Blog Influencer's tool
-
Hi Mozzers,
Can you help me with something please. I need a tool (preferably free or low cost) to find a list of influencers (blog or some types of publication) in a particular marketplace. Step 2 would be to see if we can then syndicate content but I need to find them first.
Obviously there Google blog finder and general searches, I've used other tools in the past but a long time ago - what are people using now and what's the best?
Thanks

Try Followerwonk.com, now part of the Moz empire. Even if you don't have a PRO account, you can use this tool to search Twitter bios.
So for example you can type "travel blogger" into the search field and it will show a list of people on Twitter who have words "travel" and "blogger" in their bios. These are sorted by followers, so you are likely to see the most influential first (there is also an option to sort by influence).
Click on "more options" and you can add filters. For example, you might want to find travel bloggers in the UK or the US.
A search that I like "Huffington Post travel" (replace it with your area of interest).
In my experience, most bloggers are active on Twitter, so this is a good de facto blogger search tool, and free.

Internet Business Promoter by Axandra is a great tool for finding bloggers. All you do is enter the keywords you're trying to rank for and it will scrape various search engines/websites that match the criteria you selected.
I think they even offer a free trial version of the program, I'd give this a try first. There's some other things you can do too, but it requires using multiple programs.
I, personally, find this to be a great link-building tool/resource for finding 'pillars of industry'.

Content: Best Blogs Article
Hello, For an Ecommerce site, I think a good way to get known is to write a "Best X Blogs" article, where X is a topic in your industry, and then letting the people you link to know about the article. I got the idea from a Mozinar. My question is, how close does the X from above have to be in your niche? For example, if your product is running shoes can you write a "best athlete blogs" article? I'm worried about them reading the article, then leaving. In some smaller niches the topics closest to the product don't have much in the way of blogs out there. So how close to your niche does the Best X Blogs topic have to be?

Blog Benefits
I read a very interesting answer by Andy Solo to a previous question in which he replied: "Use your blog to create some Tips & How-To's, optimize those blog entries for the long tail keywords and soon enough your blog will be the gateway into your website. Learn how to target longl-tail keyword searches and how to analyze keyword competition to find the right niche blog posts to create". With my own company site, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk which has a long-standing blog attached, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog I always felt that the blog content greatly aided our top positions in Google.co.uk. However, over the last 12 months we have slipped right down page one and I wondered if the blog is still helping our site or if the emphasis/value has switched and Google is looking at a lot of other factors where we score badly? Promoting external blogs on our own
From time to time we're promoting blog posts written by our employees on their external blogs (separate domains) to our official company blog. This happens when the content is valuable for our visitors and it's worth to be shared. The post is copied in its entirety and we add the sentence This post was originally published on <external blog="" post="" link="">at the top. Will this be considered duplicate content? Should we add anything else to the republished blog post? Thanks!</external>
