Google Shopping tracking as organic traffic - help!
-
Hey guys,
I have an eCommerce client who sometimes runs Google PLA and Google Shopping campaigns. However, we don't run his AdWords for him, just do his SEO.
At the moment, the Shopping campaigns track as organic traffic within Analytics. And I can't see any way to change this! It's so infuriating.
How do I change this?
Thanks!

Thanks for these two articles

Just tell them to use the Analytics URL builder for all the PLA ads that aren't tracking right, the click-through URL's can be generated with the tool below.

Good luck.

I've already looked at this article and the advice is kind of redundant because it was written back in 2011 when the filter system was different.
I've tried creating a different filter, but nothing seems to work.
What should I ask my client to change within his AdWords account to stop the campaigns from doing this? Has he tagged them incorrectly, if at all? How would I find this out?
Thanks.

Got you.
In the case of Google Shopping listing clicks, these will show up as Organic and not cpc. However, these will not track separate from your normal organic traffic. To be able to know how they report you will have to create a filter.
You can find the instructions for implementation here- http://moz.com/ugc/tracking-google-shopping-traffic-with-google-analytics-14244
Don't forget to read the comments by the author of this post as there is some updated filter information in an update posted to the comments.
For more information you can read this discussion- https://www.en.adwords-community.com/t5/Tracking-Reporting/Google-shopping-results-in-google-analytics/td-p/109822
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Thanks for responding. It's definitely connected, but normal paid advertising is tracking as normal; it's the Google shopping PLA campaigns that are tracking as organic. What do I need to tell my client to change in his AdWords account to help alleviate this issue?
Thanks!

Yea, by default auto-tagging is turned off. Forward this URL to the team running the adwords and tell them it's important that they turn auto-tagging on: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3095550?hl=en
Even if you don't connect your Adwords and GA accounts, if the company running your clients adwords can simply turn auto tagging on, you'll be able to see PLA and Adwords data as a different channel from within the Acquisition tab in Analytics at least.

Hi There!
It looks like they haven't linked Google analytics account with adwords. In this case, you can't see paid traffic in Google Analytics.
Also, make sure that they have auto tagging enabled in their Adwords account.
Hope this helps!

Are you certain the client's Adwords account is connected to the Google Analytics account? Make sure everything from the Google Merchant Center to Adwords to GA is connected properly. Then GA should report any Adwords campaigns correctly.

A huge spike in traffic, mainely from social and organic
Hi there, We see this huge spike in traffic to our home page for almost a week now. When I check the source I see a crazy spike in Facebook traffic (25,630% change!!), Twitter and organic. The spike in traffic is to our home page alone. The bounce rate is much higher than avg. and time on page is shorter. Also, no. of new visitors to the site is higher than average. The traffic is obviously low quality and is hurting our site's statistics. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Many thanks in advance, Gal

Re-classifying a Traffic Source in Google Analytics
Hey All, I think it's inside of the Admin section of Google Analytics, right now I have a traffic source from the domain of indeed.ca that is being classified as Organic traffic when it should be classified as referring traffic, how can I tell Google Analytics that all traffic from this source should be classified as referral traffic and not organic traffic? Furthermore, after I make this change, will Google Analytics re-classify my past data so I can do a proper analysis? I can't remember how to do this and any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

How to track link building? What metrics?
I'm an SEO newbie (my main roles are front-end designer and content manager).
Reporting & Analytics | | RSGregC
I've been managing our company's effort to generate links. In the past, trying to develop relationships has gone nowhere. As a result, we're currently mostly creating good content ourselves and posting it on Web2.0 sites (weebly, etc.) and linking back to our site, and then using UAW (unique article wizard) to create a second tier of links to those links. We've been doing this for a while, and our traffic from SEO is going up - but we don't really know how to track our work. Can you please
a) give your opinion about our approach, and
b) tell me which metrics we should be using, and which tools for these metrics? Thank you so much

What to get from google Webmaster tools?
Hi everyone, I've been doing optimization for our websites and tracking the results regularly but don't really know what the results actually mean. I heard that I need to check the traffic and organic results from Google analytics and Google webmaster tools. Everybody says something and not sure what to do? Is there anyone clarify the SEO process for me - when to do what and why in simplest way? Thanks in advance,

Help with Analytics
Afternoon all - I hope someome might be able to help me getting some data out of Google Analytics. I want to try pull a report which will show me both what the last page before a goal completion was and the country that generated the click. Is that possible at all? When I go to look at goals, I can only pull data for the last page before the goal click ... and when I look at my goals in the Pages>Content menu, I can only view country. So is there any way of pulling the two set of data together at all? Any thoughts would be really appreciated. Thanks very much, Simon

Any updates regarding 'not provided' organic keyword referrals in Google Analytics?
I know that the encrypted searches done by people logged into their Google accounts is causing the error, is there any workaround or any update from Google as to IF they will give us our keyword data back? I'm currently losing data on about 20% of my daily searches . . .
