Competitors SERP's

One of our competitors is routinely achieving excellent SERP for brand related keywords within only a couple of months of adding the respective brand to their website.
Full details are explained in the attached image to avoid the competitor being notified of this post via Google Alerts.
Can anyone identify how they are achieving this and point me in the right direction?
The other thing is that I was also achieving good SERPs for these and other brand related keywords but I seem to have dropped off the face of google for them, where my competitor has not and who continues to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Hi,
Well again with just a quick look one thing that sticks out is that the majority of your links seem to be coming from directory sites. Directory links, forum links, pr release links, these are all pretty low value links mainly because they require so little effort to get. If anyone can get them then the search engines cannot (and should not) give that much relevance to them in terms of quality indicators.
I would suggest taking a step back from all the 'technical' steps you detail above and try to take a more holistic look at what your competitors are doing. Links from the dailymail and the bbc show they are doing some good pr/outreach and this is resulting in them getting press (and links) from sources that have a much higher bar to entry than (for example) directory links.
Maybe the bbc seems out of reach for you at the moment, how about some more local business/news sites which publish articles about local businesses? Well you don't mention which your site is, but in regards your competitor from a quick glance it looks like they are doing a pretty good job in quite a few areas.
- decent site content and architecture
- good pr/promotion (recent links on the dailymail and bbc, not bad!)
- social channels look solid enough
- advertising/affilate linking in some logical looking niche sites
They have been around since 2006 and it looks like they are on the ball. So all in all, not impossible, rather more like a pretty well planned strategy that seems to be paying off.

Working through the slides on my first seo project, I'm trying to determine the most popular content on competition sites.
From the video, I understand I should be looking for unique opportunities. But is there a baseline for product qualification, ie., a min. PA,LRD, Inbound LInks, social shares, etc. I guess I'm asking what I should be looking for in the data provided on each competing site? What determines THE most popular and unique product?

Raise your hand if you're doing SEO for manufacturers please.
When you're working for a manufacturer it's not exactly the same as working for a company that is flat-out informing people with content and links and revealing a lot of information (relatively speaking). Please tell me what you do when you're working with a client that is not willing to reveal too much because competition = fear of the unknown (like if you take a chance and post something online that your competition may use against you). I would appreciate less speculative and more informed answers from people who have actually done this kind of work - as opposed to those who think theoretically they may know the best way to go because they work for other types of businesses that are not as proprietary as manufacturing is. Isn't unfair that Keyword domain Exactly Match just overpowers every domain and page authority?
Im currently doing a research for a low-medium competitive keyword (SEO Moz Keyword difficult Tool it showed 36% competition, its a one word keyword) in my country. That keyword had a Google AdWords Broad Match of 368.000 searchs and a Google AdWords Exact Match of 33.100 searchs in April. The currently number one site for that keyword have an exactly match for that keyword, www.KEYWORD.com and nothing else. Then I ran and advanced report to that keyword and heres the initial result: This number one site has a domain authority of only 11 and a page authority of 25. The second site have the following domain name -> www.companynameKEYWORD.com.br (its in Brasil, so theorically and .br should worth more than a .com domain right?) Anyway the second site have a domain authority of 37 and a page rank authority of 45. So after this link all the others are like that, www.companynameKEYWORD.com and the domain and page authority is according to how it suposed to be (higher domain and page are ranked better). The exactly same thing happen when I search for a more long tail of this keyword (wich are 2 words) happen. The exactly match are ranked 1st with a very low page and domian authority while the others come first. Some more info about that number 1 ranked site- The layout is terrible and not user friendly. The site took more than 10 seconds to load Have not a single inpage SEO optimization. According to alexa the bounce rate is around 50% Now follows the data from Linkscape data between the 1st and 2nd ranked pages Overal Score - 19% x 38% Page mozRank - 2.04 x 3.95 Page mozTrust - 4.92 x 5.45 External mozRank - 2.04 x 3.95 Subdomain mozRank - 1.81 x 3.45 Domains Linkin - 4 x 163 External Links - 8 x 265 So, looks like that only two things should be 90% of the focus from a SEO perspective. Have an old exactly keyword match domain and youre good to go 😄 Edited 1: About the linkbacks to each page The 1st page in rank biggest page authority linking back (dofollow) have an authority of 36 from a domain authority of 49 The 2nd in the rank the highest dofollow linkback have a page authority of 40 and domain of 85 Edit 2: 1st in rank were created in 2000 2nd in rank were created in 2007
