What company/person do you recommend for improving conversion rates on landing pages?
-
Hello! I'm looking for specific recommendations of companies with whom you have been "Tickled pink at fantastic conversion improvement results!"
I'm the customer for this service.
I seek a page-level review of a specific area of my site. I'm looking for output of specific recommendations for improving conversion rates. I want to avoid paying for a "generic best practices report" with one or two ideas for my site sprinkled in.
I realize that I will be called to complete proper input into the process. I am ready to do my share with the level of detail required.
So, if you have an enthusiastic recommendation, please share. Details are appreciated. Most important, please tell me why this company made you very happy.
I sincerely look forward to SEOMozzer input. Thank you kindly, Loren

What is the cost for something like this?
-
We sent them URLs for pages that we wanted to improve along with our objectives and concerns. They reviewed those pages in advance of a small webinar where we both looked at the pages on screen.
They told us what they would change and marked up the screen with suggestions. All of this was recorded so we did not have to take notes and could watch the recording later as many times as we want.
They started at home page and gave us comments... went onto sales page and gave us comments.... went into shopping cart and gave us comments.
We looked at sample pages from other websites to compare how others have optimzied. We looked at what sitetuners is doing on their own website to see how they optimize.
After this meeting we spent a few days making changes then had another webinar to review.
We did this on pages that receive a very small number of conversions per month where it could take a very long time to get enough data for meaningful decisions. We applied similar changes to other parts of our site and believe that we are making more sales. (This in my opinion is one of the most valuable things about the service. When you have high value conversions that don't occur very often you can get expert advice on how to optimize the page - without letting an A/B test run for months. Surely their guesses are going to be a lot better than mine!)

For small one-on-one consulting, they wont be the go to people. They do large long term engagements over long periods of time. They would be more of a free resource for webinars (which are fantastic) that can pretty much teach you everything you would need to know to do it yourself.

Hello Brad and EGOL,
Site Tuners popped up several times as a recommendation. I've given them a call and chatted with Jay (sales). I could not get a strong feel for the actual process. I was led back to the site during the call (which I studied carefully before I contacted them) which did not offer more information than I already understood.
Maybe I was "off my game" during the call.
Brad, since you have used them before an were happy with Site Tuners, I'd like to ask you a few questions. Please indulge me.
-
What were the best 2-3 things about the experience/process?
-
What were the measurable results?
-
What were things where they could improve (or rubbed you the wrong way) in the process?
And, I must ask because personal interaction sometimes makes/breaks the experience: **Were there specific people that really "wowed" you in the process? ** I'd love to know because in the call, the sales person referred to the "team" and wouldn't talk about individuals and strengths/availability. While I understand that sales approach, it's very much about the person to whom I am assigned.
**Thanks for the details. ** Follow up wisdom would be wonderful. Kindly, Loren

Great suggestion Brent. I am somewhat familiar with http://www.optimizely.com/ -- who seems to be a competitor to http://visualwebsiteoptimizer.com/ .
Do you have input on why one may be better than the other? Kindly, Loren
-
Thanks Ryan. I've queued up time to study some webinars. I called them to chat about the research partnership. I'm unsure it's their core business practice for one-on-one efforts. Yet, I'll let you know what happens when their sales people reach me.

I second this. We have used Site Tuners a few times now with great results.
Each time we did a 90 min express review and got a full 1 on 1 conference call with a landing page optimisation specialist. The call is recorded and they will help you with (a few) follow up emails to clarify any points. They even reviewed our on-site changes after the call as part of the 90 min package. Well worth it.

Go to MarketingExperiments.com. They are the sister company/research arm of Marketing Sherpa. I have been in the industry for a long time and they are the best conversion/landing page optimization firm around.
You can browse through their library of webinars (100's of them) where they present case studies, tests and results every month from random conversion optimization projects. You can learn a ton by watching their webinars.

That is my expertise so I never have had to hire one. The most basic thing to remember is
-
MAKE IT AS EASY AS POSSIBLE TO SEPARATE YOUR VISITOR FROM HIS MONEY OR INFORMATION
-
ASSUME IT IS THE FIRST TIME THE PERSON VIEWING YOUR WEBSITE HAS EVER USED A COMPUTER
Follow that to start with and you will double conversions. That was free the rest well...:)

I have had great luck with http://visualwebsiteoptimizer.com/ but they are more of an A/B testing company. What I found useful is their blog. I think you will find your answers in there.

