Call forwarding phone number from a satellite location?
-
Should I be cautious about using a local number that is forwarded on to my main office?
I have 2 "satellite" offices. 1 has an actual phone number and line that is active at the location, and the other has a "local" number that is forwarded.
The location with the actual phone number and line that is active at the location is performing much better, and I am trying to isolate the cause.

Hi Ben,
So, Google's guidelines state:
-Provide a phone number that connects to your individual business location as directly as possible.
-Use a local phone number instead of central, call center helpline number whenever possible.
Given this, sharing a phone number between locations should be avoided. A unique phone number for each location of a multi-location business should be considered a necessary investment. However, the implementation of this (or lack of it) may or may not be the cause of ranking problems. It would be a good idea to do a complete audit of the second location to document all of the factors that could be causing that business to rank lower than its competitors in its city of location.

Is the forwarding number in your Google My Business listing?
Are the address real not shared & no P.O Boxes?
Do you do Face to Face business there?

"The location with the actual phone number and line that is active at the location is performing much better, and I am trying to isolate the cause."
Because most phone lines given by Comcast & the big ISP's are VOIP's I don't think is a VOIP problem I think Google sees your not in the location your forwarding from.
I use https://www.twilio.com/ for my companies phone numbers & so do many other companies
You need to show Google your in the "satellite offices" if the address is UPS office that's why also what size is the location it can be it's just smaller see your local ranking on https://moz.com/products/local
Use something like this if your locations rank the same? https://whitespark.ca/blog/call-tracking-numbers-google-business-whitespark-weekly/
Hope this helps,
Tom

How to fix directions to a place on Apple Maps, when the location itself is correct.
Hello Community, I do local SEO for our health system. I recently claimed and adjusted the marker on Apple Maps to our Emergency Room. I assumed since there's a road that leads right to it, the directions would change. But the directions send them to the front of the hospital building (instead of the emergency room entrance). Unfortunately, there is no way to get to the ER through the front of our hospital. So now I'm trying to fix the directions itself. I've searched through Apple Forums etc. looking for a solution without success. Any ideas on how I might fix the directions? Here is the exact location in case that helps. https://mapsconnect.apple.com/business/ui/editPlace?id=66160ad6-d915-11e6-b4a6-d3fec844f2f3

Multiple Location TROUBLE!
Hello Moz World, I have a client that has three brick and mortar locations. After placing all three locations into Google Places, I discovered that 2 of his 3 locations are not brick and mortar stores. They are actually his house, and his Mother's house. He is a plumber, and services most of the state. My question is, as a professional SEO consultant who wants to do the right thing, what should I recommend he do? How long before Google catches him, and what will actually happen? Should I advise him to play the system till he gets caught? And Lastly, does anyone have any recommendations on how to rank a single website for multiple cities within the state? Loaded Questions, Thanks ahead of time for all of the responses! B/R Will H.

Multiple locations and local directories
Hello, A client has opened a new office in another city. I have created a local landing page for this city. Now I want to build citations for it. However, I have already set up directories like Yelp/Yell with the primary/original address in the original city. Is it OK to set up new citations using the new city local address. The company name stays the same obviously. So I will have duplicate listings on the directories for the same company. Will this work? Thanks for any help

Deciding whether to list multiple locations
Hey Mozzers, thanks for your awesome help today. I have another related question to local listings. We're currently rebuilding our website and we have multiple physical locations across the UK. Is it beneficial SEO wise for us to display just one address on our contact page or should we list the 5 addresses that we have? I have also been checking out our local listings and it appears that we have inconsistent listings across the 13 sites that Moz local lists in the UK and then across various other directories. How important is it to get these cleaned up? Cheers in advance Leo

2 businesses same phone number
I was wondering how I should approach a scenario where I am optimizing two different companies websites that have the same phone number but different addresses. This sounds like a weird scenario, however it is out of my control. Is treating them as two separate companies fine, or do I have to take special precautions when submitting business directories and what not? Thanks for everyone's help! As a side note, is their a way to use Moz Local with both companies, right now it is getting confused as to what business belongs to what listing.

Different phone numbers in local listings
We are setting up Google My Business for a client who has multiple locations around the country. They use different phone numbers to track enquiries from different sources - Yell, Google+, Direct Web Traffic, PPC etc. Therefore the phone numbers can be different between Google My Business and local listings. How much does/would this affect the Local listing? It may appear that Google is penalising for businesses try to understand their customers and where they come from!

What is the optimum number of links on a page?
I have a local content based website which gives information of services under different categories and subcategories in a segment across multiple localities. Our menu is found across all pages and the menu has about 150 different links to sub-categories and categories. On any listings page that comes up, when you choose a particular category or sub-category, we have another 100 links relating to the individual listings in addition to the menu which is consistent across all pages. Is this a problem?

Would having 3 locations NAP in footer of site hurt?
We have offices in New York, London and Sydney. On our website, we used the Yoast local plugin and set up NAP for all 3 different addresses in the footer of the site - and hence all pages. Is that bad? Would G consider that as stuffing or whatever other word that they may deem to call it? Any help would be appreciated.
