Bounce rates plummeted
-
In Google Analytics, my average bounce rates plummeted basically overnight. I went from a consistent average daily bounce rate of about 65% to an average daily bounce rate near 5%. My average number of visitors has stayed the same. I don't think there is any significant change I made to my site that may have caused this. Has anyone else had the same problem and know why it happened and how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

I was just about to reply with check your analytics tools. I had the same issue happen on a WP site, and it was because I had two copies of GA running. Glad you figured it out, but so sorry that wasn't your true bounce rate!
-
Good to hear you worked it out

For anyone who else who may be curious, I ended up figuring out what the problem was. We had installed a WordPress plug in to track outbound links from the site so a lot of people that left the site were being recorded as having an event and therefore were not a bounce. When I disabled the plug in our bounce rates went back to normal.

I havent done the maths, but yes that sounds about right
-
Our Pages/visit average did also go up by about 2 pages around the same time. Would that be enough to account for a 60% drop in bounce rate??? A 5% bounce rate seems too good to be true.
-
has you Pages/Visit gone up?
if your bounce rate goes down, you would expect Pages/Visit to go up.

The low bounce rate is great. If the data is accurate. My concern is that the data is not accurate. We went from about 65% to 5% in 2 days yet we made no changes on the site.
So in other words, if it we had done something to create the dramatic decrease, that would be great. But we did nothing. And given the huge decrease we are left to wonder if there is a problem with the data.
Thoughts?

Fix it? A low bounce rate is good. it means 95% of people are visiting more the one page of your site.

Bounce rate and Chrome
My client had a large spike in their bounce rate at the end of June, 2017. After spending far too long looking around Google Analytics I discovered that the bounce rate increased 5x when version 59.0.3071.104 of Google Chrome appeared on the scene. Version 59.0.3071.102 and older had a bounce rate of about 13%. Version 59.0.3071.104 increased to 65%. Each subsequent version is about the same.FireFox, Safari and the rest are showing no significant changes.Any idea what is happening here? Many thanks.

Why might my websites crawl rate....explode?
Hi Mozzers, I have a website with approx 110,000 pages. According to search console, Google will usually crawl, on average, anywhere between 500 - 1500 pages per day. However, lately the crawl rate seems to have increased rather drastically: 9/5/16 - 923

Specific Industry Website Conversion Rates: Lighting
Hi All, There's loads of info around on general retail conversion rates, but does anyone have any experience with online lighting shops and typical conversion rates? This is a highly price driven shopper, and from my experience so far they bounce around looking for the best price... We've recently taken ownership of this new site, and I'm not sure I can relate general metrics to this site... although there is lots of work to do on here! Cheers in advance.

Title Tag Capitalization Impact on SERP Rankings and Click Through Rates
My company made a branding decision to use lowercase for all of our title tags. This, of course, means that our titles on SERPs are all lower case. Overwhelmingly, it seems that websites use title case. This makes me wonder if we're shooting ourselves in the foot. Does using lower case titles negatively impact our rankings and/or click through rates? Is there any data out there suggesting that title case has a better click through rate than lower case? Thanks for reading!

Has GA changed how it calculates bounce rate?
Updated website from Magento backend to Wordpress and since the redeploy, my bounce rate has dropped from 40% to 4%. I did check to see if there was duplicate GA tracking code but only one call. I checked reports under "visitor flow" and one page visits seem inline with the previous bounce rate. Weird. Never experienced this before.

Low bounce rate; need help troubleshooting code
I've had an outside developer do a bunch of custom work in Google Analytics to get my site to integrate with Foxycart and accurately report sales in the ecommerce section. With a foxycart upgrade came more GA tweaking, and now my bounce rate is at 1-2%. I know this isn't right, and suspecting there is something triggering GA a second time, causing a second page load, or something. Could someone that loves code look at http://www.strikemodels.com/ and tell me if they can easily spot what's obliterating the accuracy of my bounce rate calculations? Or do I need to go back to my dev and up the can of GA worms to troubleshoot things? As you can tell by the code, I'm running the latest version of WP with a few plugins, Thesis 1.8, and on Apache.

Analytics bounce rate change
Hi mozzers, I have a little riddle. A few weeks ago the bounce rate on one of our website dropped 90% - from 45 % average to 5 % average. We haven't changed much in the code of the site, layout or anything else. The traffic is pretty stable too. Anyone can guess why? Or have experienced something similar? xOvrb.jpg
