Campaign for pages that I want to optimize?
-
Go easy on my guys and gals. I'm brand new to the world of SEO and I'm a Realtor by trade, so this is all new to me, but exciting and fascinating at the same time. You might ask why I don't hire a company to do the SEO for me for my website at: www.DiscountRealEstateFees.com since I'm one of those Realtors who makes a ton of money every year. Unfortunately, that's not the case and some day when I've built my business to a point that I can relax and breathe easy, I will hire that company. Besides, by then, I'll be an SEO expert and be able to ride herd on them if they're not doing a good job!
My question is: Should I create a campaign on SEOMoz.org for each page on my website that I want to optimize or are the campaigns supposed to be for individual websites only?
Thanks for your help!

One of the most important things to do is to think about your business and the objectives of your SEO efforts.
If you plan well that will determine the page content on your site, the navigation structure and even the design. All of these play in concert for a winning business strategy.

Thanks for your quick response! I had a feeling that it was one campaign per website so I think the plan that I signed up for will be perfect for my business.
And I agree with you. Give me a few more months of studying and working with SEO and I probably won't ever hire a company to do it for me since the hard part will have already been done.

I use one campaign per website and it returns error check data on thousands of pages, tracks up to 250 keywords, and a lot more.
You can submit individual pages to the "On-Page Keyword Optimization Tool" for page-tweaking suggestions.
The best thing to do is experiment. You will learn a lot.
btw.... Once you learn a lot here you will probably not hire an expert because you will worry that you are smarter than he is and want to do things yourself. And, if you don't have a large number of websites SEO doesn't take a lot of time after you get the initial work done. I spend very little time on SEO.

Combine poorly ranking pages into a single page?
I'm doing on-page optimizations for an apartment management company, and they have about seven apartments listed on their site. Rather than include everything on the same page - /apartments/apartment-name/ - they have the following setup: /apartments/apartment-name/contact /apartments/apartment-name/features /apartments/apartment-name/availability /apartments/apartment-name/gallery /apartments/apartment-name/neighborhood With very few exceptions, none of these pages appear to rank for anything, and those that do either rank very poorly for seemingly random keywords or for keywords like the apartment complex name (alongside the main landing page for the complex). I'm of the mind to recommend combining the pages into a single one that contains all the info, eliminates the chances for duplicate content (all of the neighborhood pages contain the same content verbatim), and prevents keyword cannibalization. Thoughts? Thanks.

Pages I don't want
Hello Friends, A few days ago, I set up my wordpress site and everything is great so far, there's just one small problem. Wenn I search for site:mysite.com I see a lot of pages in the index I don't want to have on my site. It looks like demo pages from the theme I bought. Examples: http://mysite.com/themefusion_es_groups/group1/ http://mysite.com/slide/youtube/ http://mysite.com/lorem-ipsum-2/ http://mysite.com/slide/demo-5 What would be the best way to handle it? Simply delete the pages, then a soft 404 shows. Delete the pages and 301 them to the start page. Are they disapearing from the infex then? I am very grateful for tips regarding this! Thanks in Advance:)

Jobs listing page optimization
I've a client with a jobs page. I've found that a high traffic, low competition keyword phrase 'OH jobs' and wish to optimize appropriately. The trouble is that there is hardly any body text and any number of job entry listing. As the listing which all go to individual job description pages, naturally fit the description (part description) OH Job - would it be good to use this description within the anchor text of the links? If so is there a maximum? I've been trawling around SEOmoz and Google Search and have got more and more bogged down! ta

Hey guys! I was looking at adding the H1 tag lower on the page than the H2 tag because I want the top bit to be a call to action. Is this proper practice?

We have 5 postions on page 2 in a google search, but none on page 1\. How can we fix this?
For one of our most important key phrases we have 5 listings on page 2 but none on page 1. We are an ecommerce company, the key phrase we're trying for is a Top Level Category name for us, so the 5 links we have on googles second page for the key phrase (in order) are the appropriate top level category page, the sites home page and than three sub categories of that top level category. So while that all makes sense, can't we convince google to concentrate all that link power/juice into just the top level category page? Hopefully bumping it to first page rank? The 5 ranks are 11-15

Best SEO extension or plugin for on-page optimization
I was wondering what you guys might recommend for a browser extension or plugin that would help developers optimize each page for specific keywords. I'm looking for a tool that will give me a grade on how well it's optimized with a recommendation checklist. I would use SEOMoz's onpage analysis tool but it doesn't have access to my private development environment (hence the need for a plugin.) Recommendations? Thanks!
