  • schema medical industry

Has anyone seen a hospital system or medical clinic properly employ schema markup to their sites? This seems like very new territory, and we want to do it right by our client. Are there any best practices I need to look out for?

  • Looking for some advice on an area that I can't seem to find much research about online. Since starting our website, it's always been hosted in the UK and targeting UK visitors. That means we always had the date/time format of the website as DD.MM.YY for example. We've now changed business focus and are targeting US visitors. We recently moved the site over to US hosting, and our web developers have instructed that we change to US date/time format (MM.DD.YY). My question is, are there any implications on doing this from an SEO perspective? Obviously, all our historic blog posts will need to have their date updated from, for example, 9 July to July 9. Does this make any difference at all? Anyone got any insights as to what best practice with this is? Cheers.

  • Hello there, I've been using Moz Pro for a year now, and encountered I've encountered small issues here and there (like some features not working currently, but they start working after a few hours tops) but now I have a bigger issue. Page Optimization feature stopped working and it's dead for five days now. Even my older research is gone. (check the images) Anyone else having this problem, or is it just me? It says that the crawler is blocked or the page isn't working, and when I check the pages in other platforms with crawlers it all goes smooth. All of the pages are working, and all of the crawlers (tested even in Google console) are doing fine. I even had the Moz crawler on 04.07.2019 as the standard week crawl and I got the results. Everything else is working just fine, I have a problem with the Page Optimization feature only. Thanks in advance, Ivan Ga4LKkQ

  • Whats peoples opinions about putting Call To Cations CTAs in Meta Descriptions, and does this ever occur a Google penalty, as it can sometimes look a bit clickbait. For example I am looking at a site which currently has this meta description Meta Description: For more information on our sustainable, natural office furniture, click here to get in contact. Is this kind of description ranking unfriendly, Ive seen them used a lot but IM not a big fan of this myself. Any thoughts?

  • Hi everyone, Several weeks ago I noticed that each Wednesday my site's Average Position in Search Console dipped significantly. Immediately I identified that this was the day my colleague published and back-linked a blog post, and so  we spent the next few weeks testing and monitoring everything we did. We discovered that it was ONLY when we created a Google My Business post that the Average Position dipped, and on the 1st July we tested it one more time. The results were the same (please see attached image). I am 100% confident that Google My Business is the cause of the issue, but can't identify why. The image I upload belongs to me, the text isn't spammy or stuffed with keywords, the Learn More links to my own website, and I never receive any warnings from Google about the content. I would love to hear the community's thoughts on this and how I can stop the issue from continuing. I should note, that my Google My Business insights are generally positive i.e. no dips in search results etc. My URL is https://www.photographybymatthewjames.com/ Thanks in advance Matthew C0000OTrpfmNWx8g

Is it a problem with Moz or the website?

  • A bit complicated of a situation, and one I have never experienced before.  Ill do my best to explain: To start: I operate 10+ GMB listings for a brand with multiple locations. The listings in question are our main brand account, representing our headquarters and largest location, and a smaller sub-brand that represents a unique portion of our business at the same physical location with its own staff, hours, entrance, etc. Both are completely legitimate and have been for years, despite sharing the same physical address (think of a retail store inside a resort). About 2 months ago i opened GMB and the system had automatically merged the 2 listings. They were flagged as duplicated due to the address issue. Ok, fine, no problem. After several chats and a call with GMB verifying they were unique businesses and confirming the issue they agreed to un-merge the listings. Once un-merged, we noticed a strange issue. The organic relevance in both maps and knowledge panel had been transferred from our main brand listing to the sub-brand. When querying anything that would trigger our maps listing or the knowledge panel the sub-brands account was now magically showing, including its landing page, phone number, etc. After countless chats / emails / calls with GMB i finally reached someone who understood the issue. This was escalated to GMBs technical team and they returned with the answer that they had never seen this before. Great. More importantly, they returned with the answer they could not correct the problem OR force the 2 listings back together. At this point, we were receiving a very large call volume to the sub-business that was meant for our main brand. After many back and forth's with Google's team, the recommended solution outside of deal with it, was to essentially change the information on the sub-brand to match the main brand page. The hope being the system would automatically merge them again. A bit crazy, but we didnt have much of a choice. That was 2 months ago. Our sub-brand page, now essentially hi-jacked to look like our main brand, receives close to 200k views a month. Our old main brand page still receives around 30 - 50k month. Clearly this is not ideal. Any recommendations on a solution? Happy to completely lose the sub-brand account, but its ranking and relevance has now become hugely important. My preference would be to merge the 2, but I am unsure if that will negatively impact the ranking. Our original brand account has thousands of reviews, is linked to our YouTube, etc. We would need to remove the sub-brand account that has now taken priority in search and request GMB merge it into the old account.

  • When I search on Google site:alexanders.co.nz still showing over 900 results. There are over 600 inexisting pages and the 404/410 errrors aren't not working. The only way that I can think to do that is doing manually on search console using the "Removing URLs" tool but is going to take ages. Any idea how I can take down all those zombie pages from the search results?

  • We are a electronic hardware manufacture with a fairly large catalog of products.  I dynamically built our site and we have over 705,000 unique products that we can offer.  With our php framework I was able to create sitemaps that hold every product unique url.  After doing all of that I submitted our data to Google. Then waited with a cocktail encouraged that we'd grow up the ranks of Google organically.  Well, that didn't happen. Besides several other problems (lack of overall unique content, appearance of duplicate content, no meta description, no unique page titles, poor use of heading tags and no rel canonical tags) how can I get a "do-over" with Google and my submitted sitemaps?  Can they be re-submitted?  Can they even be deleted?

