So Google does not allow people to buy links or exchange a link for a link. They also penalize for low-quality / spammy link building. Those are the two things that they don't like.

Here at Moz, we gamify our Q&A and blog comments with MozPoints. At 200 MozPoints, you get the first link in your profile followed. This works for us because we also heavily moderate in order to make sure people aren't gaming the system just for MozPoints. (Happens all the time.) Also, if you write a guest blog post for us, your links will be followed, but again, it's okay because we edit and make sure the links are relevant and moderate, moderate, moderate. Additionally, we have so many links pointing to us from a variety of sources and a ton of relevant links in both directions that a handful of potentially off-topic links are a drop in the bucket.

Random extra thought: You could give people discounts to the places that you want them to record at.

You want to do / can do a couple a things:

1. Make sure it's really super simple stupid easy for people to upload their videos. You'll need to do lots of user testing to make sure anyone can upload their stuff. Make sure you call it out and ask people to do so.

2. You can gameify it someway. Example, you might start by giving people a 10% discount for uploading a video.

3. You can seed a few videos. People tend to do things when they see others do it. You can use your staff to do it and show it off. Or you can send free merch to bloggers/influencers and ask them to make videos. You can't force them, but this can seed your pages for a start. I did something similar years ago, and it was very successful.

Yes, you can create a custom, automated report for that filter. You want to go into Rankings and filter the information. When adding the module to create the report for the rankings section, the button is at the very tippy top.

You want to make sure that you are creating listing on relevant directories, not just directories because they are there and you can put a link on them. Do be careful. You'd hate to have a Penguin cleanup on top of an ORM problem.

After taking a look at your site, it might actually be overly optimized for the term "swinger." Specifically, it shows up on your homepage (in the various sections) in the text 122 times. This is an older, but still good WBF from Cyrus talking about over optimization and how it can hurt you.

A quick look at your backlink profile for your homepage shows not very links that are followed and aren't on low-quality and potentially spammy directories, as you mentioned. Building quality links back to your site will definitely help. Getting more content built will definitely let you build links a lot better.

When it comes to content and social media in the adult space, PornHub is really leading the innovation. They wrote a great article about what they do for our blog. Definitely when it comes to content, part of the problem with your site is that everyone is behind a log-in and thus, behind closed doors for Googlebot. I haven't seen anyone in the swinger space really own content and social; and that could definitely set your company apart.

It's best to either do redirects to pages that are essentially the same - did the blue candle have it's color renamed to robin's egg and thus got a new SKU/page? - or to build a creative 404 page that helps customers find the most common thing they look for on your site and putting a search box to help them. It's most likely to hurt you from a perspective of low-quality content, which a lot of retail sites get dinged with. In an ideal world, having size as option to choose and only one product page is best with information about all sizes on that page. However, Matt's canonical suggestion also works as a bandaid.

301s only cause a slight loss in link authority, and is what you want to do longterm. Your current 302s are actually worse, and doing nothing for your link authority to the pages they're redirecting to since 302=temporary, which tells Google you're still making up your mind.

This won't hurt you as it's a common organic happening. Lots of sites do this, and you shouldn't worry about it.

From what I understand, it sounds like your CMS creates a bunch of 404 pages that then auto-bounce back to their parent folder. But that these are phantom pages that don't exist? My recommendation is to use robots.txt to no follow, no index. If they are blank pages, you can also add that to the blank page's meta data. Canonical tags are always a good idea.

If they have follow links, the deal's backlink will enhance your SEO efforts as they are legitimate links that are there for a helpful to the user purpose and coming from a strong domain.

If the pages are worth the effort of 301'ing them, I wouldn't worry about page speed for them. Besides link authority from those old pages, you should also look for traffic, since 301s are actually more about seamless experience for the people coming to your site.

Most email companies function on a monthly fee, which then is factored in how many emails you send per month through them. Many companies choose to separate out their transactional emails and their marketing emails to keep costs down.

If I was in your shoes, even though your canonicals are working (great step #1), I'd be inclined to clean up the URLs are much as possible and 301 any duplicate pages that you can get approval for. You'll always want to have your canonicals coded in regardless. But having less actually pages will save you in other areas - content audits, Google bot and other bots crawl time, space on your server, confusion for customers, etc. Less can be more in this case.

We are currently in the process of revising our community etiquette, which will hopefully more explicitly cover some undesired behaviors that it doesn't. Though the current one does cover spammy thumbs.

Okay, that is extra weird. It could be that GWT hasn't update your information since you made the changes. Since everywhere else is telling it's correct -- especially the fetch tool -- then you should wait a few more days and see if it updates.

Yeah, if it's still showing as a soft 404, there's still something wrong. I'd try using fetch and render as Google bot and see what happens.

I'd check to make sure your 301s were done correctly. If they are showing up as soft 404s, they are probably implemented wrong.

Are you seeing this when someone "likes" your page?

When I copied your link and posted it to my Facebook, it worked just fine, and I'm not seeing it.

In the Open Graph meta tags, used for better social sharing, you specific the URL there. Which means, you wouldn't need to change your canonicals, just your open graph tags.

Also, Facebook can be weird due to caching, and they have an entire debugging tool to help you make your page show up correctly.

I've recently be using ScreenFly to test my sites, and it's been great.
