Link Types For Link Building

Hi i have a SEO agency we work with who are building quality guest post links for us, however they are also building forum, profile, blog comments
and directory based links.60% of their links they are building are high quality, relevant guest posts while the other 40% are the other link types.
The 40% seem to be relevant directories, forums, blog comments, etc.
They said they build other link types because it diversifies the link building and profile rather then just building high quality guest posts.
As just building one link type can leave a footprint.
What are your thoughts on this?

This makes sense to me as long as the other types of links (directories, forums, etc) are still high-quality. For example, if the directories they are making sure you are listed on are sites like Angieslist, YP, Manta, BBB, Yelp, etc. NOT low quality ones like freeseodirectory.com, directorytopranking.com, etc. it is a good thing and helpful for SEO. If you are a local business, this will help with your NAP as well, and showing up in Google Maps more often. Moz Local has a great list of these high quality directories and I would make sure the company you are working with is providing you reporting of their linkbuilding efforts and sources.
Asking what pieces of content they are sharing from your website would be a good question to ask as well, as one of the best forms of modern SEO and linkbuilding is having helpful, industry-relevant blog posts, infographics, or other pieces of content on your website and then going through the process of promoting it and requesting links to it from other websites, blogs, lists, and resource pages where it would be helpful and relevant. Brian Dean of Backlinko is a big forerunner of this type of linkbuilding, and has seen great success with it for multiple companies.

I would tell them that I only want the high quality links. That I am not paying for the low quality. Stop making low quality and reduce my fee.

ok mozers i have a few questions. I am starting a new seo campaign and i want to target traffic for "how to make money on autopilot" Question 1. when it comes to link building i have seen some articles saying that i should not send all of my links to my landing page at once but to send links to my backlinks then index then using tiered link building. Is this a must or not? will i get penalized if i build 20 targeted links to my landing page in 1 day, lets say 20, pr7-9 domains? or should i tier it out and link maybe 5 pr9 domains to my landing page, then link 10 pr5 domains to each of those 5 pr9 domains and maybe link 20-pr1 domains to each of those tiered 2 pr5 domains? eq: Tier 1 = 5 PR-9 Tier 2 = 50 PR-5 Tier 3 = 1,000 PR-1 Question 2. Is their a certain amount of backlinks i need to use in order to out do my competitor? or does it just matter on the metrics of my backlinks? and when it comes to indexing these links do i need to index just the 5 pr9 links? or do i need to index all of them? or should i just index the landing page through google webmasters tools and hope it indexes all connecting pages? will doing any of these get my landing page indexed faster in order to rank faster? Question 3. Types of link building. Ok i am targeting guest blogs, wordpress sites, etc to put a link on. Should i focus on smm 'social media marketing' as well? or can i just focus on the traditional seo tactics first? Question 4. Keyword research. ok so my blog post is 'how to make money on autpilot' and from my keyword suggestion tools it picked up a list of keywords suggestions to target. Competition ranges from low to high, search volume ranges from 10 to 1900 visitors per month, after organizing the most relevant keywords to add to my campaign should i target each of the these keywords by creating a link building campaign for each one and target it to my landing page or use it as my 2nd or 3rd tier? those are the questions i really have for now. Scarce niche websites for link building
Hello! A small company from Mexico that offers cleaning services for home & businesses wants to rank on the first page of Google. The Good: Every month they give away stuff (discounts and/or a free service) and they also participate in campaigns that support non-profitable organizations & charity. So there is plenty of material for me to build some backlinks and to create some interesting content. Their competitors have 0 SEO. I have been doing my homework and none of their competitors websites that are ranking on the top 5 are doing any kind of SEO. But they have had their website for a long time and they probably have a decent amount of traffic per day. Open Site Explorer shows minimal to no websites pointing to them. Google Adwords has increased their sales. They are using virtually nothing as budget and it is helping, but they want organic SEO. The Bad: Blogs seem to be dead in Mexico. And that is one of my strongest ways to create backlinks. I usually get a blogger to write about the company I'm working for to create backlinks and works like a charm in countries were SEO is prehistoric. Usually it takes me very little effort to accomplish a website to rank very well in this kind of scenario, but I'm having trouble this time. The Something: I have been able to boost their rankings with basic SEO in a month but I'm stuck in page #2-5 on their most important keywords. The Ugly: I'm out of ideas. And their budget isn't good enough to apply paid strategies. Any ideas?

Link from archived article.
A strong news site has an "archived.domainname" folder, where they have older articles listed. I can get a link on a page where there is a 4 year old article, which will be in this archived sub-domain. My questions: Will Google view a link from a 4 year old article as less valuable. Will Google notice the article is 4 years old and find it odd why the page all of a sudden has a link to my site, and thus devalue such link the sub-domain "archived" does that tell Google it is old and a link will be less valuable thank you

Getting Started with Link-Building (Advice, Please)
Hi forum, my company has done almost ZERO link building, and most of the traffic we receive to our site is for our branded search terms (people searching for our company name). Our content and on-page SEO is pretty solid, but how would you suggest getting started in link building? We've dabbled in comment marketing, but almost all of these were unfollowed links. We already do PR and submit it to prweb.com. We have submitted to quite a few online directories and are currently working our way through relevant directories provided by SEOMoz. We do not want to pay for links, and we want to do all of this in house. We are committed to putting the time in to get high quality links by hand. Does anyone have any advice? How do you build domain trust and authority ?
I am doing some link building and was hoping to get some clear information about the quality of the links and what I need to build a higher domain trust and authority. My sites page I wish to build for has: DA 22 PA 33 MR 4.6 I am looking at back links with these figures Considering outbound links are equal, which pages can help build my page ? page1 DA 66 PA 48 MR 4.8 page2 DA 66 PA 35 MR 3.75 page 3 DA 66 PA 28 MR 3.5 page 4 DA 41 PA 18 MR 2.73 Page 4 DA 41 PA 18 MR 1.87 Do I need back links with a Domain Authority Higher than my own ? PA higher than my own ? or MR higher than my own ? or would any of these pages be able to improve my own ? Thank you in advance for helping with this as I do not want to spend 6 months building the wrong links.

Why traffic to my link has dropped suddenly?
Hi I would like to know why the traffic for the website link http://theindustrymeasure.com/2010/07/15/rediffmail-login has dropped suddenly on google.I used to get around 5000 page views on this page and then suddenly dropped to 15-20 . I still get good traffic from yahoo (around 500). Just before the drop I noticed that I started to get spammy trackbacks from Many questionable sources. I have not approved any of these trackbacks. The trackbacks are regular frequency of. 1 per day. is there any action which I can take to ensure that I get back my traffic. Traffic to other links are fine , only this page seems to have dropped off ever since the spam attack. As per seomoz tool I have a grade a for keyword rediffmail
