Oh it's hard to find those types of links. Try what Chris said. You should also try putting just the URL in the google search bar to see what else comes up. There are other tactics you can do but in the end it's worthless because you can't really do anything about it. Even reporting it wont help.

Ive seen plenty of those before the last update, but now most are nowhere after the update so the algorithm has gotten better detecting those "ghost" networks.

You will actually hear a lot of crap in places like that. Actually, ive been to events where speakers just talk crap. Stuff they don't even test, just "heard" or made up.

Technically, it is a paid link, but how would they know it is? Not really something you need to worry about as long as the "link" is done differently, so they dont leave obvious footprints.

Pretty sure lots of people will disagree with this, but it's the truth.

Definitely not something Id be worried about, as long as you set the proper rules and restrictions on what they can post/how long it is/how they link

Main thing I'd worry about is anchor text so just set proper choices for them.

Not that much people will actually link to you (people are naturally lazy or don't have blogs) so don't worry. I would just put the site's brand in there like "Link to Brand or url" and have it change from time to time. You can have you developer create a simple form where people can enter what they want and it would generate an embed code which will fit their site/blog perfectly.

In my experience, people will choose to use social buttons rather than sharing actual links on their blogs (I'm referring to regular people unless you target bloggers) so having the buttons there would give you more benefits rather than not having it on the page.

Im assuming you dont have any existing penalties, you just dropped those links into the disavow to clean up the link profile right?

If so, then you will notice a drop in ranking within 2 weeks usually (if the site benefited from those links)

Building new links, content and doing outreach shouldnt be a problem to it. It will just do it's own thing.

What I do for situations like that (I would assume the short term goal would be to start showing up for that brand when you search for it)  - I'd decide if it's really possible to get on that search term quickly. For the example "Crazy Man" I would deem it to be a longer term project since it's very general and even a kid will type that in. I would go for the "no-space" version for this one

For a brand term like "Cheese Media" I would definitely start with the space since nobody really searches for something like that and you'd easily get that "brand"

Either way, during the course of your brand name building process (unlinked mentions, links, citations) - I would throw in the alternate version for a certain % of the time. Long term, you'd see your brand to start ranking for that as well.

Personally i prefer making up unique names when im starting a new business, it makes the branding/seo part easier lol

I cant really comment on what their exact process is in there but I have experienced getting an RR rejected even after 3 weeks.

In theory, i think when you submit a disavow list, it gets processed in a few hours. Your RR will then be viewed by some outsourced personnel in Asia where they can read your RR (when it's your turn after a queue) then cross check from their "culprit links" database (from manual penalties) to see if you have indeed included those links in the disavow list. Then they send you an email telling you that you missed some links along with a couple examples. lol

they will reply to you even if it takes them over 3 weeks. I've never had an RR go past 3 weeks. Just wait a few more days.

I would suggest keyword research and planning out how you want them to flow. You will also need to look at your permalinks since you are using wordpress as you might prefer to show the category in the URL

Easiest path would be to just let the post name be the permalink, excluding categories in the url, then you just move them to their respective categories.

Take your time and carefully plan everything out first, you will also need to fix the old URLs to point to the new ones so don't forget that.

I would start with good old webmaster tools. Check the impressions/queries area. As they havent removed that yet.

SEMrush is also quite good.

Ive used them, but it's pretty limited. Nothing beats a personally curated list of sources to link to.

definitely go with long tail branding on the front page. I would create a specialty page for the specific service to "further elaborate" on what we do and what they get or something like that. You homepage will give those pages a boost and you can even get 2 pages to show up.

I would definitely recommend to optimise for better CTR. My lazy way is to just Buffer(app) the posts, see how the reaction is and the CTR, and republish it with a tweaked social media title and image. Image is king on social so I do tests for that.

I saw an article here on moz some days back, which is one of the better ones ive seen recently about Facebook http://moz.com/blog/forget-googles-games-make-social-a-primary-traffic-source you might want to take a look.

Moz has a million different scraped content and links and it's still ok.

The current Google is kinda good at detecting this but obviously, there will be times that your scraped content will rank better than you.

Try to get the basics in like authorship to at least notify Google earlier about the content. Not much you can do to scraper sites

As for Panda, it shouldn't. You should be ok.

From my experience, it's actually ok, but i try to keep it below 65 characters and as long as it's just a few pages (not more than 50)

Some people will definitely want different title tags each time but I look at it depending on the website.

Don't be afraid to ask here, we will try to help out as much as we can.

Check their analytics, see how far they've fallen. Monitor the rankings first and study it.

If you see dancing URL's (changing urls, dropping to 50-200 then to the original ranking) etc then that's an obvious penalty.

You might want to start with cleaning out and ironing out the existing links, try to improve those.

Get new strong links, all the while analysing and creating a spreadsheet for the bad links to submit.

