Conversion Tracking Setup; Is there a decent guide?
-
Ok, I'm looking into how to set up conversion tracking for our website, and frankly, I'm totally confused. In looking at Google documentation, I'm not sure if I need to use Tag manager, throw some code into the site with jQuery, or sacrifice a goat.
I'd like to implement a variety of tracking goals / events / things on several websites, so I'm really looking for a comprehensive guide. I couldn't find any in depth stuff on google. Help?

Hi,
As you have mentioned that you would like to implement a variety of tracking goals/events so Google tag manger would be best for you.
As far as implementation is concern there is an exclusive youtube channel for this that will help you to implement various tracking goals.
Please check this @ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClgihdkPzNDtuoQy4xDw5mA/feed
Hope this helps.
Thanks

There are a few guides out there but Kissmetrics has a video on setting up goals in Analytics. This can be easier to follow along with.

Analytics - Video Tracking
Hello, As i've ended up confusing myself, I thought I would ask the moz community whether i'm on the correct track! I'm wanting full GA tracking on individual videos from our destination URL. In short I need the name of each video to have specific tracking. Example;
Reporting & Analytics | | Whittie
Video 1 (Apples)
Video 2 (Oranges)
Video 3 (Pears) We need to be able to see the amount of plays per session, per video. As well as any extras if possible, such as;
Watched 25%, watched 50%, watched 75%, video complete, video paused. If the following script is used; https://github.com/sanderheilbron/vimeo.ga.js As well as using the Google URL builder (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1033867?hl=en-GB) , what would be the best way to set each video to see the statistics within Google Analytics, so I can see how many plays the 'Apples' video has had. I think it is the ordering of the 'event, campaign, label etc' which has confused me. Many Thanks for any replies in advance, I appreciate it.0 -
Domain redirect for direct mail (source) tracking in Analytics?
We have a client that would like to do some direct mail marketing and the plan is to use a short/simple domain in the marketing materials, which redirects to the main site domain. By default this would show as a referral traffic source in Analytics, right? So any traffic that came through that redirect would be attributed to "shortdomain.com / referral"? Meaning I wouldn't need to do any sort of customized, advanced tracking set up to track conversions that I've already set up (ecomm and goals) and attribute them to this new source? Just double checking that I'm not overlooking something. Thanks!

ECommerce Tracking Code Installation
Hi All, Kindly explain how to implement eCommerce tracking code on the website.I am aware how to enable and generate eCommerce tracking code in Google Analytics but have confusion from website end.Also, where i read the steps, everywhere i read the below code: <script< span="">type="text/javascript"> var _gaq = _gaq ||[]; _gaq.push(['_setAccount','UA-XXXXX-X']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); _gaq.push(['_addTrans', '1234', // transaction ID - required 'Acme Clothing', // affiliation or store name '11.99', // total - required '1.29', // tax '5', // shipping 'San Jose', // city 'California', // state or province 'USA' // country ]); // add item might be called for every item in the shopping cart // where your ecommerce engine loops through each item in the cart and // prints out _addItem for each _gaq.push(['_addItem', '1234', // transaction ID - required 'DD44', // SKU/code - required 'T-Shirt', // product name 'Green Medium', // category or variation '11.99', // unit price - required '1' // quantity - required ]); _gaq.push(['_trackTrans']);//submits transaction to the Analytics servers (function(){ var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type ='text/javascript'; ga.async =true; ga.src =('https:'== document.location.protocol ?'https://ssl':'http://www')+'.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); ----------------------------------------</script<> In the above code specific transaction id, SKU/code are mentioned. What will be the modifications in the above code if i have to track all products present on my eCommerce website??

Conversion Rate Question: Should I Measure Visits or Unique Visits?
When you measure conversion rates, is the equation: conversion rate = visits/conversions or conversion rate = unique visits/conversions I ask because it can actually make a pretty big difference in the conversion rate. For example, if you visit my ecommerce website 100 times before buying something (and assuming you're my only visitor), then my conversion rate is 100% _if I'm determining conversion rates by unique visits/conversions. _However, it's only 1% _if I'm determining conversion rates by visits/conversions. _Wow! Now this is clearly an extreme example, but it should serve to illustrate the point that in more reasonable cases, the way the data is measured can have a potentially significant impact on the conversion rate. Is there an industry standard for this? Am I missing something really basic? Also, here's a little bit of context for the question: I run an ecommerce website powered by the Magento CMS and I'm trying to measure my conversion rate in Google Analytics for individual products. Google Analytics shows me my site wide conversion rate, but apparently I have to do some customization in order to measure conversion rates on the product level. That's fine, but I want to make sure I'm measuring my product conversions in a standard way. Thanks for any and all help! Adam

Tracking Social Media Logged In Users Help
Hi, I recently read Tom Anthony's post on "Monitor Which Social Networks Your Visitors are Logged Into With Google Analytics". I have looked and re-looked at the code implemented and after two days I am still not getting any results tracking. Could somebody please take a look at my site and tell me if they see any conflicts or errors I may have made when installing the code. Thanks for any help!
