Anyone have a list of paid directories?
-
I want to get into some good paid directories, but every list I have found out there is either just a top ten and repeats the same ones or is a list of 500 where I know most are worthless.
Has anyone submitted to paid directories that has a list of good ones that are actually worth submitting to?

Just wanted to leave a quick note saying that SEOmoz has upgraded the Link Directory! You can view a post Cyrus wrote with more information about the directory updates and link building via directories at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/seo-link-directory-best-practices. It isn't paid directories specifically, but it is a freshly reviewed list that should help you out.

I am currently debating the cost vs value of one of our business.com links. It's $300 per year, and our page we are on has a mozRank of 2.37 and mozTrust of 5.36 for the category we are in. However, every link on that page, except for 3 (including ours) is no followed. Essentially we only have to share the link juice with 2 other companies. I'm just not sure that it's still worth the $300 though with such a low mozRank. Anyone else have any thoughts on that?

I guess I'm going to just use a bunch of the random lists out there and go through each one individually to let you know if they still work or whatever. This could be a while...

Thanks a lot by those recommendations.
I would give you some if I had found any on this range , currently the only one i knew was the JoeAnt one

Read this and bug Rand about it:

-
Some recent ones I have been using is:
Einet.net (PR8)
JoeAnt
BOTW
V7N (often have discount codes in the V7N directory forum)
Galaxy
And I would LOOOVE if someone returned the favor by suggesting more high-authority paid directories in the $15-$75 range too!

Hi Daniel,
I don't have a list but i have recently seen some benefit from business.com. It's not the cheapest directory at around $300 per year but you might be able to find a coupon code on google.
Best of luck
Ben

HTTPS websites in Directories
Hi Everyone, Whilst trying to submit some client sites to directories we have been struggling to post any of our clients sites that use the HTTPS protocol. When trying to submit they usually come up with an error stating that the website could not be found etc. It doesn't accept it if I remove the HTTPS or replace it with the HTTP version either. Any ideas, or has anyone else had any issues with this? Couldn't find much information about it online anywhere. Thanks 🙂

Creating Local Listings for Small Business Clients - Verifying if phone call is only verification option? Are directory submission services worth it?
I'm relatively new to local SEO --- I do a lot of local websites for small businesses (restaurants, bars, hotels, attorneys, dentists) in my area and thought it would make sense to include basic local SEO work with my websites. I have a couple of questions about adding my client's businesses to local business directories... I've started by adding each business to Google, Bing, and Yahoo business listings. I verified these listings with the postcard option which my clients then email to me. I've started adding them to additional directories but have found that many local directories require a phone call to the business to verify it (no other options). How do most SEO companies handle this? Do I ask them to forward their phone to mine for a night? Does it make sense to do local directory submission by hand? I created a spreadsheet for each company and keep track of each directory I submit to (the directory name, verification status, and username & password). I looked at services like Yext but doubt they are as thorough as doing it by hand? Any other advice on local business directory submission would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Paid Directory Value
Hi All! Recently we scaled back the number of paid directories that we use for our clients, mainly due to them being devalued. To select which directories made the cut, we looked at things like Domain Authority, Page Rank, and Trust; all of the things you're supposed to be looking for in a quality link. We even used the list of directories here on SEOmoz as a reference. Two of the directories we use are Yahoo and BOTW, both of which seem to draw the ire of many professionals here. Is there something I'm missing? If these directories have solid numbers, why such backlash towards them? I appreciate any insight you can give me! Frank

Anyone used this service before? - Organic Content Distribution
I was pitched today by a "content syndication network" that claims to be able to syndicate across 200 "local news" sites along with syndicate the content to the editors and writers social sites, along with the publisher social sites for a flat fee. Just like a MarketWire.com service but NOT for press releases. For articles. The company offering this is www.befirstinc.com. Need to vett them out and make sure this is not a FTC nor Google Quality Guidelines violation for SEO purposes.

Do Local Listings like Yellow Pages and yelp count for backlinks??
I am wondering if adding your company with url on a local listing like yellowpages.com, yelp.com, merchantCircle.com, etc. actually counts as a "backlink"? I'm thinking it is not considered a link because I have never seen one listing in Open site explorer, either that, or it is considered a backlink, just not one important enough for open site explorer to show it. Does anyone know for sure??

Dmoz.Org listings - how much more difficult can it be?
We have had a quality website for 12 years. We have good rankings and good PR. But for some reason, I have never been able to get listed on Dmoz.org - it's like they're not even reviewing it. It's not like I got a rejection letter or anything, just a no response and we just can't seem to get listed there. It's almost like the editors for our category are just not responsive or just not around. Or maybe they're a competitor and don't want us listed? Questions: 1. How important is it for an established site to get listed? I imagine that dmoz being an authority site, it would still be very helpful for rankings. 2. There are dmoz "submission services" - where they claim to list your site the proper way. They don't guarantee their service, since they obviously can't, and you have to pay either way. Does anyone recommend these services and anyone know of a particular one that is up & up? Any help on getting listed would be appreciated!

Blog Directories
Will links from blog directories to our subfolder-located blog within our website help the ranking of our overall site? In other words, will it just help the rankings of the main blog page (where the directory links are pointing to), or will it pass the link juice to the rest of the site? Thanks!
