How do you mean unreliable? Do you mean it's down or do you mean it is not accurate?

RE: Stopping slow steady decline
You should get an Advanced Google Analytics Consultant to figure out what is happening. I know if I were in this problem, I would be running a lot of Advanced Segments. Every business is different so there's no canned responses. Also the reason I say to hire someone for an analysis is if what you say is true and you don't believe the site has a penalty, then you can be losing traffic for many other reasons.
You need to find out "why" conversions are lower.

RE: Do "search keywords" matter?
I agree with John.
I never use the Keyword tag for anything. nobody is going to look at that unless they are a marketer.

RE: Beyond Guest Blogging, What Else Works Now?
We don't know exact what Google does to rank websites. I think it's a good thing doesn't let us know the algorithm.
I think link building through guest blog posting should only be one thing you should do. How about leaving testimonials on other websites? I have used that successfully especialy with companies that use our service.

Awesome! Let me know how it goes.

RE: Some posts not showing on Google search if I seach them using post title?
You are using a trademarked name in your Domain. Here in USA, it's illegal to use a Trademarked name without permission from the company.
It's like saying appleiphoneme.com
-
RE: What kind of pages are they?
This is WP links. These are probably results of a bot (maybe googlebot) going into your search bar and entering in numbers to see if there are any other pages they can discover. It's probaly nothing to worry about. I personally wouldn't worry about it
-
RE: Some posts not showing on Google search if I seach them using post title?
Why would you want to "protect" your articles? Why not rel="canonical" them? If you fear getting scraped, put links in the content pointing back to your site.
Yoast has a great plugin so that's not the issue.
Here is one of the main reasons you will NEVER rank. Your domain is using a GOOGLE trademark. http://www.androidgadgematic.com/

RE: Is Link Building Pretty Much Irrelevant Now?
Build links to your blog post, not to your home page. Also, I use Hootsuite to put the same blog post one rotation, ie I tweet,fb, g+ the same post multiple times.
I guess maybe I have an unfair advantage in that I market a site that already has authority. There are many subjects in the webinar on this. The webinars are included in your SEOMOZ subscription: http://www.seomoz.org/webinars

RE: Which Blog Extension is the best for a Magento E-commerce Site?
I have never used Aheadworks. As far as I know, it's a pretty reputable company that makes many Magento plugins.
-
RE: Google Local & Google+
Yes. Here's an example.
El Pollo Loco (a fast food restaurant in California) - 1 BRAND Page
5,000 locations - Each location gets a postcard from Google verifying the location. Each post card has a PIN#. Since every Local G+ Page has it's own respective location, people can leave reviews for that particular location, not the company itself.
-
RE: Google Local & Google+
1 company = 1 Brand page
5 locations = 1 page for each location. Each location gets it's own reviews.

RE: Which Blog Extension is the best for a Magento E-commerce Site?
I would probably take it one step further and say to use Magneto if you have or expect higher volume sales. Even if a magento site has 10 products, but there are 100 sales per day, it's better than WP.
I use WP everyday as well as Magneto. But we are getting off topic now.
-
RE: Is Link Building Pretty Much Irrelevant Now?
LOL! I haven't done link building in over 1 year. Once in a while I'll write a guest blog post with a link pointing back, but about once per month.
I weathered all Panda and Penguin updates. I still get links from other companies, but I don't make much effort building links.
What you are saying happens exactly to me.
-
RE: Which Blog Extension is the best for a Magento E-commerce Site?
I just checked the link. It works.
WordPress = Static Site/BLog
Magento = eCommerce.
I don't think anyone should be running an ecommerce site using WP, ESPECIALLY if they are doing high volume. Magento is built for ecommerce. Wordpress isn't. You have to find a plugin.
Ecommerce involves transactional emails, tracking numbers, customer accounts, repeat orders, and way more. WP is okay for only a few products.

