Anyone used this service before? - Organic Content Distribution

I was pitched today by a "content syndication network" that claims to be able to syndicate across 200 "local news" sites along with syndicate the content to the editors and writers social sites, along with the publisher social sites for a flat fee. Just like a MarketWire.com service but NOT for press releases. For articles.
The company offering this is www.befirstinc.com.
Need to vett them out and make sure this is not a FTC nor Google Quality Guidelines violation for SEO purposes.

Looks like they don't watch their own site very well (see all the viagra, laser removal and everything else in the comment section). I believe a company "selling" content services, but don't monitor what is on there site could be a sign not to use them.

They claimed MSN, Yahoo and that they also ghost write for the AP. So, I'll get some references and also some case studies. I agree, it should be for newsworthy content if I decide to use them. Thanks for your opinion.

I don't know anything about this company but I don't think that I have to know about them.
I would use this service iff and only iff ALL FOUR of the following are working in concert....
-- I have a strong message to get out (a message that I want people to see... not have these be signposts to pass traffic to my website)
-- These news sites have kickass traffic - that does not come from search. They are worthless if these sites are ghost towns and if their traffic is mostly from search most of their pages will be filtered because you have 200 duplicate copies out there.
-- My page is going to be strongly promoted in prominent positions on these sites and not have a link to them on the ass of the site.
-- My page is going to be promoted on them for a long time and not appear today and be gone tomorrow just like stale news disappears from every other news site.
I personally can't imagine getting the four items above all working simultaneously in a way that would give me value. So I would not be a user of that service.

Ugh content! I don't get it
Everyone on this website says the proper way to build links is with great content. I don't get that because I am trying to build links for a classified ads website and there is no "great content" for any of the classified ads websites. None of them have blogs or any content other than the stuff people are selling. When I look at my competitors inbound links using open site explorer, they are all junk. Most of the links listed in open site explorer are dead /broken links and the ones that are not dead links are spammy, low quality links including many link exchanges. So, I don't get the "great content to build links" route because in my vertical it's not being done. Suggestions on how to build links in this situation?

Content of the Product Page
Hi Everybody : how can you tell if the content on the product pages are accessible by google ? please have a look at my product page : http://www.fireplaceproducts.co.uk/stoves/aarrow-stoves/aarrow-ecoburn-defra-wood-burning-stove/ i used classes in product page to set the key features, construction ,... i notices other companies done these as text and they get better ranks do you think that's the reason ? also to test that i added the text exact same as the key features , construction ,... as additional information at the end of the product page , would you thin that would be considered as duplication ? Kind Regards Arta

Moving content archive from a new blog to a mature content website?
I'm working with a publisher who has a young blog that is 6 mos old and is considering folding it and moving it's archive of content into a relavent, more mature website. This blog already has numerous links directing readers to this more mature website. My question is would it make more sense to leave the blog in place and continue to publish new posts and benefit from the link relationship with the mature website? Considering the blog is relatively new, would it matter much if we folded and moved it's archive?

Example of a local "boring-niche" site in a relatively high competition area using strictly white hat tactics
I'm looking for an example of a site in a very boring service niche locally "let's say elevator doors in chicago" or something like that, that successfully using blogging, content generation, etc to achieve top rankings above its spammy competitors. Anyone care to give out a case study? I'm not talking about companies that submit to 100's of local directories like yelp, or google maps rankings. I'm talking about organic or blended serps.

Has Anyone Used Zemanta ?
I read a post some time back on zemanta and thought its a great idea to build links and it has a great outreach strategy The two things you need are alot of quality images and the budget for the monthly cost. I do plan to try it in the future and wanted to know if anyone has given it a try here ? Cheers, Vishal

Site content creation
I have a new customer that wants to build a comprehensive website to provide dental health information. However, he's a busy dentist and can't develop all the content himself. He particularly likes what mercola.com (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/current.aspx or http://blogs.mercola.com/sites/vitalvotes/default.aspx) is doing to provide content from other sources. At first I thought this could be a good thing and that we could setup some Google Alerts that would alert us to new content related to specific topic areas and then post excerpts and links to the original source of the content. But now I'm concerned that we'll get penalized for this. Can you give me some advice on how to go about getting new/fresh content on a new website that doesn't require someone to write it all themselves? Thank you!
