hey guys...
I am trying to figure out the best way of doing PPC. I dont want waste money doing it the less effective way.
So far I have been looking at Acquisio and wordstream.. I am not sure which would be best for me or if there is other options that would be even better.
I am in house in charge of 2 ecommerce websites.

we did marin and it absolutely destroyed our business. We are very dilligent with our ad spend and Marin could never catchup. Maybe we change bids more than most people but we were a lot more careful than marin was and seasonality was a big problem. Instead of paying marin 150 a year we decided to go with another ppc person and that seemed to be better.

Branden thanks for sharing your personal experience, I will give a try on Marin...

Thanks Dana, always good to hear from some one in similar position. I just start the trial I really like the interface too... I want to see how the "Bid Management tool" will behave.

We tried Marin and the results were good, but we needed integrated closed loop reporting for paid and organic search. We ultimately integrated our back end data with Adobe Site Catalyst and then used Adobe Search Center for paid search management. This allowed bid adjustment based on our back end closed loop data, and allows consolidated reporting for both paid and organic search.
Adobe Search Center isn't the best tool, but it's not bad and the full integration with Site Catalyst makes it worth it. Adobe bought Efficient Frontier last year and will be replacing Search Center with this new tool.

Marin is the best. I've used Acquisio and WordStream before, and my campaigns perform best when using Marin. Acquisio has better charts/reporting than Marin, but my campaigns perform best using Marin. Also use Mongoose if you want to track inbound phone calls back to the keyword searched for. Mongoose integrates into Marin seamlessly.
Marin Enterprise will cost 3-5% of your spend, which comes with a dedicated Marin rep who will help you with all of Marins features/tools. If money is an issue, you can use Marin Pro for 1% of spend, but you wont get a dedicated Marin rep. I started with Enterprise and then switched to Pro after I understood all of Marins tools.
Marins bidding algorithm is awesome. Marin allows for various keyword attribution, A/B split test for text ads & creative, different bidding based on cpl, cps, roi, margin % etc. You can also bid different for various conversion types...purchase, lead, facebook like, newsletter signup, phone call, etc. It also stream lines your work flow which allows me to manage 2X more campaigns.

Hi Cesar,
I am in-house in charge of 2 ecommerce sites as well. We just completed a free trial of Wordstream and I was very impressed. We are going to give it a try for 6 months. I found it very easy to jump in and start managing things without spending a lot of time finding my way around the interface. That's my two cents Cheers,
Dana

PPC: how to get rid of an ad appearing on a keyword we don't want?
Hi, Our ad on Google Ads is appearing for a search we don't want. it isn't in our search keywords and when i try and ad it to our negative ones, we get the error " You cannot exclude keywords that are targeted " which i assume means that google thinks we are bidding on it? We have a selection of broad phrase matches so i can only think that this is where it's coming from? Do you have any tips on tracking down which keyword is generating this ad and how we can turn it off? (we don't want to pay for clicks on this search if possible!) Btw - i have turned off each keyword in turn to test it = nothing. have then paused the whole campaign = gets rid of the ad (but this is our most successful campaign so i can't just turn it off). Any advice super super welcome. thank you!

What's the best call tracking system to use for PPC & subsequent landing pages?
Client has about 30 locations. Not planning to get too fancy (i.e. like putting JS on the page so that a dynamically generated phone is displayed to track keywords). At this point, just we only want to see if PPC is providing telephone conversions. I've used Mongoose Metrics before and it seemed good. However, I don't want to go with something simply because it's what I already know. Would love to know some of your favourites and if there are better options. Also - client is in Canada. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Google PPC - coupon balances
So, I know that you can't simply transfer a coupon credit in Google AdWords to another account. My question, if anyone knows, is there a way to do this using My Client Center? We manage multiple accounts, and have another coming on board that has a pre-existing coupon credit. We were going to set up a new account (which we would handle billing for and just invoice) for the client. But, that would leave them unable to use a coupon code. If it's managed under MCC, is there a way to work around this?

Launching a PPC Campaign during the Holidays
Hi Mozzers- I have a client who is interested in running a PPC campaign. We are all setup to go...Here's my dilemma. The client provides moving services - household and commercial. I'm torn whether or not to launch the campaign during the holidays. Pros: We're not paying for impressions so it won't cost us any more $$. Cons: It probably won't show the best outcome over December - clicks/conversion. Thoughts? Pull the trigger and launch or wait until January? Thanks!

PPC Billing
I'd like to add PPC as a service for my company. However I'm at a loss as to how to charge for it. I've received cold calls from those "SEO guys" charging $200 for PPC services. But I doubt that they're very profitable or even ethical. For you PPC guys, are you billing hourly on top of the campaign, and how are you outlining this for your customers? Thanks!
