How Can I Rank My One Keyword ?
-
I read many places about never use the same keywords/anchor text this will consider as spam by google, so i want to know if suppose my main keyword is Indian bridal sarees than how can i give rank to that keyword, should i use the same exact keyword but in different format like bridal indian sarees or indian bridal sarees shopping something like that. Should i use LSI keywords in that keywords. Please help
Second, I also read some people saying they use 70% primary keywords and 30% LSI or generic words, so that mean if i have 10 articles so in 7 articles i have to give primary keyword and the rest of the 3 will be generic. Kindly please advice this also.

If you're going to target a specific keyword, here's what I'd recommend (and I'll answer you specific questions at the end, but Dana's already done a good job with that).
1. Ask why. Why do you want to rank for that keyword? Are you sure it's going to do for you what you want it to - which I assume is bring sales? Is your page set up to convert and create sales from visits for this keyword?
2. Study the current search results for that keyword. What is Google returning for results right now? Looks like it's most shopping pages. They've obviously determined this is a transactional or "action search" - someone wants to do something (buy Indian bridal sarees).
3. Have _one _targeted page that's optimized for that keyword: Indian bridal sarees - you need a page with all the on-page elements that make it clearly "about" that topic. Although a little outdatted, check out Rand's "Perfecting On Page Optimization" - DON'T obsess over this. It's a traditional starting point. Use Moz's on-page analysis tool to see if you're page is targeting the keyword. Again, don't obsess, but if you score an F, you may want to improve things.
Getting to your exact questions;
I read many places about never use the same keywords/anchor text this will consider as spam by google
You are most likely referring to the Penguin algorithm. Nowadays you should aim to have about 75% of your back link anchors to be branded and only 25% keywords.
The stuff you have read is not talking about the percentage of keywords on the page, or even the percentage on internal keyword anchors.
I think in general you are just mixing up back links and just general keywords on the website.
if i have 10 articles so in 7 articles i have to give primary keyword and the rest of the 3 will be generic.
Dana's right with this, I wouldn't pay attention to that at all. Just write your articles how you want to. Target keywords if you can, but don't obsess.
I would honestly focus more on - what's everything you can do to get traffic to those articles without Google? That's a whole other topic, but I think that mindset would be valuable when thinking of how to go about writing, and getting traffic to, your article content.

whenever I an confronted with going off into the weeds trying to decide how to balance text/keywords on a page a always go back to non SEO thoughts
1.) What does a visitor want to do on this page?
2.) What Is my goal for them to do on this page?
Yes they have landed on your page for keyword 'Indian bridal sarees' but do they want to know what it is, buy it, rent it, get it cleaned..etc.
Write towards those questions and slide in keywords second. I know it's crazy and makes things harder.
-
Yes, use variations that seem natural.
Forget about 70-30 or any other algo methods. Write and use anchor text that seems normal and natural. Forget everything else. Period.
Why? Because tomorrow the algo is going to be different. Google's algorithm changes over 400 times a year and no one knows what it is. As a result, chasing it is a futile exercise. Be natural and interesting and you'll do great.
-
So you are saying, i will go with that variations ?
Second can you tell me about the 70-30% algo method ?
-
I'm probably going to take some heat for this answer, but it's just an honest answer, so I'm hoping the SEOMoz community will go gentle with me.
If your keyword is "Indian bridal sarees" and that is the best, most natural combination of those words, then for the sake of all that is holy in this world, use it. Don't make ridiculous iterations of it just because you think it's what Google wants.
Perhaps you could use these variations if you had to: "Indian bridal saree" - "bridal saree" - "wedding saree" or "Indian wedding saree." But if you start using anchor text that is like "saree bridal wedding" or "saree bridal Indian" I think it's just silly.
Take advantage of synonyms by all means, but don't feel like you have to start moving words around for your anchor text to the point of not making sense.
Does that help a little?