Any PPC Companies out there who can work with small accounts
I have a story , 18 months ago we had our own PPC adwords account, we had been running at £3.20 CPA for quite some time and we were very happy. Sometimes CPA would go up , sometimes down, but not my very much. One unfortunate day google rang, and told us , that our CPA should ne £2.50 and that we needed expert advice that they couldn't actually give us, we needed an expert. To cut a long story short and after 5 very expert companies have messed with our account, we had varying results. One company left us with 2 leads per day at £10 a lead !!!! , one did better than that and setup a £3k adwords account using their expert advice, blew it all and said "times are tough" sorry !!! The last company was actually the best, great guy , but I think we are two small for him, we have varying results, one day we get 30 leads, the next we get 10 , one day its £3.50 CPA , next its £7.00 . But on the whole very happy with his initial work We just want a company that doesn't Lie to us , tells us straight , and can use their expertise to get us a CPA of £3.50 and help us get upto 50 leads a day, if not more. Thanks Hope that makes sense Nick

Any General feedback or Experience on Page Titles and Click Through Rates ?
Moz, I have managed to climb onto page one for a couple of keywords i am really happy with, Just looking for any feedback on page titles and different effects on CTR The page i am working with is product pages I tried a simple headline which was a branded product keyword, this way when the keyword matches the user search it will stand out as the the majority of the title is bold because of this match,, Example below <title>Jeffs<strong> Lollipops</strong></title> and my other option is to look at testing a more descriptive title to fit the limit <title>A selection of sweet Strawberry and Cherry<strong> Lollipops</strong> from Jeff<//Title></p> <p>has anyone looked into this and tested for results in CTR ? i can see there being a youmoz about it somewhere?</p> <p>Alot of people i assume will just say test test test, but any feedback on how other moz users tackle title tags for CTR would be great,</p> <p>Thanks</p> <p>James</p> <p> </p> <p> </p></title>

Brand Name: Conversion Rate Optimizing: Eponymous VS Generic
Good day all, We are entertaining the idea of changing the Domain Name & Brand Name for straplessfashion.com. While still in development, the website sells women undergarments. We did some survey research and it seems that women (age 18-40) really liked either "Demi's Dream" or "Almost Skin" as a good name. More specifically, Almost Skin seems to be the more popular choice over "Demi's Dream". I think "Almost Skin" catches attention quicker and may work best in PPC. However, when personalizing a brand name is considered, "Demi's Dream" might be the best choice. Would you please offer your advise on which of these two names might be the best for a new Domain and Brand name for the website mentioned above? Which would convert better? Thank you for your help. Carlos

How can I track the traffic source/keyword of form submissions?
I'm using Google Analytics on www.nhfinehomes.com and would like to track the source of leads submitted via form submissions. Ideally, I could track if the lead originated from organic search (and what keyword phrase), PPC, referral links, etc. Is this possible with Google Analytics and if so, can anyone point to some documentation on how to do this or better yet someone who can help me set this up? This site is running ASP.NET and uses JQuery so there is not a 'traditional' thank you page that I can reference. I'm not a programmer and do not pretend to be one! Thanks in advance. Link

Page Speed & SERPS
What impact does page speed have on rankings in the search engine? If I have a Site that is heavy with Pictures, Onsite videos and various scripts that would ultimately be of good use to a viewer but takes time to load. VS A Site that has pictures that are fully optimized for the web or eliminated to save on load time, Videos that are hosted on Sites like VIMEO or You Tube and eliminate scripts where possible and use css3. Note the site loads faster and is better for mobil but doesn't have the same feel of the first site but is useful to the user. Now let's say that both sites are virtual twins in terms of their link profile, age, content quality, location and citations. Will one rank better because of load time? It's the quest for creating the ultimate site for users while delivering it within the fastest time possible.

Adwords Conversion Optimiser
OK Mozers! Here's the situation (my parents went away on a weeks vacation...) • I am managing an online furniture retail website Infurn .com • Our budget is 500 euro per day and we need basically 20% cost per sale and im hovering at 30 - 35% • I recently was given the opportunity to participate in The Conversion Optimiser which allows you to set a desired CPA and Google works its magic geting you that target by adjusting your bids accordingly using historical campaign data. • Is this something I should use? Or should I continue to hone my ad groups, bids, products, landing pages, and ad copy until I reach my 15 - 20% CPA goal? Thanks!

The said pages are setup like the examples below: www.capitalalist.com/movida-guestlist/ www.capitalalist.com/chinawhite-guestlist/ www.capitalalist.com/mahiki-guestlist/ The conversion comes when the click 'join guestlist' and fill out the form.
