Right page to place the Schema code for global business
-
I have two questions:
1. Schema code for Global business: As a company which works with clients across the globe, we like to create a well defined schema that doesn't limit and appear as a Local Business to Google. I assume "http://schema.org/LocalBusiness" means a local business to Google. If we use it, will be be affecting the ranking in global searches?
2. Page and location to keep the code What could be the best place to keep the schema code in a web page? - Homepage/ About us page / contact us page and Footer links are the options. I hope applying CSS on it too wouldn't be an issue.
Looking forward to learning your thoughts.

You can still utilize this form of rich snippets using XHTML
_"In general, RDFa uses simple attributes in XHTML tags (often or _
) to assign brief and descriptive names to entities and properties."

Simply update your site it is not a hard thing to do I would recommend using an HTML 5 boilerplate things are only going to get better for HTML 5 sites and Harder for HTML 4.
if it will not validate using HTML 4 and you are not comfortable trying to get it to work even using
googles highlighting tool which allows you to highlight rich snippets or schema then place it into your website.
https://support.google.com/webmasters/topic/3068649?hl=en&ref_topic=4600447
use an HTML 5 Bpoiler plate if you keep having problems.
All the best,
Thomas

But we get error Thomas:
Line 198, Column 41: there is no attribute "data-id"
at
-
It will work

Thank you Thomas for the very detailed response. This gives me better insight on Microdata.
One last question:
Out site is written in XHTML and not in HTML5 and we use the following Doctype
Now Its not valid with W3C XHTML when we tested, Is it just wrong DocType or should we completely rewrite with HTML5?
Thanks,

As long as your website is targeting the right country and using the right language using schema will not harm anything it will improve it.you can use this tool and the one below it to create a organization or corporation schema
http://schema-creator.org/organization.php
http://www.feedthebot.com/tools/address/doit.php
Address structured data codeA. Check that your address is correct
Whitehouse
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500
United StatesB. If address is correct copy the code below
<div itemscope itemtype="http: schema.org="" postaladdress"=""> Whitehouse

Schema and the knowledge graph which requires schema will be instrumental in so many different parts of the website that as long as it is in a natural Spot. For instance if your company has the address listed at the footer of every page it is not spammy use schema similar to the feed the bot postal address schema it is telling the truth and it is doing a good job at it.
You even lose the local part.
The thing is that there are so many new things that are being used when using schema for instance using it in the CSS is not wrong at all many people do that with their logos in order to get them more recognition.
http://www.microdatagenerator.com/organization-logos-schema/
The only time you would be abusing using schema would be the same way you would do anything black hat by looking at it as something that you can try to take advantage of the natural flow of the site and trying to trick Google is only sure not doing that you are not going to be in hot water. Good examples are video, events, reviews, authors all of them can use schema

Knowledge Graph
is based partially on schema and will be used very frequently more & more in the future.Sincerely,
Thomas

Google My Business pages for New Construction Communities
I have a number of builders of new homes as clients. Typically, they build out a whole neighborhood at once and give the neighborhood a fancy name. We were planning to create Google My Business pages for these communities but then ran into some potential challenges. As new communities, they are sometimes not on Google's radar yet Some of them have model homes where you might take a tour with a realtor that serves the community exclusively but many don't. So here come the questions... Is there a way to make Google speed up its process of recognizing new addresses? I have to choose an address to associate with the GMB page, probably the address of model home. Is this going to create annoying problems for a buyer who someday buys that model home? Since some communities don't have a model home, I could arbitrarily assign an address of one of the neighborhood homes to the GMB page, but this leads to the same question about creating a GMB page that will exist after the builder has sold all the houses in the community. Will it be weird to have the GMB referring to someone's private residence down the road? My assumption is that claiming a GMB page would help with local ranking if someone searches for something like "new homes" in addition to providing easy driving directions to someone who has done a bit of research and Googles the name of the new home community while out driving and searching for homes. These seem to be the main benefits, but are the challenges associated with questions 1-3 even worth the trouble of trying to claim listings for these communities?

