keywords are not ranking as per the expectation and need site review too
-
Hello,
Recently We have a taken a project " http://customerconnect-services.com/ " and are responsible for the Digital Marketing for the website. FYI, we have been following the best On-Page SEO practices ever since we took the project: Performing Keyword Research, Finalizing the Keywords,Using those in the Page-Title, Meta-Descriptions, Heading Tags and of course in the Content as per MOZ suggestions & SEO standards. But, we are unable to rank in first page; all the considered keywords have a ranking of 51+ which is a serious matter of concern for us. We have also checked whether the Domain / URL has been blacklisted, but it's not (Not even by Google).
We are therefore unable to figure out what is going wrong even after following so many best practices to get the keywords a good ranking (1st & 2nd page of SERPs). Therefore I would like to request you to provide your expert opinions in this regard by checking what is it that we are not getting right.
The website url is http://customerconnect-services.com/. As this is a high-priority issue for us & the client is a prestigious one of course, please help.
Looking forward to hearing from you at the earliest.
Thanks & Regards,
Harini -
I second this! Thanks for all the extra help you've been giving folks in the forum lately, @Hurf.

Thanks, EGOL, that's most kind.

Nice work, Hurf.
That was a great and very generous review. Among the highest quality given at Moz Q&A.

The site is indexing okay. A Google search using " site:http://customerconnect-services.com " will give you a rough approximation of what has been indexed for this site (Google Search console will provide more accurate data, however).
But Indexing isn't your issue. In short, this site isn't ready and, I'm afraid to say, it doesn't really deserve to rank well. (That doesn't mean it can't rank well, but it needs work - lots and lots of work.)
Looking through the currently indexed pages, you will see that a few Lorem Ipsum (pages with dummy content) have been indexed (these now 404 - http://customerconnect-services.com/?p=12982 for example), this is our first indication that the site is/was recently under development.
Further, there are other signals that this site isn't yet compete: http://customerconnect-services.com/our-offerings/ - the second slider on this vaguely titled page shows a slider "CONDO Makes selling and buying easier...." This is in no way relevant and is likely a remnant from using a template site with pre-populated demo content.
While we are on this page, let's look at the Navigation label and URL - 'Our Offerings' /our-offerings - offerings of what to whom? This could not be vaguer! These elements need to be used to tell visitors explicitly what it is you do. 'App Development' /app-development or similar would much better. As it stands, the visitor is expected to click it to find out what the page might be - assuming that they're sufficiently motivated to do so. Take a look at Steve Krug's 'Don't Make Me Think' then buy every client a copy. (http://www.uxbooth.com/articles/10-usability-lessons-from-steve-krugs-dont-make-me-think/)
Look at those who are ranking well for this phrase and compare your client's page against it Here's an example (These are number one in the UK for the term 'mobile app development':
https://www.mobilesmith.com/app-development/ - not an exact match for the service your client offers (though I'm still not sure what that is) but it's close enough to demonstrate the gap between where you/your client is and where they want to be. On-page grader gives your client's 'our offerings' page a generous C for 'mobile app development' from a user's perspective, it's a F.
Then, below the slider we get:
GET FEATURED ON GOOGLE AND APPLE STORE. ENHANCE CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT USING ANDROID AND IOS APPS
Stop. What does that actually mean? This is just vague filler - it means nothing. and you're still not telling me what you do!
The list goes on (and on), I'm afraid. And while I'm being brutally honest, the domain name is AWFUL - it is as vague as the rest of the content, it also entirely unmemorable; not the end of the world if your content and user experience is up to scratch but it isn't. (Granted, as the SEO for this client, this is likely to be out of your remit.)
I don't think I would be helping you if I were to be delicate about this, so forgive me: The site looks like a template site with some content hastily thrown into it. In essence, your client has a LOT of work to do before they can expect to see results.
The technical SEO aspects/mechanics of the site (that you reference in your question) are a secondary concern. Content and UX are your primary concern - without getting those right, you're never going to succeed. Google is better than it's ever been at sniffing out weak content, so don't expect to circumvent this with a few keywords in your content and a handful of backlinks.
Good SEO is hard enough when you're working with a well-designed and well-established site; with a half-done website, that has been (or appears to have been) hastily assembled, it's impossible.
Start (and finish) with the user in mind, give the user what they want (Google is not your user), answer their questions, deliver your message clearly and make it easy for them to engage with you and then build upon that.
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but no-one wins until these issues are tackled head-on.
As an aside, I'd run a Fetch as Google from Google Search Console to speed up re-indexing. (https://searchenginewatch.com/sew/how-to/2326164/index-your-content-faster-with-the-fetch-as-google-tool)
Good luck!

