Does uploading our video to youtube, with link pointing back to our site, is counted as backlink to our site ?

The link on ones profile is DOFOLLOW - example : http://www.youtube.com/user/seomoz

They are nofollow, but can still be very valuable links, especially if the video goes viral and people want to click to your site. Any non-spammed or non-dodgy-paid link helps to broaden your link profile.

From what I understand the links from youtube are a nofllow, which means it will not influence the target page's ranking. A nofollow instructs Google and other search engines to take no notice of the link as a means for authority. Otherwise that would be the perfect way to build links from an authority site.
Links from twitter, facebook, wikipedea are also nofollow.

CDN image links passing SEO benefit?
We used a CDN to host all of the images on our site, and the paths are such:

Does having a link in a clear advertising area diminish the value?
We were pleasantly surprised when a new skateboarding magazine/blog popped up recently. We have a good working relationship with the guys who run the site and they dropped our logo and a link to our site on the home page of their blog. As a national skateboarding retailer, this is the kind of site we would naturally show up on with link, logo, content, etc. So we feel we gained a highly relevant, potentially valuable link. One question came up, however: by being linked to in an area that's clearly designated for advertisers, is our potential link value diminished? Is it considered duplicate contentnt to post a video to youtube then embed that video on our website's FAQs page?
Essentially, I am answering popular questions we are asked and answering them in a video. Once I post it on youtube, I take the video, add it to our FAQ page, and when someone clicks on the question, a new page opens with the question, the video, and the written answer to the question underneath it. Footer links vs Homepage Content
We are redesigning this site http://www.crystalshop.co.uk/ but not reinstating the ecommerce yet so the primary aim of the site is to increase foot traffic in the shops. The list of shops on the RHS of the homepage is really messy but is useful. I would like to move these to the footer... is this a bad idea? If this is, is it a bit of a gamble to move it to the bottom of the homepage rather than higher up as it is? We are already featuring a link to the shop finder page but I want to get the locations in as prominent place as possible but it's quite a long list!

Hi Interested in your views on this and any references to research on the subject Using Google Books recently I have discovered multiple citations of a web site I produced years ago in a whole load of publication. Really quite touching to find these 10 years afterwards I imagine that this must have a positive effect on search engine listings for this site. The site has really good listings still. Has any research or any announcement been made by Google about this. Pushing this a bit further ; An advertising hoarding has a web site address http:// ... would Google StreetView pick this up and could it be used as a signal too ? Neil PS No I don't sell adversing hoardings 😉
