still appear to get indexed (though they show as blocked by robots.txt. I've claimed these subdomains and requested permanent removal, but it appears that after a certain time period (6 months)? Google will re-index (and mark them as blocked by robots.txt). What is the best way to permanently remove these from the index? We can't use login to block because our clients want to be able to view these applications without needing to login. What is the next best solution?

Best way to deal with multiple languages
Hey guys, I've been trying to read up on this and have found that answers vary greatly, so I figured I'd seek your expertise. When dealing with the url structure of a site that is translated into multiple languages, is it better SEO wise to structure a site like this : domain.com/en domain.com/it etc or to simply add url modifiers like domain.com/?lang=en domain.com/?lang=it In the first example, I'm afraid google might see my content as duplicate even though its in a different language.

Best way to handle old re-directs?
What happens if you go back and change old 301 re-directs? So instead of it re-directing from A to B then C, we write a new redirect for A to C. What does Google see this as next time it crawls the site?