Google My Business Shared Address Problem
Hi, I have an issue. Our organization shares a church with another organization. Years ago they claimed the address. They have their Google Business category set up as "Religious Organization". About 6 months ago we started sharing the same church with them. We are a total different organization. We now have a verified listing (same address but with STE 100 in it) with the main category being "Church". There are a few issues I am seeing: When doing a search for our address, the icon is the default one, whereas all the other churches in the area show the church icon. Is this because they claimed the original address as "Religious Organization" and because we only have STE 100, even though labeled as Church, Google doesn't see it that way? If you search for the location + church, neither of our organizations show, even after 6 months. They only show if you search for the organization name or address. Could this be because Google doesn't consider this address (therefore both of us) as a church and doesn't show it? Here is our Google local listing and the one we share with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://www.google.com/maps/place/1018+Parkway+Dr,+Spring+Hill,+TN+37174/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x8863828b8f17015b:0x59fd9715acc7e144?sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi7h5DCqfbXAhXBc98KHXcyA4gQ8gEIKDAA Thank you!

Why would a website link disappear from a Google Place listing?
Hi, a local non-profit recently re-branded their name from MacDonald Center to Maybelle Center. When they updated their business information their website link disappeared. They've updated from within and dashboard to no avail. We've requested edits/updates via Google Map maker but it says Denied. Here's a URL for the SERP result. Note the button for "website" would normally appear by the button for "directions" https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8&q=maybelle center portland&oq=maybelle center portland&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i59j69i61.4316j0j7 Can someone please explain why this is happening and how we can fix it? They are a great community organization who's about to receive some media coverage and we'd really appreciate it if users hearing about the group be able to easily access their new website. They are aware of their duplicate listings but, typical of non-profits, have limited time and funds so are prioritizing to address more urgent issues first. However, I don't believe duplicate listings would cause such an issue but please let me know if I'm wrong here

Google My Business - bulk location upload vs. single upload
Hi there, I have a question regarding Google My Business listings: We currently have a business with few offices (less than 10). Each office has it's Google listing under the same Google account.
Local Listings | | OrendaLtd
We plan on opening new offices at a certain pace, let's say two a month, which means we'll have more than 10 listings in the near future.
As far as I recall, Google allows up to 10 listings per account, which means it won't suffice. On the other hand, We do not have 10 offices at the time being, which means we're not eligible for a bulk upload. Any ideas how to handle this situation?0 -
Google My Business page no longer appearing with search results
Title pretty much says it all--my company's local Google+ page has always appeared under our listed website information up until very recently. I'm also noticing the same with our competitors. Has anyone else just began to experience this? Our NAP, map, photos, and review are still displayed to the right of the results, but nothing is linked to the actual Google page itself. Am I missing something? Thanks!

International customers for local business
Hi I have a vacation rental in France. My customers come from the UK/US, France, and Spain and as such i have three domains. www.domain.com (French) en.domain.com (English) es.domain.com (Spanish) I first set up a Google+ page which was tied to my French website and it's descriptive text and KW are in French. I subsequently set-up 2 more Google+ pages (English and Spanish, each with their respective domains and language specific KW) for the purpose of showing up in local searches in the UK and Spain, which is starting to working. I'm I going in the right direction? is this a crazy idea since they all have the same local address? Thank you for sharing insights regarding how to handle a local business with multilingual customers.

Google Places - not physical location, but listed as we are (e-commerce)
Hello Mozzers, We have specific situation with google places. We are e-commerce store but google display us as local business where people can come in. (with directions button). This creates problems for us, since we do not want and we are not setup to receive customers. On our website there is address in the footer and also we have About Us page with the address (this is the address of facility from where online orders are shipped.) - is this a problem and is google concluded that we are physical store because of this? Is there any way to change this or we should contact google directly and explain the situation? And if we should contact google, is there any risk involved? (like: why you have the address on site when you are not physical store? ) Thank you, Nenad
