Remarketing

Anyone have success with re-marketing? If so any particular strategy?
I have been hesitant to try it out b/c I personally find it a bit annoying, but I am willing to change my mind if people have had success.

The realization that you are being tracked on the internet doesn't sit well with some people. I personally am OK with re-marketing because I am served banner ads related to the products I have already been looking at, so my perspective is that I receive a web experience that is closely aligned with my tastes. However I believe that most people are not aware of what is going on. Remember this is probably a conversation that most people have never had before, and they are not aware of how Google works.
You do however have a few options to stop re-marketing.... just clear your cookies. This will remove all re-marketing cookies from your machine. You will still continue to see banner ads, they just wont be related to the websites you have previously visited. You can also surf the web 'incognito', which does not allow tracking cookies.
I do however recommend setting max impression per day for your re-marketing campaigns. 7-9 impressions per campaign per day is a good range.

The "follow potential customers around the web for the next 30 days" is what I personally find annoying. In principle, it sounds like it could work, but being remarketed to has turned me off to a few brands for whatever reason...maybe I'm in the minority or maybe people don't notice it and/or realize that the brand controls the ads as opposed to Google?

Mike gave a ton of links to re-marketing info, so I'll just throw in my 2 cents...REMARKETING ROCKS!!!
It allows your ads to follow potential customers around the web for the next 30 days....at a significant discount to search CPC. I suggest setting up re marketing campaigns specific to each product. So If a visitor was on Product A's web page, you should have a re-marketing group for Product A, with a banner/text ad promoting product A, pointing to products A's page on your website.

Remarketing should absolutely be part of your SEM toolkit. It is intuitive if you think about it. You are serving ads to people who visited your site, but for whatever reason did not convert. The price per click is (generally) less than the average Adwords PPC and conversion rates are (generally) much better. There are many people who think that conversions from remarketing/retargeting would have converted anyways, but I am under the belief that it is better safe than sorry.
Here are some great resources for retargeting and remarketing:

Adding AdWords Remarketing Pixel to "Partner" Domains?
I have read through the AdWords advertising policies, but there isn't an extremely clear answer to my question: does it break AdWords policy to include a remarketing pixel on a partner website? Example - I own and run 123boats.com, my acquaintance who owns abchotels.com has agreed to put my remarketing pixel on his website, and I plan to show remarketing ads to his website visitors advertising my services at 123boats.com. Is anyone aware of any documentation that explicitly allows or disallows this type of "partner" remarketing tracking?

Set-up remarketing through Analytics or Adwords?
I am setting up a remarketing campaign and wonder if anyone has any thoughts on whether to do this via Analytics or Adwords? Doing it through Analytics appears to be more straight forward - and I like the idea of broadening the data set that comes from an Analytics report. I therefore I wonder if it comes down to personal preference? Would be grateful to any thoughts for or against.

Adsense vs Adroll Remarketing
I have a current Adroll program running for the company I work for. We recently began using Adsense again as well. My questions is, what is the overlap of these 2 networks? I know you can select an option in adroll to have it not advertise on the Google network, but how large is that overlap? And are there benefits of using both programs simultaneously (just a larger reach)?

Cost of Retargeting (Remarketing) Ad Clicks
If you run an Adwords banner campaign with retargeting, how is the cost per click determined? My hunch is that it would be different than text ads in search result pages.

How Do You Sell View-Through-Conversions and Remarketing?
Hey Mozzers, We have a client that has spent $500 on a remarketing trial. This resulted in 4 direct sales with a revenue of $600 and 75 view through conversions. The average sale is about $150. I presented a report with a best and worst case scenario of the VTCs (that is all VTCs were responsible or no VTCs or some VTCs were a direct result of the remarketing campaign). The client needed more proof that the VTCs were a direct result of the remarketing - which I did not have. I know this was a really profitable campaign, but I just cant prove it. Has anyone had any experience with this? Or know of any good blog posts I could read up on? Thanks.
