Google+ Vanity Urls: Brand vs Keyword
-
We have recently been assigned a Google+ vanity URL for our Google page.
By default, Google has assigned to us our top performing non-branded keyword. (Probably roughly twice the highly targeted search volume of our brand)
My question is:
Should I go with my BRAND NAME as my Google+ vanity url, or should I go with my TOP KEYWORD as my Google+ vanity url?
-
There are clearly benefits to both.
Brand -
- Trust.
- No confusion as to who owns the page.
- Further Brand recognition
Keyword -
- Could be easier to remember
- Could help your rankings.
- Could get direct traffic all by itself.
- Could generate brand awareness
If I were Nike, then I'd go with my brand name over 'shoes'. But as an unknown pest control guy, I'd take 'pestcontrol'
-
People will more likely get involved (circle and comment) on a brand vs on a g+ account that is made for SEO.
The advantages on the SEO side will be higher with more people getting involved vs a keyword optimized vanity URL.
Just my opinion.

I have actually found using your BRANDNAME+KEYWORDS can give you the best of both worlds, just don't overdo it. If it's too long, stick with just BRANDNAME+MAIN/ROOTKEYWORD so if you are a New England web design company for example and your company is named "ACTUS", you could do https://plus.google.com/actuswebdesign - for example.

+1 for Brand Name as Vanity URL.

Changing domain name, witch is better - brand name.com vs keyword + brand name.com?
Hi, I just made one decision and now I'm bit worried, if I did right one. I hope that you can give me feedback and advice regarding it. I'm in hookah market, so I do not have any possibilities to buy adds, so SEO is really-really important to us. I know a lot of things what has to be done to perform better, but currently I have just few really important questions. In international market the main keyword is "hookah" and everything related to that. We are small company and our brand is not that well known and do not have high volume traffic on website. Hookah in front of that we tough will give better understanding to audience about what is the page. Which domain name is better for SEO and also branding purposes? Currently we were using the first one without keyword, no we switched to the second one (just about week ago). https://hekkpipe.com https://hookahhekkpipe.com Regarding it, some really important questions: Would the longer version of domain helps us better rank with important keywords to us or not? When we will write good content, which domain is more likely shared? I'm bit afraid that first one and that we made a mistake changing the domain name. When the 1st one, then how big difference does it potentially make? Thank you

What is the perfect strategy for a Brand that manufactures the product?
Hello Moz Community, I'm currently associated with one of the brands. It's a nutrition and supplement brand that manufacture supplements. Now, they are running an e-commerce website. Problem: It should be product based website, not an e-commerce website (Like Design, Look and Feel of it.) The problem with SEO: What do you thing like which will work better.

Negative Keywords for SEO
Hi Mozzers, I have a client that has a totally legit retail business and they are getting lots of traffic organically that is adult in nature and totally off subject. The reason for this is their domain name contains keywords which while work well for their brand, when reordered and couple with a another keyword (such as picture or image) they get traffic for searches that have nothing to do with them and are pretty awful in nature. If this was Adwords I'd add a negative in of course but how can I stop bad traffic coming to the site organically? Any ideas? Cheers B 🙂

.org EMD - worth it or should we go with a lesser keyworded .com
Hello, A client of mine really wants to go with a 3 keyword EMD .org kw1kw2kw3.org The other option is to buy a non EMD .com with 2 of the keywords in it. I am leaning towards the .com, I don't think .org's are very professional, and EMDs seem to be going out of style, but please give your honest opinion now and what will happen in the coming years. Thanks

Example:The site selling ''Dubai Apartments'' ''Dubai Vacation Rentals'' ''Dubai Holiday Apartments'' and ''Dubai Accommodation'' and would like to rank the index page for ''Dubai City Apartments'' and ''Dubai Accommodation'' and the category page /apartments/ for ''Dubai Apartments'' Is this ok ? because I do not want to lose the rank for the index page because it's already higher for ''Dubai City Apartments'' and ''Dubai Apartments'' I also have use this title tag on the home page: Dubai City Apartments | Dubai Accommodation | sitename brand and than i have category page such: /apartments/ title Dubai Apartments | Dubai Apartment Rentals | brandname /vacation-rentals/ title Dubai Vacation Rentals | Holiday Rentals Dubai | brandname /holiday-apartments/ Dubai Holiday Apartments | Dubai Vacation Apartments | brandname P.S. How to troubleshoot google authorship?
Before anyone makes the suggestion, I have already read many of the articles online how to create authorship. I believe I have gone through every step correctly. Google plus is properly connected to my blog, name is same on blog as it is in google plus profile. It even appears that the rich snippets tool is reading my mark up appropriately. It's been about a month and I'm not seeing my image with my blog posts. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to trouble shoot this? My image shows for my google plus page, just not my blog posts. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks. Regards, Dino
