Content Marketing Strategy for a Solar Panel Shop
-
Hi everybody
Everybody's talking about content marketing strategies these days and the videos from MozCon has definitely been a great inspiration for me.
I have a customer who sells solar panels (wiki) here in Denmark and they are more or less hooked on the idea of investing long term.
And this is where I wanna ask you guys for ideas to this strategy. I'm open to anything from overall guidelines to specific ideas on content.
I hope you will chip in, thanks a lot

HI loevgaard,
Solar panels are green and creating content should not be too challenging. The challenge is finding the right social media outlets or industry leading editors to help get your content visibility. IMO if your content will educate, entertain, or guide a user it is not enough.
I would use followerwonk to find real people that are in this niche, talking about it and getting social interaction. Network with them, earn their trust by reading and innovating. Once you network with the industry gurus you will be able to create the content they will want to share, or better yet link to off of your blog
Hope this helps.

Re ideas for content, start by finding out what people actually want to know about the product.
For example try using Google's auto complete feature <-- link to screen shot examples.
Find out what is already ranking for those keywords, then produce better content than those results.
You can take it up a notch by using http://ubersuggest.org
Good luck!

The first thing is to start getting some regular traffic from your articles.
Start with evergreen content with titles such as ' the benefits of ...' or 'top tips for saving energy' or ' what to look out for in choosing solar panels'. All these kind of searches will start generating traffic and links naturally.
Once you have a good basis of evergreen content you can start to have more of a mix of news articles.
This would be articles based around seasonal events such as 'saving money on your energy over christmas'. Also look for anything coming up over legislation that you can write articles about to become an authority on solar panels.
Try and produce the articles using Google plus authorship to help with the ranking and again to help build up trust and authority. Post all articles to your google plus profile. Facebook also may help with some unique articles, polls and sponsored stories.
Does the company have any success stories where you could perhaps produce a video? Dont just think of content marketing as just content. It could include infographics, video and whitepapers.

find out some blog sites in similar niche which accept guest blogger. Write blogs on conserving energy etc and get links from there (But you need to win the trust of site admin first through active participation). Use Open site explorer to find out where your competitors are getting links from. This will give you an idea about the sites in your niche. Then try to get links from there.

Can I share share my content with other sites either as a individual post or RSS or will I be encourage duplicate content on the web and upset Google
Hi, I have a new site http://www.homeforbusiness.co.uk. I want to encourage traffic to the site by sharing some of my content with other related websites which have a higher PR ranking and traffic for a link to my site. Is this going to upset Google re-duplicate content and devalue my site and stop any organic rankings in the future? Equally some high PR sites which have a good synergy with mine such as http://thewomensbusinessclubs.com/ allow me to add my RSS feed with their blog network. Is this a good thing to do or not for the same reasons as above? Or can I only do the above my creating fresh content? Thanks, Elizabeth Conley

Should we syndicate content?
Hello Mozzers! Our company (FindMyAccident) is an accident news site. The goal is to roll our reporting out to all 50 states; currently, we operate full-time in 7 states. To date, the largest expenditure is our writing staff. We hire professional

journalists who work with police departments and other sources to develop written
content and video for our site. Our visitors also contribute stories and/or
tips that add to the content on our domain. In short, our content is original. A site that often appears alongside us in the SERPs in the markets where we work full-time is accidentin.com. They are a site that only syndicates accident news and offers little original content. (They also allow users to submit their own accident stories, and the entries index quickly and are sometimes viewed by hundreds of people in the same day. What's perplexing is that these entires are isolated incidents that have little to no media value, yet they do extremely well.) The link profile is virtually non-existent. There are approximately 6 linking domains. I don't rest my bets with Quantcast figures, but accidentin does use their pixel sourcing and the figures indicate that they are receiving up to 80k visitors a day in some instances. Not too shabby for the Flying Dutchman of accident news sites. 🙂 I understand that it's common to see news sites syndicate from the AP, etc., and traffic accident news is not going to have a lot of competition (in most instances), but the real shocker is that accidentin will sometimes appear as the first or second result above the original sources. What the...!? The question: does anyone have a guess as to what is making it perform so well? While looking at their model, I'm wondering if we're not silly to syndicate news in the states where we don't have actual staff? It would seem we could attract more traffic by setting up syndication in our vacant states. Should the Panda updates have any effect on their site? Thanks, gang.... Wayne0 -

How quickly should one add content?
I'm building a content site (the model is AdSense revenue) around a certain niche, and I'm currently paying for about 6 articles to be contributed per week. I have the capacity to be paying for a lot more articles, however, so I'm wondering what, if any, factors exist to recommend building the site up slowly as opposed to throwing on e.g. 100 articles over the next week? Those I can think of are: 1. Going slowly leaves room for better keyword optimization etc. 2. Google seems to favor aged domains/content, so 100 good articles now certainly isn't as advantageous as 100 articles 2 years from now. All that being said, I still feel like the benefit in terms of traffic of adding more content now - since I can - might outweigh these considerations. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Content placement
Does content placement on a page have any effect, bring up top as opposed to bottom as opposed to embedded within? On my product detail page it comes up last after image, social section and add to cart
