Help with Google+ business name rules
-
I'm marketing a franchise gym business that has multiple locations within the same city.
For the business name, I used to have it set as "Business Name" + City + Tagline.
For example: "Ultimate Workout South Calgary Gym and Bootcamps". and "Ultimate Workout North Calgary Gym and Bootcamps".
To comply with the google business naming rules I've updated all the listing to just business name.
The problem is, now the local search results for my gym locations are confusing. Half the address is cut off in the results, the city is not displayed at all. And sometimes results from a neighbouring city are shown.
Anyone have an idea on how to implement a strategy where people at a quick glance understand which location is best for them?

Hi John,
To clarify, when you say, "Half the address is cut off in the results, the city is not displayed at all. And sometimes results from a neighbouring city are shown." are you talking about organic results rather than local results? I can't recall a scenario in which name length affected address display in the local pack results, so that made me wonder if you are referring to organic results, instead, or, perhaps, are you not in the 3 pack but are seeing the cut-off address in the Local Finder view (which can be truncated, yes) when you click the 'More' link?
Are you able to share the actual searches you are performing/actual name of the business?

We're doing ok ranking wise. usually #1 and #3
My issue is Google does not know when someone searches for Calgary that the person may actually prefer Calgary SE. People don't narrow their searches that way. So we get alot of leads going to the wrong location then switching over to the SE gym

Google should be the one displaying the locations that are closest to the user. Your addresses should be showing in full if you are marking the locations as storefronts that have real visitors. It really sounds like your locations are not trusted by Google and therefore not being shown and/or being displayed incorrectly. At a quick glance, "Ultimate Workout Gym and Bootcamp" looks like a highly overstuffed keyword ridden business name. It will be hard to make that name your own. I mean if your name was "Zoobox" it would be pretty easy to establish trusted locations.
Either way, you will need to prove to Google you are a real business at each location by providing trusted and consistent citations. Switching business names repeatedly will not help you here.

Local Recreational Marijuana Dispensaries Disappearing from Google Maps when Plurals used.
This is the second time I have posted this question and never got a satisfactory result. I have an SEO client in Tacoma Wa and when you type (Dispensaries Near Tacoma they are in the Top 3 snack pack and the Google maps shows 20 other similar businesses. However, when you search (Dispensary Near Tacoma) only 3 or 5 recreational marijuana shops show up and my client disappears. Someone earlier suggested it could be because of the categories selection, but that can't affect ALL the other shops and like I said it happens in other cities. for example Dispensary Near Olympia vs Dispensaries Near Olympia. I have the full write up and pictures and diagrams on my blog. Please HELP! This could affect your future clients also. https://isenselogic.com/local-business-disappearing-on-google-maps-when-plurals-used/

Can't get past the 15th page of Google SERPs
I've been doing Local SEO for 9 years and have never had an issue that frustrated me as much as this one. I have a client who I can't get past the 15th page of Google's SERPS for their #1 KW. Here are the details: The domain is 4 months old In that 4 month span the site has gone from a DA 1 to a DA 24 Spam score is a 0. I know this doesn't mean a ton but I can tell you from closely reviewing their AHrefs report, there's no influx of spammy links or anything like that. The design is a custom wordpress design The content is 100% unique and professionally written content The backlink profile (in my opinion) is full of high DA and PA sites from authority sites with high trust flow ... in my opinion their backlinks are superior to all but maybe a handful of competitors. I was not expecting 1st page results by now but I would have expected top 50 results a the very least. But to not crack the top 15 tells me there's some major issue here. I really need some insight as to what could be holding me back here ... I don't want to share the domain publicly but but I will PM you it if you're interested in taking a crack at it. I will seriously pay someone a small fortune if they can help me figure this out.

Google Plus Business Page is not showing up
Hello, I had 2 google+ business pages. But the website under those pages were different. For example, www.abc.com on 1st one and then www.xyz.com on 2nd one. Both of them had the different business name and website but same address and phone number. Also, www.abc.com domain was set as redirecting to www.xyz.com. My 1st business page was ranking good but I wanted to use 2nd one only so I called up google and asked them to remove the 1st one and then they closed it. Now, the problem is that I lost the 1st one and 2nd one is not ranking for any of the keyword (I have checked all the pages in the SERP and it doesn't show up anywhere until last page). I have fixed all the citations everywhere recently but no luck in getting ranking. Can anyone suggest what steps can be done to rank 2nd one now? FYI, I am talking about local places ranking, the domain www.xyz.com is ranked well in organic ranking. Any help is appreciated! Brian

Future of Google biz listings
Breakout from an earlier question today ... G+ versus Google My Business: Looks like I lost descriptions and cover pictures on my Google Places locations during the dashboard switchover. I have 70 locations - is it worth cleaning up at this time? I would hate to invest all of that, only to learn later I need to migrate to Google My Business (and potentially - likely? - face similar issues). Thanks,

Just changed a Google+ Local address, however realise that its not changing. Does it usually take time for a Google+ address to change once submitted? Would like to know the process here so that this address can change so as to ensure NAP consistency.

Bing Places for Business - Worth It?
Hey Fellow Mozzers, I am trying to determine if Bing Places for Business is worth the time and effort it takes to create listings. My business has 900 locations, and would take some time to create the bulk upload file to load into the Bing Places for Business dashboard. My question is, since Bing already does a good job of creating business listings using data from 3rd party sources such as Yelp and Citysearch, where I already have a strong presence for each of my locations, is there any value in overriding the automatically created business page for each of my location with information that I upload?
