Reposting media releases
-
Hey Mozers -
We recently distributed a media release and it has been picked up by 20+ news outlets and counting.
My question: Should I publish this media release on my news/blog page? Or is it better to just bask in the incoming links? What are the benefits and drawback to each?
Thanks in advance!

Duplicate content was my original concern in posting this question.
Considering I haven't posted the news release yet, and 20+ others have, I am not going to post this release on my site. It is a time sensitive news release anyway, so no real need to tell my visitors now (with one day left in the event). I appreciate your input and I'll be sure to post news well ahead of distribution to news and media outlets.
Thanks again!

I agree. However, if it was a media release, I would prefer to release it on my website first and then the media outlets, otherwise it's just duplicate content to me.
And yes, I agree, if it's make sense for your users, by all means, you should post it in the press/media section of your website. Whatever makes most sense.

I have done it both ways I really have not seen that one way is better then the other. Just personal experience...
Think about whats best for users if its something they should read put up a news page. It wont hurt

Adding social media to SEO service
Hello, I have been struggling to handle and recommend social media work from my clients to help with their rankings and online presence. Often, it is ignored; however, as everyone knows only so much benefit can be gained through directory listings and stellar on-page optimization. I am wondering if someone could lend a hand on how they take over the social media tweeting/blogging/content etc for a third party so that it is still authentic both to their clients, and also seemingly to Google? Any insight would be helpful! Thanks in advance!!!! 🙂

Changing Social Media Profiles Name
Hi Mozzers, A client is thinking about changing their social media handles to shorten them to just their brand name as opposed to brand name plus the word 'apparel'. What is the implications of doing this and does the link change from facebook/brand-apparel or does the URL stay the same? Thanks Gareth

Looking to create a Press Release - Any decent sites out there?
Hey guys, I'm wondering whether you could point me in the right direction of a reputable PR site to use? I realise that many of these sites have been devalued over recent years but I wanted to produce something for a client after they struck-up a fairly notable connection with another company in their industry. Or should I just avoid PR sites altogether? Oh, and I'd prefer them to be free if possible 🙂

Is a press release a bad idea?
We've never sent out a press release before using one of the services, and thought it might finally be time. Then I saw that Google seems to be calling services like PR Newswire out. "Links with optimized anchor text in articles or press releases distributed on other sites." https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en So, is it worth it to spend a few hundred bucks to distribute a press release, or am I better off just publishing it on my blog for my blog writing service and promoting it all the regular ways?

Social Media Marketing Synergy
Hi all, Just a quick question. When creating social media profiles, should there be synergy between them in imagery. For example a fashion brand that has a lot of different styles. Would you have 2 completely different looks on say Twitter and Facebook? Or would you try to find a theme and stick with it? I have looked at other fashion brands and there is a mixed bag. Some have synergy, some don't. Is this a matter of opinion or is their a best practice? I don't think there is a right answer but I'd love some opinions / articles on it if poss! Thanks

Separate social media accounts for 1 biz w/ multiple locations?
I'm managing a hospital that is acquiring several locations. Are there advantages to having a Facebook and Twitter account for each location? Or is it SEO smart to use one account for discussing all properties? Thank you,

How to capitalize from a press release?
My largest client, a financial services outfit are about to launch a major new service. As part of this, their PR agency is about to issue a press release that will go to financial journalists and the whole stock exchange. Is there some way, as their SEO advisor, that I can increase the impact of this and help them to further benefit? Thanks in advance...
