How to do Conversion Tracking for Homepage banners?
-
Hello All,
I want to do banner conversion tracking for my ecommerce site. That is at my homepage I display 4 banners with special offers on 4 different products. Now that 4 products are already falls in relevant categories. I did event tracking for banners from where I can know how many clicks I am getting from each banner but My Query is how to know conversion of all 4 banner products because once I create goal that is funnel like 1) home page 2) product page 3) checkout step 4) Thank you page. But problem comes here is if anyone purchase these product from categories that also comes in goal so how to differentiate conversion of products from homepage and category pages? Is there any implementation via enhance ecommerce?
Hope you understand my query? If any confusion do let me know.
Thanks!

I would recommend utilizing Google URL builder and build unique URLs for each banner. Most website ecommerce CMSs have a tracking template option where you can insert trackable links.
Under acquisition in GA, under campaign, you can see which banners are being clicked on.
Hope this helps.

Not sure if i have properly understood everything.
You count conversion through the "traditional" funnel / path already and now you want to know how many of these came from one of the 4 banners. Right?

Hi
e-commerce site? Do you have an online shop with a regular checkout, etc.? The details are very much dependent on your shop software, (cms software) and the way you track conversions in general, e.g. using Google Analytics + Google Tag Manager or only Google Analytics, etc. What do you use as a shop software (e.g. Woocommerce) and how to you track conversion in general?
You could implement everything by hand using (adding) parameters (?product=xxx & source=banner1) that are probably already there. But I guess that much is already there for you you just need to use it (configure it the right way).
This should help you to get a better overview and get started properly I guess: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009612?hl=en
Cheers,
Cesare

Google Analytics Campaign Tracking overriding each other
Howdy, fellow mozzers. So, here is the situation: Let's say someone comes to the website through Organic Google Search, and first thing they see is the banner on the website, on a click of which it takes you to a promotional landing page. I have this banner being tracked with GA campaigns. Now, here are my questions: If that user makes a purchase, which source / medium it will be assigned to? Organic/google or website/banner? (as far as i understand it assigns it to website/banner) If that's the case, is there way to find out afterwords where the website/banner sessions came initially from? If there is no such way, how shall i setup the tracking to be able to see wherre the initial visit to the website came from, yet also track how many people clicked on the banner and made a purchase? Thanks 🙂

Universal Analytics & Google Tag Manager - Track URLs that include hashes
Does anyone have any experience tracking URLs that include hashes (#) using Universal Analytics and Google Tag Manager? Can it be done using GTM's container for UA, using the "more settings" options? Or building another tag to work with the GTM UA container? The fallback I'm considering is implementing the UA code in GTM for every page as Custom HTML with the "ga('send', 'pageview', location.pathname + location.search + location.hash);" solution, rather than GTM's specialized UA tag. I'm not yet sure what problems may arise from that, if any. Thanks in advance.

Google Analytics Events that lead to Goals (conversions)
Hello! I'm in the process of setting up Events in Google Analytics to track the performance of banner ads on our site. While that will take care of the action performed by the visitor (i.e. the click on the banner), it doesn't tell me if the visitor ultimately completed the form where the banner ad directs them (which is set up as one of out site's Goals). Once the Event is in place, will I be able to track the Goal conversions that it leads to? It's nice that Events will tell me which banner drove someone to the form, but if I'm not able to see if that Event led to a Goal conversion it seems like something will be missing. So, is this something that's already available within Goals or Events reporting, or is there an additional step I need to take? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Erik

Ecommerce tracking problem with multiple domains on 1 web property
We recently launched 13 product marketing sites based on a Wordpress Multisite setup. To track all 13 sites we decided to use one web property, so we can use the same tracking code for all domains. To track the sites seperately, we set up a profile for each product site with a hostname filter. This works well for most stats, but eCommerce tracking is where the problem starts. Per profile we obviously want to track the products purchases on that website only. What happens now is that all purchases from all product sites are tracked on all profiles. How can we change this? Should I alter the eCommerce tracking code or can I fix this with an additional filter per profile? Thanks for your help Mozzers! Regards, Pieter van Diggele

Google Analytics Tracking Code Queries
Hello, I have taken on a new client who has Google Analytics installed. The tracking code is set to 'single domain'. Recently they added a mobile site using a sub-domain (m.website.com) which means that Google Analytics is not picking up this traffic. I want to revise the account so that I have a master account (raw data) and then profiles for the mobile site, main domain (www.website.com) and one other for a sub-domain that they are using. I am aware that there is mobile specific tracking code however I thought it would be easier (re conversions/goals/eCommerce tracking) to not use this and by changing the account to 'multiple domains' we could also get data for another sub-domain that they are using . My questions are: Am I right to want to use individual profiles over web properties. If not please explain why. When installing the tracking code (where the profile number is changing) I believe that I need to add that code with the changing profile number to the sub-domain sections. So my question is a) is that correct, and b) if I use a profile number on a sub-domain section will the master account still gather the data for the main URL as well as all sub-domains. If I change the master account from using 'single domain' tracking code to 'multiple domain' tracking code will this affect historical data? Will I lose the data? When changing from 'single domain' tracking to 'multiple domain' tracking does this affect eCommerce tracking? Or do we only need to be adding the additional lines of tracking code that allow sub-domains to be tracked? The web developers are using asynchronous code however half is in the and the other half is at the bottom of the source code. Given that traffic is being reported in the Google Analytics account should I have any concerns that the code is split? I have done a lot of reading but seem to be going around in circles, so your help is much appreciated! Thanks,

301 Tracking with Google Analytics hurts SEO?
Hey guys, I have an old-domain.com and a new-domain.com. old-domain.com has reputation and through a 301 redirect it's handling it over to new-domain.com. I want to know how many people still visit old-domain.com and track this with Google Analyitcs. I read the best solution for this would be a Google Campaign URL. My question: Does a URL like "http://www.new-domain.com /?utm_source=&utm_medium=redirect&utm_campaign=" hurt the effectiveness of the 301 redirect?