What do you do with indexed pages that you can't find any keywords for?
You know those pages that you really need to have for your site that most people get to through the nav bar or maybe internal linking, but never through organic search? The ones where you can't find any applicable keywords with volume or even just a keyword with no volume data that just shows up in the Google autocomplete or People Also Search For. What's the better option? just not optimize the page for any keywords at all, but have Title Tag/Meta Description optimized for CTR just in case OR optimize the page for a very loosely applicable keyword even though it's a a bit of stretch or longshot

Keyword Plan Of Attack
We have looked up our direct competitor to see what keywords they rank #1 for (aside from their own company name). We have narrowed it down to 3 that we want to focus on. Our plan is to build internal landing pages, external landing pages and beef up our content. Is that a good strategy to start or are we missing something?

How granular should I get with Keyword research?
I'm doing KW research for a new business. My understanding from KW research guides: Use tools to create a list of thousands of keywords Analyze difficulty and search volume Reduce your list and do on page optimization for your select KWs My dilemma with this approach is that it seems "keyword based" rather than "intent" or "category" based. e.g. Let's say I have a grocery store. Ignoring SEO, I know that these are my main categories: Produce Meat Dairy Canned Goods Baked Goods In other words, the above categories are the general "intents" and "categories" that I'd really want to rank for. Keyword tool shows that they have high volume and high difficulty. Let's say that after doing keyword research, I discover "Low Fat Chicken Breasts" and "Turkey Sausage" and "Cheap Meat Wholesale" have decent search volume and low competition. I don't quite understand how I'm supposed to utilize these fringe keywords in my on page SEO plan because it doesn't make sense as a human to categorize my site that way. Not sure if this is clear. Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should really be getting this granular on keywords to help guide my store categories or if I should just be picking broader terms.

Keywords with no search volume
Hi there! What are your thoughts on optimizing pages for keywords that have no search volume (using the Keyword Planner)? I'm not sure it should be done, since optimizing for keywords that no one searches for is kind of useless, right? Or should I do it hoping that sometime in the future the keyword will have a surge on searches? Thanks!

Why do my keyword ranking differ from the results on Google ?
I've been working on a specific campaign for a couple of days, and been noticing that my keyword ranking is much different on my campaign than in reality. I tried my keyword on Google (with the same settings I have on my campaign) and my keyword ranks at #5 instead of not in 50, as indicated on my campaign. Can someone give me a hint on this issue ? Thank you !

Ranking Factors
Hi, Question from a newbie. Several years ago, my company invented The Mosquito device which emits high frequency sound to disperse groups of troublesome kids. I guess you could say it went viral. The result was that we have always ranked at position 1 or 2 on Google and never really put any work in to it. It was automatic. My question is, that over the years we have brought out other products which were not as significant etc. and have put a bit of effort in to rankings in the UK and done OK, however, no we are about to launch something that is going to generate a lot of interest in the security market, but not as much as mosquito. We have therefore been putting some serious thought in to the name of this product and this is where i am stuck, i have only been learning SEO for a matter of months, just enough to know that i don't know enough, so here is my plea for guidance. Our company is called Compound Security Systems www.compoundsecurity.co.uk and we make GSM and GPRS communicating security systems that are battery powered and wireless, for use in empty properties, construction sites, farms, etc. Our new product is one of the above but with a visual verification (camera / video) system in it specifically for EXTERNAL use (there are 1 or 2 for internal use). The only name we can come up with that is not already in use is 'CompoundVision". Now, going back to Mosquito, we ranked 1 or 2 even though there are millions of pages of content relating to Mosquitos. We have a similar situation with CompoundVision. Compound is part of our company name, the camera systems will also be used to secure compounds, but 'compound vision' is how insects eyes work and there is a huge amount of content out there. I have run a keyword analysis in Moz.com Keyword analysis tool (see below) but i really do not understand how to draw a conclusion due to the mitigating factors above. Any suggestions / wisdom would be most welcome. Thanks Si Rank Page Name and URL / Vertical Result Page Authority Page Linking Root

Adding qualifiers to keywords?
I know that it's worth adding qualifiers to high value keywords to create long-tail variations which will later have the potential to rank well for the main keyword as well... My questions is, how important is it that the newly-formed keyword/phrase also be evaluated for search volume? E.g. "tips for job interviews" has a high search volume, but scores 72 in the Keyword Difficulty tool - quite high. I would therefore be tempted to create a "10 tips for job interviews" articles or something similar, yet THIS particular phrase is searched for <10 times per month... If there are not any easy-to-find qualifiers that also create a well-searched for keyword/phrase, is it still worth adding them?
