Google Places - Main Location Change = New Page?
-
I have my main Google Places / Google+ Local page in Detroit where I've had it for probably 5 years and have 10 5-star reviews. It shows up pretty well in the local listings. I recently moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and while I'm still doing business in Detroit and have an office location, my main location is now Sioux Falls. I've started a new Google+ page here, but it's not doing very well and I don't have many reviews. Which of the following should I do?
1. Create New Page and Leave the Old page where it is
Create a new page for Sioux falls and leave the old page in Detroit. It will take some time to build up the new location profile.
2. Change the Address of the Old Page (Detroit) to my new address in Sioux Falls
Could I change the address of the old page (Detroit) to my new address in Sioux Falls, then create a new page for Detroit? This would hopefully have my page with all of the reviews, which has been around for awhile, in my new main location and I could create a new page for Detroit.
Does anyone have any experience with this? What do you think would be the best approach?

Hi Jared!
You're very welcome, and I'm glad to know this will be helpful to you. Have a good weekend!

Amazing answer. Thank you! We're doing much of this, but you've given me even more ideas.

Hi Jared,
Definitely go with option 1. Yes, it will take time to establish yourself in the new city, but you don't want to undo what you've accomplished for the old city if you still have a location there. A healthy helping of patience is pretty much a prerequisite for opening a new branch. Make a plan for steadily accomplishing the following for your new business:
-
Re-optimizing core website pages to reflect your new corporate headquarters
-
Developing new content on the website to feature the new city
-
Building your new citation set for the new location
-
Engineering a review acquisition program from the new location
-
Creating social outreach for the new location
-
Looking for link opportunities for the new location (see this totally awesome post by Phil Rozek: http://www.localvisibilitysystem.com/2015/02/05/the-best-bleepin-local-link-questionnaire/)
-
Making your real-world outreach into the new community, offline
-
Consider temporary hyperlocal PPC to gain some visitors to your new pages
When you start to look at the list of things you'll be doing, it becomes pretty clear that none of this is going to happen overnight. It took you time to gain good visibility in Detroit - it's going to take time to do the same in Sioux Falls. Hone your creativity at this exciting new time for your business and stick with the process and you'll begin to make the kinds of gains you ultimately hope to achieve. Good luck and congratulations on your new office!

I would go with your first suggestion
Create a new page and build it up
had a Google plus account a while back changed our business name and location so it was still the same business just a newer name. It was one of worst moves as far as Google plus went we ended up in the new location showing up for the old location if that makes sense.
quite a few calls to Google to put it right i got sick deleted the page completely recreated it.
I will add it seemed to have some pretty bad effect on keywords etc at the time as well.

Google Knowledge graph card
Hi everyone, I've got quite a lot of good reviews on Google My Business, but I don't know how to get these to appear on my Knowledge Card. Any ideas for importing these across? I'd also like to include my social media tags in this card, but the HTML that I've tried to use has added the text to my homepage, whereas I wanted it invisible on the homepage but the social tags to show up in search. Cheers!

Google's knowledge graph carousel
Hi all, my business is on Google's knowledge graph carousel but it hasn't sourced any of the images I've provided. I've set up a G+ & YouTube account. I've added images to our wiki page and added photos to Google for our business, but to no avail. Any ideas? Cheers all.

What's the best way to keep Google My Business reviews when the business changes names?
I work with an interior designer who is re-branding and changing her business name to focus specifically on windows. Can she keep her GMB reviews and just change the name of her business, then reverify with Google? She doesn't want to lose her current local pack ranking.

Duplicate Google Plus Business Listings
Hi everyone, We have a client with duplicate Google Plus pages for two of their locations. The ones that are showing in search results for the most part are the ones we control, but we'd still like to report or delete the duplicates (which we do not control from our existing accounts). I used to notice the option to report a page as duplicate but no longer see that...any advice? Thanks!

Effects of changing your city to overall rankings?
One of our offices is in Trinity, Florida. However, "Trinity" isn't a real city. It is essentially the nicer part of New Port Richey. Organically, we rank for new port richey terms, but i have a suspicion, our lack of maps/local presence is hurting us. Should we do a massive citation overhaul and change everything to New Port Richey for that office? Will doing that somehow hurt our site overall? Thanks, Ruben

Where Google+ Local Gets Listings?
I've seen a lot of business owners mention that their website is on Google+ Local but they say they never added it. Does anyone know which companies Google buys databases from and lists the businesses and unclaimed? And how often do they do this?

Google places and "people also search for"
I run a yoga studio in Toronto, Canada. I googled "Fireflow Yoga". The Google Places listing shows up on the right, and underneath it there is a listing for 5 competitors under the title "people also search for". Is there any way to turn it off that that "People also search for" does not appear as part of the listing? I also did a reciprocal search of the 5 competitors connected to our listing. They also have 5 "people also search for" on their places pages but we are not listed on their pages. What can I do to work towards Google showing our listing under "People also search for" when they look up similar businesses nearby? thanks. blBFSKU

Google Warns Local Businesses: You Have 3 Weeks to Save Your Places Listing
Has anyone heard anything about this Google warning that was supposedly sent to some Google Place owners recently. The message says: We are making some changes to Google Places for Business and Google Maps so we can continue providing people with the best experience when they're looking for local businesses. As part of this process, we're asking business owners to review and confirm some of the information in their Google Places accounts so we can keep showing it to Google users. We know this will be a few extra steps for merchants, and we apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your time. We have sent business owners affected by these changes an email entitled "Action Required: You have 3 weeks to save your Google Places Listing". Source: http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2327744/Google-Warns-Local-Businesses-You-Have-3-Weeks-to-Save-Your-Places-Listing I haven't found much other information in the SEO community but I just wanted to see if anyone has actually received this notice or not? Someone suggested it may just be a test in Australia/Austria. (Not sure which one it is as the comment in the above list references both countries) Thanks for any information you have on this topic.
