Hi there
Follow backlinks are links that pass equity to your website. Nofollow backlinks do not, although sometimes search engines ignore this, although rarely.
Here's what I would review if I were you:
Learn SEO (Moz - your website needs a lot of work) Learn Academy (Moz)
Follow Links Vs. No Follow Links: Should You Care? (Wordstream)
Beginner's Guide to Link Building (Moz)
The Hidden Power of Nofollow Links (Moz)
How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Nofollow (Moz)One thing I will say - do NOT ignore getting links because they are nofollow. I really want you to know that. Reason being, a "good" link comes in many forms - one of those forms might potentially be "nofollow". I highly suggest reading this post from Rand Fishkin regarding link building, a lot of it still stands. I added some of my thoughts on this subject in another question and answer on this forum, please read.
Again, as your site needs a lot of work, I would heavily focus on your design (especially responsive), your architecture & internal linking, and looking at your analytics / Webmaster Tools to learn what is bringing users to your site, so you can have a guided strategy.
Now, there is a LOT here. You have a lot to catch up on - that's totally fine! But please, read everything here, learn as much as you can, and don't be completely set on only doing link building out of the gate.
Let me know if this all helps! Take your time, have fun, and good luck!

Hi
If you seriously want to start building links I would advice you to start learn the basics. No pain - no gain. Nobody is just going to link you because you need some links.
Interesting resources from Moz include:
The beginners guide: http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo/growing-popularity-and-links
All the resources that are referenced on this page: http://moz.com/blog/category/link-building
Adding 2 links to your site on this blog won't help you - all the links in the Moz Q&A are nofollow. You might want to check the configuration of your site - when I click on the link is get the message: "Resource limit reached". When I was able to visit - the site looked like a spam site with very low quality content - if you don't improve the quality of the site nobody with sense is going to link to you.

Unnatural Links To Your Site — Impacts Links warning, Should I do something?
Hi, I got: "Unnatural Links To Your Site — Impacts Links Google has detected a pattern of unnatural artificial, deceptive, or manipulative links pointing to pages on this site. Some links may be outside of the webmaster’s control, so for this incident we are taking targeted action on the unnatural links instead of on the site’s ranking as a whole. " I don't see any dropping at rankings, could the best solution here to be, just to leave everything as it is and be more careful with the link building in the future? Or is there a danger that Google gives further penalties if I don't act on this one do something? I am little afraid that if I start removing links, my rankings will drop, even though they have remained same if don't do anything? Any help is appreciated.

Back links off the back of a paid sponsorship deal
Hey Mozzers, I am in need of a bit of advice please? I work for a Gyms chain in the UK and we are sponsoring a major sporting event next month. As part of the deal we get a dedicated webpage and backlink from their high authority website. We do not have a logo and multiple backlinks in the footer on every page of their website, so to my knowledge Google will not necessarily regard this as a paid backlink right? Is there anything in the algorithm that is able to distinguish between the aforementioned backlink and a natural one? Just wondering if our domain is linking to receive the equity or not? Regards Ben

Linking between properties
I own 3 domains. One is my blog, one is my photography business site, and one is my graphic/web design site. They are all hosted on the same VPS account. I link between each site. Also, since the links are either in the nav, footer or sidebar, all pages from one page link to the homepage of each other. Is this an issue for SEO? Should I not be doing this? Would it be beneficial to use a no follow link instead if I'm to keep them?

Link building
Hello everyone, I am building links for an e-commerce site and I need to increase the value of the links we get by placing them on specific pages in order to pass more juice to inner pages. Which part of the website should I point the links to? Because there is no content section on the site what I can do is either link to the homepage (not an option) or link to inner pages such as category/subcategory/product pages. My doubt is that it wouldn't look natural to link to products pages from a piece of content or from a site where people go with the intention not to buy but to get information. Any opinions on this?

Advetorial links
How do you scientifically value advertorial links. I have a site who is willing to buy advertorial in large online sites which will contain links. (I would prefer they invested in content on their own site). The DA on these sites is universally extremely strong. the PA of the examples I've seen is pretty low. The site has strong DA matching it's main competition and is performing pretty well in terms of ranking. Question: how do you value this kind of link in terms of the amount of £ the publications want to charge. Anybody have a formula or a logical process which would provide solid advice rather than don't infringe Google's T&C's which I've already mentioned to them. Any thoughts appreciated.

Is there way to identify all back links throughout a site or do I have to check one site page at a time? Thanks!
Sorry if it is obvious, but I can't seem to figure it out. I'd like to be able to run a report that will list all of the back links on every page of my site.

Link Churn - where have all my links gone?
I am sure most of you have asked yourself the question I'm asking right now.. Where have all my links gone? I am starting to get twitchy now. I would estimate we have lost around 60% of our links in the past 3 weeks. Does anyone have any comeback stories? Feel like I am back to the start again. I have made a number of changes on the site not least removing a reciprical link page.. that had over 200 links on it but from reading one of Rand's tweets is it true that linking out could be good again?
