Will you show a case study/live analytics of Moz before and after name change?
-
so many people are interested these days in changing domains either for branding purposes like you did or some people believe that having an exact match domain will save the day.
I believe posting any knowledge you have gained through your fantastic looking analytics system could shed light on a subject so many people seem to be asking about.
Some things I would love to know regarding the amount of people that you have either gained or lost through organic search along with your ranking for the term "seo" And other things you guys must be learning along the way as well. I would also like to know your opinion of having a meter of some sort tell us just how many new people type in Moz vs seomoz I tink it would be a great topic for people to learn about branding from as well as a way to show off your new analytics.
Fellow Mozers to you agree or not? ( I now see all the little tricks you guys have been putting in our head by never using seo in branding for a long time aside from of course your name)
Great job on the transition.
Sincerely,
Thomas
PS. Did Roger get a new coat of paint or did you just take him to the car wash?

Hi Martijn,
I am extremely happy you feel the same way. I would really like to see a real-time analytics update running the companies if it does not harm Moz in any way shape or form. For instance I get Hubspot, Kissmetrics and Google analytics updates every day. I know that the product they're working on for analytics is awesome everything they've done has been spectacular so I don't think I'm going to be let down. I don't know if there not comfortable putting it out there right now because it is in the beta stage however you'd think there were just be some way to show a level of interest waning or increasing.
To everyone at Moz reading this thanks you for allowing me to type your name shorter 1st off it's a big deal. You know I although I really do not type it (I dictate it) regardless it's much easier.
I am talking about placing something in the actual website whenever you're on that shows metrics in a simple manner a scale whatever showing new visitors coming in under new branding only verse having to use what's the obvious to many still I type in SEOmoz when I forget I get redirected. I like to know the stats and I'd like to have real-time. It would be something nobody can argue with when it occurs they would have instant information at their fingertips about a medium-sized business on its way up to being a large when they changed their domain along with their entire branding.
For instance what would you give to of been there when Federal Express became FedEx we have all the data now thank God rand has the guts like Fred Smith from Federal Express oh forgive me FedEx.
I remember as a boy watching the television and them saying "Federal Express is now FedEx we hope you like it"
the things bonding them are each CEO was told this is not going to work by someone. Fred Smith had designed FedEx at Yale only to receive a F on his billion-dollar idea.
Rand took an enormous risk to drop out of school and start what is now Moz.
Each ran remarkable companies that earned trust.
For instance FedEx was believed to be impossible at the time to ship a package overnight anywhere FedEx employed people to drive their own vehicles to deliver packages. They were tested by Xerox sent multiple overnight packages all over with nothing in them just to see if they actually would get there on the scheduled date.
Moz had started in a home with Rand and his mother trying to optimize real estate on the web. This turned into what I believe is the most trusted authority in search on the web the entire World Wide Web that is amazing. I think it's more remarkable than FedEx.
I don't think we need that one did not use the Internet and that the other might be replacing a lot of letters by using and seeing that vision of how far they can actually go. Both companies and CEOs acted very similarly in my opinion.
Each corporations name was hard to forget once you get used to there companies first brand name.
More importantly each company essentially compacted their name where if you were to give somebody 10 guesses you know that if they are familiar with the brand they're going to get it right probably on the 2nd or 1st guess.
I would like to ask Moz to put a stat today up that way nobody misses or does not read the case study we actually live it and be part of the history of this great company.
One stat a day please I think it would benefit the community and be interesting to everyone. However if it is not best for the company I completely understand and will never say another word about it.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I absolutely agree with you, I've seen some successful and some note quite successful rebrandings been done in the last couple of years and for sure I would like to know how Moz covers this. Luckily Rand already agreed with us on this as stated in his post: "We'll be sure to do an interesting case study on the impact this domain migration has on our search traffic. :-)".
So hopefully we'll see it popping up in a few months.

Google Changing the Title Tag to Your Brand
A while back google started changing our title tags to have our name in it, which was great and reasonable for the most part. We recently ran into a problem with it as we have some properties on our site that fall under a dba. Here is the example. Title tag: Kolea- Waikoloa Vacation Rentals
Branding | | RobDalton
Kolea is a vacation rental community is a resort called Waikoloa. Waikoloa Vacation Rentals is our company name and www.waikoloavacationrentals.com is our company site. Here is the problem:
Title tag: Hualalai Resort- Waikoloa Vacation Rentals
Hualalai is a completely different place than Waikoloa and we do business in there as Hualalai Vacation Rentals, but keep our properties on our www.waikoloavacationrentals.com site rather than microsites. How can you let google know that what they are doing is incorrect for specific pages? Thanks,0 -
What's the best strategy for dealing with old ripoff reports that dominate your name rankings?
We are just now starting to work on our site optimization. There are a lot of old ripoff reports and other complaints that surface, specifically around our name search. Our competitors use this commonly and our clients come accross regularly. We have made management changes, and real changes in the business since then, but we don't know the best way to get our positive news to replace old negative news. Any ideas? Specifics would be great. Thanks,

How much would or have you pay for a domain name?
I wasn't asking the question from a complete lack of experience but I put this question on the forum here last week…How much would you pay for a key rich domain name with the correct extension? I'm setting up a new website to sell Whitby Jet and one of the members of this forum suggested I should buy the domain name www.whitbyjet.com it was for sale for $300 or £200 in UK money and they thought it was a bargain. I thought it was worth the cost even though I've never paid anywhere near that amount for a domain name.

.
There is a company offering www.whitby-jet.co.uk or £1500 ?!!!! I have bought key rich domain names before, which were very descriptive also but only paid the registration fee with no additional costs
.
I just wondered how much members of this forum have paid for domain names. And why they thought it was worth the cost... SEO Branding etc.? By the way the company that was acting as the intermediate for my new doaminis is an absolute pain. They didn't perform the transfer process quickly until I bombarded them with emails My new domain is still not working one week down the line. In the past I bought a domain cheap and it has been working within 24 hours directly.0
