Does anyone have any experience with DakWak?
-
We are looking at using it as a translation service but I have SEO concerns. Does anyone have any experience or see any potential problems?
-
We are excited at the prospect of being able to put up multiple languages, at both the cost and effort level that your company describes.
But a couple of specific concerns that we need addressed before we could try the service is the potential for incurring Google penalties for both duplicated content and auto-generated content.
Can you provide some detailed insight as to how your service has addressed those issues?

Hi Niners52,
I personally do not know DakWak, so I went and checked it out. But first impression: Machine Translation is never good. "The quality of machine translation is around 60-70%" This is what they have said in their live chat.
I personally work for a company where we target 9 different languages, and I know how frustrating it can be, when you do not have the correct translation for a specific text. But I would strongly advise you NOT to use machine translation.
Somewhere in the past (2011-2012?) we have used some machine translation on a website and it was strongly hurting our user experience.
Since then even if it goes slower and the costs are higher, but we go for human translations.
I hope this was helpful.
Gr., Keszi

Is anyone else noticing way longer than usual caching delays in Chrome?
I typically see browsers refresh at 48 hours the longest. We pushed some changes through production about a week ago and Chrome still has the old version cached. I'm seeing some similar posts and wonder if Google is up to something and we are starting to "cache" on (pun intended)?

Site Structure: How do I deal with a great user experience that's not the best for Google's spiders?
We have ~3,000 photos that have all been tagged. We have a wonderful AJAXy interface for users where they can toggle all of these tags to find the exact set of photos they're looking for very quickly. We've also optimized a site structure for Google's benefit that gives each category a page. Each category page links to applicable album pages. Each album page links to individual photo pages. All pages have a good chunk of unique text. Now, for Google, the domain.com/photos index page should be a directory of sorts that links to each category page. Alternatively, the user would probably prefer the AJAXy interface. What is the best way to execute this?

Anyone managed to change 'At a glance:' in local search results
On Google's local search results, i.e when the 'Google places' data is displayed along with the map on the right hand side of the search results, there is also an element 'At a glance:'
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | DeanAndrews
The data that if being displayed is from some years ago and the client would if possible like it to reflect there current services, which they have been providing for some five years. According to Google support here - http://support.google.com/maps/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1344353 this cannot be changed, they say 'Can I edit a listing’s descriptive terms or suggest a new one?
No; the terms are not reviewed, curated, or edited. They come from an algorithm, and we do not help that algorithm figure it out. ' My question is has anyone successfully influenced this data and if so how.0 -
How to solve a PHP problem to increase user experience ?
Hi all, I am having a peculiar PHP problem that is affecting the user experience of the site and thus, the SEO. The site is www.atlantiksurf.com and as you can see I use the QTranslate Plugin to manage the 3 different languages: www.atlantiksurf.com (Spanish) www.atlantiksurf.com/en www.atlantiksurf.com/de If you enter the german version: http://www.atlantiksurf.com/de/ , and you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will notice there are a couple of posts that have (Español) in their Titles. This means that this particular post is written in Spanish and should only appear in the Spanish version of the site. Every single post is published on the three versions even when they are language orientated. The result is that when you press that specific Spanish title on the German version, you get nothing but this: http://www.atlantiksurf.com/de/aritz-aranburu-tendra-que-estar-un-mes-sin-competir/ Because obviously there is nothing there. If I go to the wordpress admin panel and search for the post manually, I can solve the problem by erasing all the default code of the different language versions that should not appear. But this is only a manual and non practical solution. The problem, I think, might be in the PHP orders that the Wordpress Theme is receiving from somewhere. I come to all of you SEomoz users as my last chance, because I've been months in discussions with Qtranslate users and php amateurs that cannot solve the issue. I know that this question isn't strictly about SEO, but in a way it is, because it must be affecting the way that Google look at us. Please, some help or orientation would be highly appreciated. rTqZI.png

My website keywords have been almost completely taken out of indexing in Google since 04/26/11 and I cannot determine why, anyone know?
I had 12 to 15 1st page Google rankings in the iPhone, iPad, app review vertical. As of 04/26/11 I have lost all rankings, traffic has gone from 1,000 to 1,200 a day to 150 to 350 a day. I was using a plugin for auto press releases, but have removed this and deleted the urls. I also have changed themes and hosting over the last 3 weeks. I have been trying to get SEO help, but cannot seem to get anyone to help me. thank you Mike

Does anyone know if certain DMOZ categories are blocked/never get indexed on google?
Hi all, After waiting many months I was happy to see a certain site listed on DMOZ, then months later still haven't seen the dmoz category indexed in google. It makes me wonder if certain categories don't get indexed or blocked or even previously penalized by google. The category in question is a regional one : http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_Jersey/Localities/G/Garfield/Business_and_Economy/ Anyone come across this before? Dave
