Putting review aggregation in product's navigation
-
Do you guys think it's a bad idea to put a review aggregation page in a product's navigation? Such as: "Which Brand of Men's Shampoo Is Best for You?"
Rand suggests against it in this Whiteboard Friday as it interferes with a product's funnel, but I wonder if including it in navigation will give a domain and that page increased authority for a head keyword, such as "men's shampoo."
What do you guys think?

Ahh I see.
Sorry then, this isn't something I have actually tried for myself or any clients so don't have any data to give you that would be useful I'm afraid.

Thanks! I didn't mean in terms of penalization. I was just wondering if the people here thought it would negatively affect conversions, which is what I believe Rand was suggesting.
Sorry, I should have given more backup.

Hey Edward,
I would be hugely surprised if you got anything from doing this at all, but the only way to tell what it will do for you, is to test it. I highly doubt you would get any sort of a penalty for doing this, but I certainly wouldn't roll it out across the site.

Wordpress 'Hide Title' Feature, does this help shorten title length
Im wondering if anyone with some Wordpress experience can help me. I am using Yoast to create my page titles, but yet Moz tells me that my page titles including my actual page title tag which is 'dumfries wedding photography | Hemera Visuals' by clicking on the 'hide title' feature in wordpress will this in turn stop wordpress from automatically adding my page title and therfor bring my title length down drastically? And if so will I have to wait till google next crawls my page to see if this works? Kind Regards Cameron.

What's the best SEO tactics when you have a dedicated web address pointing to a page on a different site?
Hope someone can help with a question I've got about sorting out some duplicate content issues. To simplify the question, imagine there is a website a.com which has a page a.com/newslettersignup. In addition to the a.com domain, there is also a different web address, ashortcut.com, which points to a.com/newslettersignup. ashortcut.com is the web address that is advertised in marketing material etc. So what is the best way then to tell Google etc. that ashortcut.com is the preferred URL for the page which sits at a.com/newslettersignup? The advice I've read about the canonical tag, for example, doesn't cover this exact scenario so although it can support cross-domain information, I'm not sure if that's the best route to follow. Thanks!

Eshop - Prevent Duplicate Product Titles... A Strategy
Hi Mozzers ! I'm running a small online vintage bag and jewellery store (www.vintageheirloom.com). Items are unique and need to be written up individually. Whilst the details condition, age etc are unique many of the items name's aren't. For instance, we have over a year had several bags that we've named: Vintage Celine classic box bag Naturally Moz has pulled up these as duplicates, same product title. I could append a unique database id number at the end of each title but it looks strange for the customer. I could add a few details like condition, age & price e.g. Vintage Celine classic box bag - B+ 80s 90s £425 but I don't think this would be entirely unique either. Has anyone a good strategy for creating unique product titles that looks ok and informative to the customer? Thanks for looking. Kevin abut some items do have the same Does anyone have a strat

301 Redirect to product page or category?
We manage an ecommerce website that sells health products. A few products have now been discontinued. I’m just wondering what would be the best practice in this case. Should we 301 redirect to a similar product or to a similar category page? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
