Big BUPA Bounce rate
-
Good morning from ten degrees c mostly cloudy wetherby UK
Ive got a 70% bounce rate on this home page - http://www.goldsboroughestates.co.uk/Home.aspx
Whilst their is a telephone number on the home page it feels too high. Ive drilled down and identified the following:
1. Medium (NONE)Â is causing 80% bounce
2. No ppc ad are runningI get a futher explanation from the Google Gods:
•Auto-tagging is on but cost data is not applied (learn more)
•There is a redirect in the URL
•The gclid parameter is altered or dropped from the ad
•Auto and manual tagging are being used at the same time
•Manually tagged URLs are missing a valueMy feeling is eMails with links to the home page are causing such I high medium (none count)
Would be grateful if any SEO mozzer could offer there insights,
Thanks,
David

Without an in-depth look into your analytics the information you have provided leads me to believe the following is occurring since you specifically mention that you are not running any ppc ads. When Google Analytics is reporting on source/medium the value that is shown direct / none of course refers to any visit that has been tracking that they could not identify a referring domain that started the visit. There are numerous reasons as to why a referring domain can be lost for a visitor
1.Somebody really did type in the address or used a bookmark to get to your page
2.They clicked on a link in an email from a non web based email clients (typically Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.)
3.The link was in a document
4.The link originates at a secure (https:) page and your page is not secure (http)
5.Spiders and bots were working from a list of URLs from a previous crawl (this one mostly applies to server logs, rarely to JavaScript based tracking)
6.Spiders and bots may be programmed to suppress the referrer information (this one mostly applies to server logs, rarely to JavaScript based tracking)
7.The visitor is using IE and the link to your site was in Javascript. Javascript links to your site include those that open your site in a new browser window, or any kind of javascript redirect. Many banners’ links are programmed this way.
8.The visitor is using IE and the link to your site is from within a Flash application (there are a lot of ways to do this in Flash so there may be exceptions I would always recommend adding a Ad Campaign tracking variable to any CTA)
9.Your landing page redirects to another page via a 301 permanent server-side redirect
10.The link was on an intranet or some other web site behind a proxy or corporate gateway that was set up to strip referrers from requests
11.The visitor has made changes to their browser that suppresses the referrer information
12.Another site has put your page content into an iFrame and coded the frame to suppress the referrer, in order to make it difficult for you to find out who is framing your content

You say you have a feeling eMail with links to this homepage could be contributing.
If you have a recent campaign the emails themselves could have been misleading and lead to a decent CTR but then once people hit the page they weren't impressed.
Also have you noticed a high increase in referral traffic from any sources recently? Same principle could apply there.
What keywords are the homepage ranking for? Again people could be entering through certain phrases and then not seeing the results they were expecting

Thanks for the weather report! Are these new or returning visitors? (Does that reveal anything interesting?)
Is this a constant bounce rate or a recent change? What's the trend? What's the period covered?
As well as emails... any printed material (or other) with QR codes?

Introduce customer reviews and ratings onto our product pages
Hi, I'm looking to introduce historical customer reviews onto our product pages but i want an opinion on whether a product page that's indexed will jump from 0 reviews to possible 30+, what if any problems that could arise from this.. For a bit of background, we've been collecting customer reviews/ratings since 2015 on our internal system. I'm only looking to start using feedback from 2020 onwards. The current set up is that the product page will display the latest 30 reviews, on the same page is a link that will take the user to another page where they can review all the customer feedback. I'm using Google Schema to markup the text to ensure it is firstly understood by google and displays correctly too. So back to my original question. Will an e-commerce product page that currently has no customer reviews that is indexed, been seen differently if when the next time it's crawled its found to have, say 30+ reviews? Are there any implications this way? What's your experience? I look forward to reading your feedback.

GWT crawl errors: How big a ranking issue?
For family reasons (child to look after) I can't keep a close eye on my SEO and SERPs. But from top 10 rankings in January for a dozen keywords I'm now not in top 80 results -- save one keyword for which I'm  ~18-20.
Technical SEO | | Jeepster
Not a sitewide penalty: some of my internal pages are still ranking top 3 or so. In GWT, late March I received  warning of a rise in server errors:
17 Server Errors/575 soft 404s/17 Not Founds/Access Denied 1/Others 4
I've also got 2 very old sitemaps (from two different ex-SEO firms) & I'm guessing about 75% of the links on there no longer exist. Q: Could all this be behind my calamitous SERPS drop? Or should I be devoting my -- limited -- Â time to improving my links?0 -
Changing the anchor text of a big amount of links at once is bad for SEO?
Hi there, Our service at fotograf.de is a shopsystem for professional photographers. The customers can build their own website with our tool including an onlineshop to sell their pictures. We have a lot of links from our customers linking to our homepage. The links come from subdomains of our domain and from external domains. We are now thinking about changing the anchor text of half of the links (round about 300.000 links). Do we have to fear a penalization of Google for changing so many anchor texts at once? Do we get better rankings if we choose a more optimized anchor text or does this have no effect because most of the links are from subdomains (each customer has its own subdomain) of our domain? Thanks for answering! Sebastian

Crawl rate
Hello, In google WMT my site has the following message. <form class="form" action="/webmasters/tools/settings-ac?hl=en&siteUrl=http://www.prom-hairstyles.org/&siteUrl=http://www.prom-hairstyles.org/&hl=en" method="POST">Your site has been assigned special crawl rate settings. You will not be able to change the crawl rate. Why would this be?A bit of backgound - this site was hammered by Penguin or maybe panda but seems to be dragging itself back up (maybe) but has dropped from several thousand visitors/day to 100 or so.Cheers,Ian</form>

Restricted by robots.txt and soft bounce issues (related).
In our web master tools we have 35K (ish) URLs that are restricted by robots.txt and as have 1200(ish) soft 404s. Â WE can't seem to figure out how to properly resolve these URLs so that they no longer show up this way. Our traffic from SEO has taken a major hit over the last 2 weeks because of this. Any help? Thanks, Libby