Since this is local, it might just be because of the local changes, the business listings ,etc that hurt their visibility. You might want to optimise their local seo process + links first and see if they improve. If they do, then that makes things easier.

did you mean that your URL shows up on page 2 when you type in the url or brand? I'm with Robert, you have to be clearer

I can't speak for everyone because a lot will definitely tell you to jump ship and nofollow it or remove it. My take is just to leave it and continue with your diverse link building. I've seen that happen a lot, local or not and I've never seen a good site like that hurt another site.

is this a local ecom site? You will definitely face local classified ads, spammy competitors etc and most of the time, they will outrank you. It's just the way local is for those outside the USA side.

The good thing is, most of these competitors just stop spamming and the real clients that eventually find you will be loyal to you. Just continue what you are doing, if possible build a social community as well. Try to get some more local coverage (if you are indeed targeting local) and look at your webmaster tools. See where you need to improve.

Finally, test a PPC campaign. You'll see a whole lot more data vs just waiting for WMT data. You can get ahead earlier and improve your converts.

Definitely from the penalty. I've seen it countless times. Branded sites that wont show up for brand keywords, ugh, hate seeing that when potential clients approach us.

Depends on how fast your pages get crawled again, which depends on your niche and your domain trust as well.

Ive gotten badly optimised ecom sites to rank by just making great onpage seo changes. In a highly competitive space, you will see less "drastic" jumps but you'll still be able to see it. Be sure to add great unique content on your category pages ok?

it's indexed for me. As for the FB page ranking, backlinks. Backlinks in mass works well to rank fb pages. Just dont forget to continue to engage your market.

the cleaner/bigger the image, the better they perform for me. I tested this in the "sexy celebrities" niche where you get to compete with thousands of new players everyday and authority sites. Ive gotten great organic image traffic just by optimising it there.

Just get those links. Consider it as a way to diversify your current link portfolio. Wouldn't that actually be natural looking vs everything being within the same niche? Plus those links are one of a kind so just don't worry about it.

If you really can't help but worry, ask for Brand/URL anchor texts with a "long-enough" description. You'll be fine

definitely dont see anything wrong with cross social shares. Not something I would even worry about.

Id make sure your site can load fast, promote engagement with social media, other posts you have or whatever, so you lower your bounce rate and improve your inbound signals. You should be ranking better than ever after that. Just keep them on the site and make good use of your traffic

As long as your base links are good, those links wont really mean much unless he knew what he was doing lol.

you just said it's competitive so you better start off page seo asap. You wont rank for spammed out niches like iphone cases if you dont start doing link building, unless its ultra long tail.

ecommerce onpage seo, you seem to know it already, just make sure you have some good content on your category pages, it's one of those things people forget.

If this was in wordpress, there are plugins to mass fix this or you can just do it the hard way. I would just opt to remove those from being indexed but follow them. Shouldnt hurt too much and will help in the long run.

I actually got a good boost, mostly from sites with minimal (to no) link building. Just great onpage. So it's possibly a Panda. I havent really researched it much yet due to time constraints

Share it to both. Get as much eyeballs to see it, basically get enough followers. Force them to +1 it lol. Don't bother yourself with tracking them if each has their own audience

I would start with keyword research. Those keywords will always be competitive, but it's what you will have to aim for.

Start going through other words related to it(or longer tail keywords so it's easier) - make a list on a spreadsheet and start working on those to build your relevance and trust. Targeted to your inner pages. Yes, the Jules Verne example you mentioned is also something you can do at this point.

Eventually, with a properly optimised ecom site, you will start ranking for different words you werent even considering and you will have to do more for those to increase traffic even more. Never forget to build your brand and to actually getting the word out using other mediums, that will speed things up.

Tip: Be sure all your products have unique content, as well as on the category pages.

Try to read more about keyword research and ecommerce. Places like inbound.org has a good compilation

Anyway, if it's just local, then that is fine. If you plan to build the brand globally eventually, then it's best to start with a brandname domain. Since it's not available, something that would be short rather than using dashes (-) will be better for recall and trust.

if you think you think you can add more to the topic, then just update it. If the content is very good and has been driving consistent traffic for a long time, i would make it to a static page (same permalinks) then make sure it's very visible throughout the site.

i would ask them directly if they have options or if theres an opportunity for you to write for them or contribute and what can be done. Dont waste too much time thinking if you want the link because I think you already do Plus it's local, it wont be too strict with just 1 link.

For a good example for footer area links, look at Zappos and how they do theirs.

as long as the link looks naturally possible to be there...id go with it. It's not like you are running a nationwide campaign of asking for positive reviews in exchange for flowers or gifts

it's a pretty good site. Youll get referrals from time to time. For niche topics, you can get more views since you will be higher up. Just add your site, it's basically an RSS directory, but owned by a former apple employee. lol

it depends on the niche and the specific keyword. It's actually pretty normal on many niches. Some are monitored more closely by Google. Some get away with it for the next 3-6 (sometimes more) months

Those tactics still work, with just a few tweaks this time around and not just 1 anchor blasts. Plus there are a lot of non-mainstream tactics being applied today so it is harder to find out. You can see them with majestic, and your other link checkers, but most of the best SEO's, you won't see their links at all.