RE: Is Link Building Pretty Much Irrelevant Now?
WEBBY! Nice topic. Let me share something. My clients have great rankings too. Yes there is always room for improvement, but how much? Get a REAL Google Analytics report to uncover opportunity.
In addition, look at your incoming traffic. I told my clients that I have to stop being so dependent on Google because a change in their algorithm can cause a dip in traffic. I started changing focus from link building to relationship building. Some call it community building, some build their Fabebook/Twitter account. I help individuals and try getting them to grow so I can get my clients repeat business. That's the key on my end, repeat business.

RE: PHP Framework Question! Zend, CakePHP, Symfony, CodeIgniter. Finally I get to ask something.
Hey Highland. Thanks for taking the time to answer. I use Magento all the time. I remember how slow it was in 2008 when I 1st started using it.
I value your comment "The key to our simplicity is copious documentation (inside and outside the code)." I think this is the main problem we had run into before and my fear is that the current programmer is the only one who understands his own work. We trust the guy with all the information, but he's so slow at getting things done that I sometimes want to get him some assistance. But that new person may have to decipher everything.
I have taken some courses in PHP, but I don't code because I'm the one bringing in all the money to the company via internet. I don't have the time to code, although I would love to do it myself.
"Life is too short for Java." LOL

RE: PHP Framework Question! Zend, CakePHP, Symfony, CodeIgniter. Finally I get to ask something.
Hey Jack, thanks for that link and your answer. I was already looking into CodeIgniter. One of the coders I use prefers CodeIgniter.
The system is going to have people's SSN, Passport information, and things like that. So I have to be careful who I select to do the project.
Also, I see you're new to SEOmoz. Welcome!

RE: PHP Framework Question! Zend, CakePHP, Symfony, CodeIgniter. Finally I get to ask something.
I don't see why we shouldn't. The last program we had was in PHP. It worked, but the code could only be understood by the developer. It was so customized and there were patches everywhere to make things work. When I wanted somethings done, these tasks were too hard too implement or were going to take too long.
I want to use a framework to be able to scale our backoffice. I am bringing in more qualified traffic to the company every month and they will need to hire more people. I personally don't want the company to hire more people. I want them to invest in a system that can make their process more efficient and save the money by not hiring people.

RE: Google Analytics Search Engine Optimisation Report

PHP Framework Question! Zend, CakePHP, Symfony, CodeIgniter. Finally I get to ask something.
Hey ya'll! We are looking to re-build our backoffice website. It's a dynamically generated site that pulls information from a DB. The DB is populated by the quote form. The DB contains the customers' info, shipping, email templates, and everything to process orders. The backoffice website is custom made in JAVA, but the owner is not happy with the programmer. I told the owner we may want to go to a PHP Framework.
My question is which PHP framework would you recommend and why?
Zend
CakePHP
Symfony
CodeIgniter

RE: Google Analytics Search Engine Optimisation Report
I always ignore GWT info from GA. I think it's pretty weak. I only use GWT to check the health and other things directly related to the site, not rankings. GWT is all over the place. Even Rand mentioned this long ago at MozCon.
If you are looking for real search engine custom reports, go to Avinash's website kaushik.net. He is VERY well know in the GA world. I'm a graduate of his program.

RE: Client has been COPYING blog posts to wordpress.com for years. Now what?
I would rel canonical it too.
-
RE: Trading Backlinks a good idea?
I never really do link exchanges unless they are part of a blog post. Also, I don't link to sub-par websites or unrelated websites. It's okay to link to another site and they link to you. One example is I have my BBB Membership page point to my site and I point many links from my site to that single BBB Page.
Look at the site you are going to link to and ask yourself, "Can this potentially cause a problem in the future? What's the risk?" I have turned down MANY sites wanting to link exchange, but if they are willing to write a high quality guest blog post, then I'm fine with it whether I get a back link from their site or not.

RE: Is .co worth the time?
Then I wouldn't mess with a .co unless you wanted to buy up all the TLDs for you brand name. For instance, if I were HP, then I would get HP.co for trademark reasons.

