How can I influence my colleagues to write blog articles for my company?
-
Hi,
I am trying to get my colleagues work in different department to write an article about their expertise area. They are not aware that what type of benefits they would get if they become an online author. I am trying to make a list of reason why they should participate. I was wondering anyone else would also make any recommendation what i should tell them.
So far, my points are:
- Wider your online presence beyond Facebook and LinkedIn
- Go extra mile and share your thoughts
- **Show your expertise **
- Reach nationwide readers
Thanks!
-
One additional point you could make to attract participants is that writing about their area of expertise can actually make them more of an expert.
Only when we write do we really solidify our thoughts and opinions. By contributing articles, you not only "show your expertise," you grow your expertise.
Hope this helps!

If any of them are in Customer Service or deal with Clients and their questions, get them talking about those things that are a constant... do their new clients always bring up the same questions, the same concerns, etc. to the point where it feels like they're reading a script when they answer. Get them to realize that by writing about these common questions and concerns from their standpoint as an expert they can help to alleviate common problems in their field/industry... thus making their lives easier.

I agree. When I need a lift for my own content creation, and perhaps to recruit others to write, I head over to the department in question, to take some time to brainstorm. Most times, my coworkers are happy to add some ideas. More often than not, I can get someone to write something up for me. These brainstorming sessions also help me get out of my content rut.

Thanks Egol,
I would like to use their real name on our blog so they need to understand that this is important for their online presence as well as companies present.
Before we go into selecting topics, i need to give them points why they should be doing this for their company. It's not an order from above , it is voluntary thing and no one really jumps when we ask for it. I need to persuade them to go for it.

Have a brainstorming session with them.
If you get them talking about the things that they can write about - the important messages, tips and ideas that need to be communicated, then they will know some of the topics and the mutual support their is for them.
You might even outline these potential articles on a whiteboard with major topics and subtopics, even quotes if you have them.
Now you have gathered ideas, mapped them out, should be a lot easier to write. Then ask who will write this one, who will write that one. You write the one that nobody else wants.
Lubricate with pizza and beer.

I'd appreciate if this post is not twitted Thanks

The one site we really also want to start working with is Google Finance - but there is no way as far as i can see of getting in touch with them. Our content is the best in our sector and every news site we pitch we almost always start a relationship with - i just need an in. Does anyone know who to contact or how to get in touch with them? Thanks for any advice. James0 -
I allow authority sites to republish my blog articles, which then outrank me
Hey everyone. This is my first question here, I apologize if it has been covered before. I have a health and nutrition blog [authority nutrition] that has been up since December 1st, 2012. I've managed to write quite a few viral articles which have given me a bunch of natural links and a domain authority of 49, which I think is pretty great for such a new site. Haven't done any link building and everything is 100% white hat. Getting good rankings and good traffic already, so I can't complain. My only (1st world) problem is that sometimes major authority sites (DA of 70-95) republish my content. I always say yes if they ask me first, but some of them just republish without even asking. My articles are always indexed on my blog before they get republished, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. These sites always clearly link to the original URL, but they often tend to outrank me for the keywords I was targeting in the articles. They tend to rank in the top 5, but my original article is nowhere to be found. I plan on continuing to allow these sites to republish as I get powerful links and good traffic from them, but it's a bit frustrating that I don't seem to get the credit as the original source. I've already set up Google Authorship, but it doesn't seem to help. Is there anything I can do to make sure Google recognizes my article as the original and chooses to rank my site instead of the authority site that simply republished my article?

Does using Articlebase articles on your site push your rank down?
Hello All, I launched a website (www.hrpayrollsystems.net) last year. I'm very new to the SEO world so I'm still seeing what works and what doesn't. We recently republished some articles from articlebase.com that I think may have hurt us in SEO. Does Google see our site as having duplicate content and then penalize us? Our top keyword isn't even ranking anymore when I put it in the sites that tell you where you show up. Help!

Best place for a blog blog.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/blog
We have used blogs on a good number of client sites and always got good results from having them. However do you feel its best to have a blog as a subdomain or included in the site ie blog.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/blog

Can I delete an old blog post and be ok?
I wrote some blog posts on my wordpress blog a few years ago that I no longer want on my site. I have them "no index" and "no follow" but everytime I run a report on my site they still seem to pop up. If I just delete the posts will it result in a broken link for my site? Or is there another way I can go about it? Thanks guys

Can you use creative commons non-commercial images on a company blog?
Does anyone know if it is okay to use creative commons images on your company blog if they are under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic license. Technically you are using it on a commercial site, but you are not directly making money from the image or selling it.