Are you ranking for branded search ( the name of the company) at all? I know, they chose such an over-used name, it makes your marketing/seo job harder.
Just based off a quick look...you have a DA of 1...so, you need a lot more backlinks to rank.
I am actually wondering if the site is even being indexed by Google, since i can't find it all all...even when searching the homepage address.
my quick take,
Matt

I am not sure if there are issues with onpage dup content or with the way wordpress is behaving but there is no reason based upon the sites back link profile that the site shouldn't be ranking well. Terrible branded ranking
I am at lost. My website has been live for about 3 months. Typing my name or my direct page title into google puts me on page 15. My site is indexed by google, a site:mywebsitename search - produces 202 results. My on page SEO isn't amazing buy it isn't terrible either. The website has 35+, 500 words+ reviews and a few incoming links from some occasional link building. 0 duplicate content. The website is animexcess.com

My thoughts on what might be causing the problem, i am hoping that someone with a bit more SEO knowledge than myself can point me in the right direction. During development, i had duplicate content up on the site as placeholder while i wrote my own - All duplicate content has been removed for about 3 months now, but can this still be affecting me ranking? and to this extent? The entire website is in a sub-directory with 301 redirects - can this be affecting my ranking to this extent? The domain had a prior owner. Waybackmachine tells me that the domain had a page up in 2007. I bought it in 2010. If the prior owner built up a bad rep on this domain can is still be the cause for poor ranking 6 years later? I cannot file a reconsideration request since there are no manual actions taken against my site in WMT, any way around this? Its only been three months. I know 3 months isn't a very long time in the google ranking world but my my 2 week old, built in 1 week, secondary website is ranking on page 1 for some pretty solid terms, so i don't think 3 months is to short a time to expect a bit of results. My website is being crawled daily.
Any advice on how to move forward with fixing my website ranking will be much obliged. Thank you.0 -
How to create site map for large site (ecommerce type) that has 1000's if not 100,000 of pages.
I know this is kind of a newbie question but I am having an amazing amount of trouble creating a sitemap for our site Bestride.com. We just did a complete redesign (look and feel, functionality, the works) and now I am trying to create a site map. Most of the generators I have used "break" after reaching some number of pages. I am at a loss as to how to create the sitemap. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Trying to Optimize my site for one keyword any advice please
Hi, we are trying to optimize our site www.in2town.co.uk for the keyword of lifestyle magazine. We are having trouble with this. We were last year number one in google for the keyword and then the end of last year we went to position four and now we are on the bottom of the second page and we are not sure what is happening. here is the text view of the site http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:5U281SBmDlUJ:www.in2town.co.uk/&hl=en&client=firefox-a&gl=uk&strip=1 I am just wondering if we need to do a better description of the lifestyle magazine at the top as i know it says you should have your keyword within the first 100 words Any help on trying to solve this problem and get the page back where it belongs will be great. I know we have a lot of text on the page so google maybe finding it hard to find out what keywords are what but the only keyword we are interested in this page is lifestyle magazine, in the near future we would be looking at including lifestyle news many thanks

Ranking Multi-Language Site
Recently we updated our website to a new version. Our website has a structure in which the English page is our main page with about 50 subpages. All these pages are translated in 5 different languages. The different languages are divided into folders. For example www.ourdomain.com/de containts all german pages. The pages with products would be for example: www.ourdomain.com/products for english and www.ourdomain.com/de/produkte for the german page. On our previous website this used to be simililar. After the website update the SEOMoz crawls are showning duplicated page content/title errors for the pages saying that the pages in other languages have the same content/title as the basis English webpage. Any idea how I can solve these errors?

Rank tracker and Rankings report differs
Hi all Is this normal? I have set up a campaign for a site. Tracking a variety of keywords. For one of them, which is a quite important keyword I've been working on I've moved down one step in my rankings report. This is first of all weird because my on page optimization went from grade c to a, and even weirder beacuse if I run Rank Tracker tool on the keyword and the URL I see that I've moved up 6 steps, to 15 in Google. Kinda makes it hard to grasp if I'm on the right path or not! (I've checked and they are both results on google.dk, same URL and same keyword - exact)

Mobile site ranking in desktop searches
A robots.txt file is properly implemented on the mobile site to block Googlebot from crawling, yet, when running a site: query for the site in google, it still returns over 104,000 pages from the mobile site in the index. Why could this be happening?