RE: Unstructured citations
My brother ranks in Yelp in #1 position. He has several bad reviews, but he still gets business. He responds with rebuttals for the reviews are always fresh.
Read this: http://searchengineland.com/bad-merchant-google-may-drop-your-rankings-151028
Matt Cutts is going to start hammering sites that have bad merchant reviews. Hopefully Matt Cutts doesn't wipe out my brother.
-
RE: I noticed that my company owns a few exact match domains that are relevant to our business. Is it worth doing anything other than just redirecting them to our homepage?
Exact match Domains aren't as effective as they were 1 year ago. Matt Cutts made a Youtube video about this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAWFv43qubI This one is a little older.
Also, it depends on how much effort you have to put into marketing this domain. The only time when I think I would use an exact match domain would be if my site was ranking so high for all the keywords that I wanted to hog up the SERPS by taking slots #2 and #3.

RE: Site dropped suddenly. Is it due to htaccess?
If it's not a robots.txt or htaccess issue, then check GWT for malware.
If you are getting de-indexed, maybe your browser is remembering (cache) you queries. You sure you didn't write the .htacess the wrong way?
Contact Ryan Kent if you believe you need some link penalty removals.
-
RE: Site dropped suddenly. Is it due to htaccess?
Manually add the URLs into GWT. You can do about 500, I think.
-
RE: Best Place To Aggregate Customer Reviews?
I think this is a great perspective. In addition, I think there is great potential with G+ reviews if you can get them.
-
RE: SEO for ecommerce site. Where do I start?!
I normally don't leave long responses and I don't read long comments either. But I wanted to say that your subscription to SEOMOZ includes webinars. Here is one of them: http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/ecommerce-seo-fix-and-avoid-common-issues
If you have the money, buy the MOZCON videos and watch: E-Commerce SEO -- Tips & Tricks (http://www.seomoz.org/videos/e-commerse-seo-tips-and-tricks)
-
RE: Link Diversity
i partially agree with Chris. However, links need to be distributed to different landing pages. For god sakes, if the only page a website can build links to is the home page, then none of the other pages deserve to rank.
-
RE: Is .co worth the time?
The only time I think a ccTLD is worth it is if it's for marketing to a specific country. I don't think I have ever seen a .co. I have seen many .co.uk though. What country are you in and what countries are you marketing to?
-
RE: Will google regards www.example.com and www.example.com?331457 as the duplicate content?
Rel="canonical" it. That's my answer.
-
RE: Will google regards www.example.com and www.example.com?331457 as the duplicate content?
I agree OR they should be made using the Google URL builder. GA will start recording your campaigns.
-
RE: Site dropped suddenly. Is it due to htaccess?
I would wait until the next crawl. Check your GWT to see when the last crawl was. Also, they may be taking their time to see if your site will disappear again. Make SURE it's up and running and no 404s.
I think you'll be okay if you have a good link profile.

RE: What needs to be done to tell google my site has moved /changed
Once you do the transfer, robot.txt the old temporary domain.
-
RE: Using Online Communities for link building..
If you're going to participate in a community, do it to be part of the community, not for links. I don't really post my website here on SEOMOZ, but people do contact me to give me work. Besides, most forums that I have seen have nofollow links because they don't want to get spammed.
One other thing, look at GWT for those links. You can use OSE, but it's not as good as GWT.

That's exactly how I do mine. The full URL is what you are missing. You need the http:// in it.

RE: Where would you advertise for a quality Guest Poster
Yep! I agree on finding people on CL. You can find some good quality English speaking people right out of college.
I lucked out and found an American with a degree in journalism.

RE: Changing Domain Name
If the current domain is a WP site and the new .edu is going to be a WP site too, then this is easy. Export the sql file (mysql) through myphp admin so you have a back up. Copy all the files via FTP.
Upload the WP files you copied and hook them up to the same database.
You can have many websites pulling the same information from the same database. 301 the old URLs.

RE: Subdomain or Start over?
If you are trying to do something like that where the audience is only for local business, then you can do it just like city search and craigslist.org.
"IF" you target market is similar, then you have a choice between subdomain and folders. Do what is best for your audience.
