How to Calculate % improvement in Mozrank and Domain Authority
-
I understand the concept that mozrank and Domain Authority are measured on a logarithmic scale . http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/mozrank
I'm trying to determine the percentage improvement in the Logrithmic value. For example
Original Domain Authority 60
Original Mozrank 5
End Domain Authority 63
End Mozrank 6.
So 5% change in DA and 20% change in MozRank. How do we convert these numbers to the real logrithmic change?

He's giving you a nonsense number, because SEOMoz won't reveal the true scale, so use whatever logarithmic scale you want.
ie. an indeterminate amount

Super interesting question!
First, let me put out a disclaimer that metrics like Domain Authority are comparative metrics that change from index to index. This means that it's best to use these numbers to compare yourself to the competition, but not to your own previous metrics as the base calculations can change. DA measures relative strength - so it's completely possible to improve 10% by raw numbers, but if your competition improved 10% as well, your relative DA really didn't change. For this reason we caution against folks measuring DA over time, and instead using it as indicator of ranking potential in real time against other competitors.
With that out of the way, last time I checked, MozRank was calculated on an algorithmic base scale of around 8.5. (Sorry, I can't be more specific - but that's part of the secret sauce. Heck, I don't even know the exact numbers.
With this knowledge, you can use a typical base calculator to figure relative strength. For example, a Mozrank of 5 on an 8.5 log scale calculates to 44370.531 um... raw MozRank points. Using the same calculations we find a MozRank 6 equals 377149.516 raw points, or 8.5x the original.
You can do similar calculations to determine the logarithmic change of DA, but keep in mind the disclaimer above and remember that since we can't reveal the exact scale, your calculations will be estimations, at best.
Hope this helps!

Sorry can you elaborate?

Multiply the original MozRank by a buck two eighty.

New URL, new physical address, New Name. 30 point drop in Domain Authority. Yikes.
I have a client who is asking for SEO help after renaming their business, getting a new URL, and somehow having an address change (without moving to a new location...weird...I know). This has set them back big time in terms of their domain authority (they went from a 46 to a 15 in DA). The web developers they work with put a 302 redirect in place from their old URL (home page), which had 10,477 links from 52 root domains, to their new URL's home page. Open site explorer shows that they now have 5 links! We can improve some of the local search set backs from the name and address change with a citation audit and clean up, but the domain name change is a killer. So here's my question or questions, really: Do we need to manually rebuild links with partner websites? I know there is debate around the actual link juice passed along from a 302 vs a 301 redirect (despite what has been publicly stated by Google). Or is this just a waiting game while old links get recrawled?

Why has a .cleaning domain not been indexed on Google?
One of our clients domain names is http://companyname.cleaning I've done all of the on-page SEO, submitted a sitemap to Google and am currently monitoring the analytics and data on MozPro. The next scheduled update on domain authority is the 21st of July? We must have had this on since April, the website was most likely launched at the end of March. Is it normal to wait this long for a site to be indexed and the domain authority to rise?

Duplicate Content for Default Document Domains
I've noticed recently that within the Moz Crawl Report I keep seeing duplicate content for one of our pages that pulls from a default document. The pages are product pages, one ending in releases/ and the other ending in releases/index and are both identical pages. Normally in these situations I would prefer to make sure that every link is being sent to the releases/ page, however according to Moz, the releases/index page is actually ranking better and has a higher internal link count. Can someone advise me on the best way to deal with this situation? Hopefully I've explained myself well enough! Thanks Sam

How best to gain Followed Linking Root Domains?
Hi All, Sorry if this question has been asked before. I've had a look through the Q&A sections and I couldn't really see anyone who'd asked the question as direct as this? Basically, I'm using the SEOMoz competitive domain analysis to compare some of our domains and our competitors domains and see where we're falling down. At the minute, we seem to be only scoring around '31', whereas our two closest competitors as 32 and 33 on the overall score. This still seems pretty low to me (maybe it's not) so I'm assuming we can make some good headway. At the minute, the analysis shows that we're beating our competitors hands down with the number of links to our site, these are all relatively good quality and they haven't just been spammed out there to gain links. We are however struggling to get followed linking root domains. As I understand it, these are basically just links from domains not on the same IP that are followed? Since I've seen this, I've looked through the open site explorer and gone through all of our competitors sites to get backlinks from URL's linking to them. I've had fairly good success with this but they only seem to have gone up by 1 - 2 links. Does this only get updated once a month? In addition to this, does anyone have any tips on how to build up followed linking domains? Kind Regards
