Question about Homepage Title
-
Hi there, I recently made a change to the title URL for my site, and it changed how Google displayed my sitemap. Before it showed the most common sites, and now it simply links to 4 of them below the domain URL without descriptions. I have attached images below which shows my problem. I hope this is the right section for this question.
Thanks!

Great stuff - glad we could help!

Thanks! It seems like Google reverted it automatically. I adjusted the title length which it seems to have helped as well.

I notice one of the screenshots shows the "People Also Search for", which suggests it was a bounceback. Were the two queries exactly the same?
Sometimes, dropping expanded sitelinks can be a quailty issue, but sometimes, as Martijn suggest, Google adjusts their view of the query itself. Expanded sitelinks tend to signal a brand-like intent (or a dominant intent, in Google's view), and Google may have simply turned the volume up or down on this.
You could try to shorten or tweak the title back, of course, and it's relatively harmless, but my gut feeling is that this is more on Google's end (I could be wrong).

I would look into the advise from Nigel but also realize that Google is often tweaking and testing with the look and feel of the search results. Lately I've seen myself more of the classic links again but for a period I was only seeing the second screenshot with the links directly below the result.

Hi One2
the only problem I can see is that your title is too long. There is an ellipsis ... at the end of the search result (three dots) which means that the title is over the maximum number of pixels. (Usually about 580 or 70 characters.)
Try shortening, fetching Google and see if that helps.
I know of no other reason why it should do that.
Regards
Nigel

Downsides on shortening article title?
Hi there, I'm new to Moz: great tool so far! I just tried the page optimization feature and see that (for instance for this article) page titles are often too long. Now it's tempting to just shorten the title straight away, but I have a memory of someone once telling me changing the title will change the URL. And changing the URL is something not appreciated by Google. Could someone please explain if and why this is/isn't the case? And if there are any downsides/things to consider before changing the article's title? Thank you in advance!

Do you say Browser Title or Page Title?
I have seen much more use of "Page Title" of late....in fact hardly any of "Browser Title" except by some folks who are using a very old CMS. We need to go with one at my workplace to avoid confusion. My vote is Page Title. Thoughts? Thanks, Tim

Homepage SEO
Hi I have designed my site with about 10 pages which focus on my main keywords. My question is what should I do about the homepage? Do I focus on a keyword on just my brand name? The homepage is a showcase of all my services and a bit about us. Thanks

Silly question about noindex and canonical
Hi, This is probably going to sound a bit stupid, but I nevertheless want to check. We have a site that's going to have identical pages (really not my choice) for a sales reason. The two examples would be example.com/profile-name and example.com/location/profile-name Users using the onsite navigation will always end up in the latter example naturally as they have to select a location before viewing content (plus having the location in the url is nice as there are multiple profiles across different locations that have the same name). However, it's easier to sell our services when we can offer just example.com/profile-name to users for their own marketing reasons. I'd like to make the example.com/profile-name noindex follow, and have just the example.com/location/profile-name indexed, but not sure if it would be better to implement canonical tags instead? Can anyone see any potential pitfalls of using either method or does it not really make a difference (which is what I suspect, but I'd rather look stupid than get this wrong)? Thanks!

How to fix joomla duplicate page titles??
Hello, I have been using seomoz and sh404sef for almost a month now and can't seem to figure out my duplicate page title issue on my joomla site. I have changed everything I thought necessary but no luck. I have one page that I am trying to make dissapear from duplicate page title error and if I can figure it out i'm sure I can use same fix for the other 1,000 duplicate page titles being reported in my seomoz crawl report I have one link that I am working with sef url: http://www.mysite.com/contactus.html I have used sh404sef url manager and added page title, description and keywords to this link and for 3 weeks straight now it still shows that it is duplicate page title in my seomoz crawl report Is there something that I am missing somewhere or did i setup a bad campaign that is looking at wrong things on site? I 've attached image of my sh404sef settings for this link Thanks in advance screenshot1.jpg

Title Tag, Internal Categories, Long tail
Hello, For internal categories - those that are not in the main navigation - we're optimizing for the long tail. How do you optimize the title tag for the long tail? For example if the internal category is about Men's shoes -> "Adidas Crosstrainers" and you already have a page in the main navigation with "Adidas Crosstrainers" in the title, what kind of title do you use for the long tail category? These categories are usually for the convenience of the user. I assume they should each have at least 500 words in them to do the best long tail searches. Thanks.

Mobile blog creating duplicate title and content issues
My site is set up with a mobile website and after running the on page SEO report on moz it is returning multiple errors for duplicate title tags and duplicate content all related to the mobile website being a direct reflection of the main site. I want to know if this is really an issue. I'm sure Google actually knows the difference between my main site and the mobile version. Do I really need to go through each individual mobile page and change each page title and modify all the content? I really would like to avoid doing this but at the same time would like to fully optimize my site. Any advice is appreciated.

Title tags missing
I have noticed that some of my title tags have been altered (by Google?) on the SERP. I am only showing the keywords on some listings, not the full title tags that I wrote, this is happening to our competitors as well. Any idea what is going on, one of my clients is looking for answers! Thanks
