Should Title Tags Differ From H1's?
-
I never thought this was an issue, but now, I'm not so sure. Is it a problem for your title tags to be identical to your H1's? From Moz' OnPage Grader section on "H1's and Title Tags," I thought they were supposed to both match your keyword.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ruben

If Google was zapping people for matching title and h1 then my site would be toasted.
If Google was zapping people for matching title and h1 then huge numbers of people would be busting into this forum crying that they got whacked.
I think that the idea of Google punishing people for matching title and h1 is total rubbish. Does anyone know and have a link to a serious person's website who is publishing this stuff?

Hi Ruben,
Some say it's fine, others say it's dangerous - and there is a discussion here on MOZ that took place some time ago. However, there doesn't seem to be any conclusive data either way to suggest that it's a problem.
That said, I do recall that with one of the algorithms, Google did say to make sure your site isn't too obviously templated and avoid repetition. As a matter of course, I would suggest you make sure these aren't the same as it is another opportunity to get additional keyword diversity in there.

Use each as an opportunity to deeply target the context of the page. Where title's have to be >60 Characters - we're allowed more wiggle room with H1.
I target specifically what I'm targeting in my title - and I use contextually similar text in H1.
Duplicating isn't going to hurt, but its a missed opportunity to draw deeper relevance and co-occurrence of other related terms.

Is using a H1 tag in a logo image bad for SEO?
We have brand logos on certain pages that have H1 tags in them - the H1 text being the brand's name, as this is what we'd want the title of the page to be. The logos are at the top of the page instead of a written title. But is this the best option for SEO? Do search engines value H1 tags in images as highly as a standard H1 tag?Would it be better for SEO to add an alt tag to the logo and add a separate H1 tag on the page that's also the name of the brand?

Positioning H1 and H2 tags adjacent on a page without content in between
Is it best practice to separate H1 and H2 tags with P tag or other content, or is it ok to have H1 and H2 adjacent without content in between?

Putting review aggregation in product's navigation
Do you guys think it's a bad idea to put a review aggregation page in a product's navigation? Such as: "Which Brand of Men's Shampoo Is Best for You?" Rand suggests against it in this Whiteboard Friday as it interferes with a product's funnel, but I wonder if including it in navigation will give a domain and that page increased authority for a head keyword, such as "men's shampoo." What do you guys think?

Benefits of having a Title-Tag that fits on the SERP
Has anyone seen any case studies that show that title-tags that fit on the page (http://moz.com/blog/new-title-tag-guidelines-preview-tool) have a higher ctr than title-tags that don't fit? I know it's been said that keywords past the pixel limit still matter but if there's a major benefit to ctr for title-tags that fit....Any thoughts?

Description tag not showing in the SERPs because page is blocked by Robots, but the page isn't blocked. Any help?
While checking some SERP results for a few pages of a site this morning I noticed that some pages were returning this message instead of a description tag, A description for this result is not avaliable because of this site's robot.s.txt The odd thing is the page isn't blocked in the Robots.txt. The page is using Yoast SEO Plugin to populate meta data though. Anyone else had this happen and have a fix?

Page Title
Hi All, I am wondering if you could help me please. I am getting the following result after I run my On-Page Analysis Avoid Multiple Page Title Elements _Easy fix _ <dl style="font-style: normal;"> <dt>Page titles</dt> <dd>"Aquashowers-Shower Repairs Dublin -" and "Aquashowers - Shower Repairs Dublin"</dd> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>Web pages are meant to have a single title, and for both accessibility and search engine optimization reasons, we strongly recommend following this practice.</dd> <dt>Recommendation</dt> <dd>Remove all but a single page title element.</dd> </dl> Does this mean that i have 2 pages that are nearly identical or i should only name a page with one word? The reason i ask is because i have 1 page called "Aquashowers-Shower Repairs Dublin" and another called "Aquashowers-Dublin Shower Repair" I don't have a page called "Aquashowers - Shower Repairs Dublin" (with the space inbetween the words and the hyphen) Any help would be great. Thanks again Aidan