  • I'd like to utilize AMP for faster loading for one of my clients. However, it is essential that this client have chat. My developer is having trouble incorporating chat with AMP, and he claims that it isn't possible to integrate the two. Can anyone advise me as to whether this is accurate? If it is true that AMP and chat aren't compatible, are there any solutions to this issue? I'd appreciate any leads on this. Thanks!

  • While Moz is an excellent resource, i get the impression that it is for community-based SEO questions that can serve as a knowledge database. I am looking for a forum or resource where I can contact other SEO workers to explore link exchange opportunities. For example, i want to reach out to those who do SEO for audio/visual, technology, and event-planning companies so i can offer them links in exchange for some recommended links to my site. Before anyone dogs on link trading as being spammy and not best practice, it would only be done in a useful, relevant, and non-spammy fashion with other high authority sites. Thanks! Ryan

  • For the last few years I've been gaining steady backlinks for my clients by producing online press releases for them (e.g. publishing results of a survey they commissioned, or their expert opinion on recent news, etc). The online coverage included a backlink naturally or by me just asking the publication nicely.  But recently I'm finding that publications are asking for a fee to publish the article (with a link) or they will publish the article for free, but will add a link for a fee.  Note: these publications aren't link-building-sites, they're good DA sites such as  https://www.femalefirst.co.uk/ and  https://www.moneymagpie.com/  (MOZ DAs of 80 and 56 respectively). The fees are around $200 each. The clients can afford to pay for this type of coverage, but is there a risk in these cases with Google?

  • Hey everyone! I run a comparison/affiliate site for men's clothing. On the side of that, I have a Squarespace site for inspiration, articles and outfit pictures. I've tried to optimize site speed for the Squarespace site without much success. I've run all pictures trough JPEGmini to decrease file size but it doesn't seem to be enough. Below I attached the result I got when I run one of the pages trough Lighthouse and GTmetrix. Do you have recommendations of what I can do to improve the results? Is it a good idea to use next-gen formats for pictures as Google suggests as an example? Kind regards,

  • When building backlinks myself I have been conscious to avoid going over the 30 spam score as recommended on Moz somewhere. But one of the sites I have recently started working on: https://www.osborneplanning.uk/
has a number of very high spam score backlinks, 5 above 50. Some are follow some nofollow.
I am wondering if its a good idea to disavow them, or should I just leave them as they are, I have read some suggestions that Google will just ignore the majority of spammy backlinks, and its better just to keep them, I dont want to start deleting links if they don't cause any problems.

  • Hi mozzers, Because our blog is located on blog.example.com on powered by Wordpress and currently can't migrate it to the main domain, unfortunately. Since we would like to grow our main's domain organic traffic and would like to test an option that could help us leverage the traffic of the top blog posts content. There is a Wordpress API that would allow us to get 100-200 words(snippet of the blog post) from the blog posts into the main domain that would provide a "Read more link" linking back to the blog.
Is this even a good idea assuming we would make sure content is not identical?

  • Hi Neighbors, Franchise website design and development can be difficult, there’s no doubt about it. I had to find the right balance between a unique and unified brand identity, and a localized experience that accurately reflects the individual franchisees and their efforts. Due to the many benefits, I have structured the to read _domain.com/location _ domain.com = TLD /location = subfolder (location page) I have also built a customized CMS (e.g. Drupal) and have given each location access to manage their location page (subfolder). To accommodate local SEO optimization, franchisees have complete control in terms of optimizing  their location page (subfolder). Title tags, meta description, Alt tags, etc... Will any local optimization performed in the subfolder (location page) be stiffened because it was not done in the TLD but in the subfolder ?

  • Search Console is giving this issue for near 100 pages of my website. I have checked the Yoast plugin settings. We haven't used any meta robots tag for these pages, neither have these pages been disallowed in robots.txt. Previosuly this issue was for some 20+ pages. I tried to reindex them by submitting the urls again. Now the count has risen to 100+. There is also this "Submitted URL blocked by robots.txt" issue for pages which are NOT disallowed in robots.txt. Can anyone please suggest me a solution here?

  • I'm having trouble getting my accessibility team to add alt text to our site's images for SEO benefits as they feel some of it would add additional noise for screen readers.  They proposed using ARIA-hidden attributes to hide the text but I'm wondering if will that be interpreted as a cloaking tactic to search engines?  Also, I'm wondering if it the alt text will carry the same weight if ARIA-hidden is used. Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm having trouble finding any research on the topic.

  • Hi, we have recently changed our brand name after 7 years and have changed our root domain to match (33shake.com since 2012, now 33 fuel.com) The site is the same (no migration to a new one) as there were no other business changes apart from the name/domain. 301 redirects are looking after all former 33shake.com links, which are now being redirected to their new 33fuel.com equivalents (slugs are the same in 99% of cases). My question is: We have a lot of backlinks for our old domain (33shake.com) on our own content via our YouTube channel (100+ videos) and also our podcast (64 episodes in, broadcast on 10 platforms). For maximum SEO benefit as we continue to restore domain authority, etc to 33fuel.com, are we best to leave these historical backlinks pointed at the old domain and let the redirects pick them up when people click? Or are we better off swapping all of these old historical backlinks so they point directly to the new domain? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this is quite a maze we are now picking our way through! Warren
