How to fix no follows-does the no follow number impact the seomoz "trust " rating?
-
THe main difference I see in the report on my site compared to a higher ranking competator is my percentage of no follow-54% me 4% on competator
How big a factor is no follow in ranking?
What is the major factor in the seomoz "trust rating"?
Does high no follow rate impact trust factor?
-
I agree with the above responses. How did you manage to get so many "nofollow" links though? 54% is rather high. It won't hurt you as the above members said, but it won't help you either other than that it helps to make all of your other links appear naturally begat.
Do you know what the major source of the nofollow links are?
-
Wianno,
In terms of how big a factor is (percentage of links with) nofollow, the thing you need to understand is a site with zero nofollow links or a very low percentage comparatively will look somewhat unnatural. As to precisely what that percentage needs to be, no one knows. For you, with 54%, that is really high (probably looks pretty natural though) and it prevents you from getting the link juice from all those sites. So, assuming you and your competitor have a similar number of total links, they will rank higher because they are getting juice from nearly twice as many links as you. Most of our client sites range from 1% to 10% of links as no follow.
The major factor in MozTrust is having "trusted sites" link to you or be linked to someone linking to you:
"MozTrust can be improved by getting links from other sites with high MozTrust such as goverment institutions and universities."
The description of looking at it like six degrees of separation says it best to me, if FDA.gov links to site A, and site A links to site B, and site B links to your site then that is likely providing a bit of a boost in mozTrust. (Obvious is FDA.gov linking to your site would be best.) If a site 4 degrees removed had an FDA.gov link, it would have less value to you than the first example. Then, the more trusted sites that are close in degrees of separation to you, the more mozTrust you shall be afforded.
As to high no follow and trust there is no correlation based on the definition of mozTrust: "...MozRank measures the link juice (ranking power) of both internal and external links..."
MozTrust is based on a seed group of trusted sites like government and educational sites. It is based on the number of these links and how often you get them: "Receiving links from sources which have inherent trust, such as the homepages of major university websites or certain governmental web pages, is a strong trust endorsement. By measuring the occurrence and frequency of these endorsements, MozTrust can quantify trust on the web."
So, from this I ascertain that if you had ten no follow links over 4 to 6 months from various government, .edu, and say wikipedia sites and half of them were no followed, it would still have a value that was based on getting a lot in a short amount of time. So if my competitor got the five links that were followed but not the 5 no follows, I would have more mozTrust.
Hope I did not confuse, In case I did, here is where it all comes from in the land of moz..... (What the heck is MozTrust?) (What is MozRank?)

**How big a factor is no follow in ranking?**No follow links do not impact rankings. The links are treated by Google as if they don't exist for ranking purposes. With that understood, Google can still follow the nofollow links so they can help with having your site's pages crawled more frequently. Additionally Google may use nofollow links in certain computations to detect spam. **What is the major factor in the seomoz "trust rating"?**Links from "trusted" sites. When you earn a (follow) link from Harvard.edu, WhiteHouse.org, Time.com or other "trusted" sites, your mT rating will improve. The closer a site is to a "trusted" source, the higher the amount of trust which will be passed. MozTrust is helpful to consider in combination with a site's other metrics. I went and added a H1 on my posts, but it is saying the issue was not fixed. Any ideas?
I "thought" I fixed a bunch of missing H1's on my blog, but when recrawled said the issue is still there. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong or how to fix? I'm not sure what to do other than put in an H1 heading-which I did. Thanks! Jamie

How do I fix a broken link to a product category page in wordpress?
We are building a new site currently at http://67.222.109.48/~cheapnan/ I started doing some SEO after the developer I hired failed to do it even though it was in the agreement. I did our old site so I should be able to do this but I am new to wordpress. Now when i go to the products tab at the top of the page the first 2 have broken links, I checked the rest and there are 3 total that I need to fix. I am unsure how to access the navigation so I can fix the links. Please tell me where to look.

Google Slower to Trust New Pages than One Year Ago?
It seems to me that Google is slower to trust (and rank) new pages today than in the past. I used to be able to put up a new page and it would go right to the top of a competitive SERP. For about the past year when I launch a new page it starts deep in the SERPs, sits there for a few weeks, then starts slowly moving up. These pages still eventually rank on the first page of Google - often at #1 or #2 after wikipedia or another strong site - but it can take a few months to get there, several months in a competitive SERP. These are not "hot news" topics where freshness is an important factor. Instead they are product pages or general information articles. Anybody else seeing this? [ Just stabbing in the dark here... I am wondering if Google is relying more on visitor behavior these days and the delay is while they collect data?... Just stabbing in the dark.]

How to fight against a site always "re-write" your content?
A site is always copying our content then re-write to their site, how to fight against this kind of action? (Many of those copied content can get a rank very closely behind us, which will grab some of our visits ) I tried to find DMCA, but as they have changed some paragraphes, etc, DMCA can't punish them as copying. I think many of you also have met such a problem, how will you handle this situation??

Why my competitors posts rank well if those posts have lower SEOMoz?
Hello SEOMoz forum! I have a smart phone related blog, but it's not publish new related posts. I saw that most of my competitors rank well than me, even if they don't have a higher rank on SEOMoz (PA and DA). Most of their post's SEOMoz PA rank is lower than (1-5), but similar post on my blog have higher PA rank (10-15. Thanks!

How does WordPress 3.5.1 impact site rankings?
We have a user interested in having a WordPress 3.5.1 blog on their own existing, robust site. There is a blog module available in the CMS but the user feels more familiar with WordPress. It will be set up at the root as a subdirectory. Based on the URL structure, Google should see the WordPress blog and the user's website as the same website. (www.website.com/wordpress). There will not be a 301 needed. Does using the Wordpress module impact rankings? We've understood that Google doesn't care for Wordpress because 99% of spammers use it... is that only if it is hosted on WordPress.com? Also, are there any other reasons that our user should use/avoid WordPress?

Tools to Eval Blog Content - Rate your Fav tool
Ok, so I know that is has been covered in depth and at the risk of being sent to “google it!” (Which I have done with no success) I thought that I would ask your opinions on the topic. What are the best content marketing evaluation tools? By this I am specifically referring to tools that evaluate the content of Blogs, etc and not the performance of the blog, etc. I’m eager to hear your thoughts of what works and if you care to share what tools did not. Thanks

Should I Have No Index, No Follow On Blog Category & Tag Pages?
At some point in the past I read or was told that No Index, No Follow tags on category and tag pages were a good thing on a standard WordPress blog in order to prevent duplicate content issues. Is this still true or was it ever true?
