How do you determine whether to pursue keywords suggested by Google Instant?

I have heard that a good source of keyword suggestions is looking at what pops up as suggestions when you start typing into Google.
My question is how do you know if it is worth your time to create content around those suggestions? If you enter these suggestions into Google's Keyword Tool, often there is no data on search volume.

I 100% agree! My best resources for keywords are on site search (particularly those producing zero results) and combing through my Google Analhytics organic search terms to see what produces conversion/revenue [I'm an e-commerce gal].
For brand new sites, though, I would recommend leaving all avenues of keyword research open and doing as we both suggested and know, know, know your customers.

If you know your industry or topic niche very well then you probably have a good idea of what people need to know, want to know, and are asking about.
Those are generally the best topics for search volume. But.... the best topics for attracting links likes and mentions are what people need to know but don't know that they need to know and are not asking about. Now, if that topic is something that they will not understand then that should be place on your back burner until people are ready for it.
My experience is that keywords in search suggestions and KEI lists are not the best things to chase.

When it comes to the keywords suggested by Google, I trust my gut, what I know about our customers and our products and weed through them accordingly. I tend to use them as inspiration for content, and then produce that content in conjunction with other relevant keywords. Sometimes the auto-suggested keywords provide interesting insight, but aren't relevant to the type of page I'm working on. For example, a search suggestion that is "Bran Name A versus Brand Name B" may not be appropriate for my e-commerce site if I am a reseller for both brands, unless I produce some kind of comparison chart, or something that's fairly unbiased. A blog post, on the other hand, could really promote one brand over another and explain why.
I think how and where these suggestions are used really depends on the term and the contect in which it will be used.

Optimizing for close keyword variants
I am planning my seo project using Moz tools. I am finding keywords that are close to each other. What is the best way to optimize? If I made a page for each of the close words, it would pretty much be duplicate content. Is it best to go ahead and make a page for each and try to make content a bit different? How different does it have to be? Or, would i try to use the different versions of the keyword on one good page. Thank you!

Where to use which keywords...
After doing keyword research and coming up with a list of keywords/phrases that I'd like to optimise a specific page for (an additional page to an existing website), I get confused about WHERE to use which keywords. For example, choosing between two keywords like home insurance and specialist home insurance. Let's say home insurance is more searched than the other, and but is more difficult to rank for, and specialist home insurance is less searched but easier to rank for. Firstly, which one should I use as my "main keyword" and secondly, what benefit does the other keyword(s) then have on the rest of the page, and were do I use them? I hope this makes sense. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Using city location in keywords?
Hi all, new to SEO MOZ and SEO in general. I'm trying to do some keyword research to choose keywords and keyphrases for on page SEO as well as an Adwords campaign for a real estate agency that focuses on luxury high rise condos and homes in the Dallas area. My question is, when choosing keywords do you need to include your location in the key phrase? For instance luxury real estate or dallas luxury real estate? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Keyword selection and search counts
I am a new pro member and have noticed that a lot of my keywords are very similar. i.e. "piano movers Atlanta" vs. "Atlanta piano movers" vs. "piano movers in Atlanta" Is there an accurate way to see search counts for each of these terms do determine which one I should target? Discrepancies between SEOMOZ's Google api exact match search volume results and google's keyword tool, why?
I'm finding major discrepancies between SEOMOZ's google api exact match search volumes and Google's own keyword tool, why? For example, 'bridge loans' gets 1300 searchs according to Google's keyword tool, but SEOMOZ says it only gets 210 (both on exact match). So which one do I believe? I know one is the average over 12 months and the other is for last month alone but still that's a huge difference.
