Local Seo for Two Offices?
-
What is the best way to go about doing local seo for two offices? Everything I can research on local seo provides awesome information...if you have one office, but we have two: one is in downtown Tampa and the other in a northern suburb. Anyone have experience with this that they'd like to share? I'd appreciate it.
Happy Friday!

Hi Ruben,
You've received some great feedback here. Has your question been answered or is there anything else that you're not quite sure of? Let me know!

Hey Ruben! Great question as I recently posed a similar question to the community, since we're getting ready to take over an medical practice website and they have 3 office locations. Our goal is to touch up their existing website with improved navigation. One of the key takeaways is that each location has their own independent page.
Within each page, we are going to be accomplishing a lot such as:
- Build the location pages off your root domain as noted above, domain.com/Office1 and domain.com/Office2 so that you can work to build links to those individual pages going forward
- Create and implement Schema markup to let Google quickly identify the NAP (Name, Address, Phone #) to the respective office and make sure it's consistent with the G+ pages information that you verify as noted below
- Provide 100% original and non-duplicated content which talks about the practice, the eye care services, products they offer, and which doctors at that specific office
- An interactive Google map pin marketing their exact location (this also links to their G+ page)
- A slideshow to display only that office's pictures
- Internal links to/from the Home page and some inner pages like the Dr bios, an eye care service, etc
- And most importantly making sure that the office location pages are linked to only their respective G+ pages (you will need separate verified G+ pages as a note)
There are other items we'll tackle for the website, but remember, you can "optimize" the G+ pages, so our focus will be to populate those individual G+ pages with as much content, images, videos, and links to the site page and site Blog as Google will allow. Another tip I learned was to do a Review Acquisition Strategy to obtain more reviews to your G+ pages and other sites by potentially using a service like GetFiveStars.com.
You will also want to build local citations, so we're looking into the new Moz Local service to assist our efforts. Link those to the location pages and if you have a blog, like we'll be doing for these eye doctors, then you can also write articles specific to an area/their location and build more relevance and inner links to the location pages.
I know you were asking about getting ranked in local and feel I went on a tangent, however, all of that will assist in getting the local listing in G+ more relevance and more exposure over the competitors who may only have a G+ page with a description, an image and a link back to the site.
Hope this helps! And all the best! - Patrick

I presume that your site is structured something like this way?
www.example.com/city1
www.example.com/city2If so, then you must avoid duplicate-content issues and make each page as unique (and useful!) as possible. For example, each location-specific page could include a Google Maps snippet, a local address and directions, the local weather, the local phone number and local news, and so on. Companies that have offices in various cities can write about what specifically is done at each location -- for example, marketing might be in London, sales might be in Paris, and so on. Perhaps include photos of the people at each office. List local prices (if relevant). Be as creative as possible. Obtain links to a specific location page from authoritative sites in and about that locality. In your banner or footer (or elsewhere), use anchor text like "London" and "Paris" for the links that take people to the pages with information about the "London" and "Paris" offices.
Does that help?

My company has various offices around the world and we're in local search for most of them. This was done by submitting the site to Google Places for each location, including pages on the site for each office with a map, telephone number etc - all using structured data (http://schema.org/PostalAddress).
Google Places verifies your physical address by sending a postcard in the mail with a PIN which allows you to verify the existence of your business at that address so it's difficult to abuse.

Two Distinct Businesses, same address?
I have a client who shares a location with another business. That is, they are both distinct businesses with unique names and phone numbers but they both share space in their suite – i.e. half the desks in the space go to the one business, the other half belong to my client. Can I set them up with Google My Business with this shared address and suite number? Thanks

SEO And Images: 2014 Tips
What is a good "image" strategy? All I really know is to make sure to use images that you create yourself and/or images that are approved for free commercial use and add alt tags. Right now, just making sure all our pages have images and updating some of the lower quality ones would surely help us, but I'm hoping someone can add a little detail into how best to use images for seo, conversions and how to avoid slowing our site way down by adding more (we do have the smushit plugin which helps some). LOCAL SEO: Franchise --> One storefront. Multiple territory. Multiple listings?
An interesting problem came our way, and I'd love your help in solving it. An individual I'm chatting with owns and manages a number of territories of a service-based Franchise business around Eastern Iowa.**His territory covers multiple cities and zips. He services all of those places, but does not have a physical presence in all. There is one company office. But he has local numbers for each territory.**The corporate franchise's website is dynamic. It shows the 'local' number and information based on the visitor's location. Basically, little microsites for each franchise territory.Three years ago he set up individual Google Places pages for each territory, using a PO box address and the local phone numbers. The Google listings are set up not to display an address. The kick is -- those addresses are now expired. Those Google Local listings still exist, and drive considerable traffic in each target city. As you can imagine, this also causes havoc on his other citations. There are scattered (YP, Yahoo, Yelp, etc) listings for each address. Their name in GetListed brings up all five different addresses, each with a number of web properties already claimed. Now that I've offered to help, I need to determine the best way to move forward. Suspend the verified listings with hidden addresses and move to a single listing for the office location? We could add all of the zips in manually, but it would cover a very wide range, and could lose its rank in local SERPs. Even with a well-optimized description. And the local numbers would likely not show up. Keep the listings. Don't touch them at all. The owner is looking to maintain the look and feel of a local business in each of his territories. That is difficult to do with a single listing. Assuming we decide not to touch the active listings (option 2), what will we do for other listings? Do we claim a local Yahoo listing for each location? Just for the corporate office? Would love to hear how others have attacked the multi-territory franchise problem, or would in this case. Thanks!

Updating Over 100 Local Listings - Cleaning Local Profile and Upload Questions
Hello. I'm currently updating over 100 places in Google Local Listings They have approximately 300 listings already in the account, with approx. 100 of them already verified. The amount of 'True' locations is around 130. In order to provide maximum, appropriate NAP data, I need to update the 100 as well. So, my question is in multiple parts - 1. How do I override and update the current locations in bulk? It doesn't appear that there's a way. Every time I upload a datafeed, it gets a new listing. 2. Because of all the listings in various states of verification, (Over 200), is there an easy way just to clear them out that's NOT manual? 3. Is there a way to export all CURRENT locations? The datafeed download only contains items which are trying to be updated..there doesn't appear to be a way to export all current data. Thanks for any help you can provide about a project of this size is appreciated.

Practice Name vs. Dr. Name in Local Search
I wanted to get some opinions on an interesting situation for local search. Many doctors and dentists are found in one of two ways online: Their name and title, e.g. Dr. James A. Smith, MD Their practice name, e.g Smith Plastic Surgery, P.C Often sites like Healthgrades are providing data on the doctor him or herself, and the information can be tough to switch out. At the same time, there's a tendancy on the Dr's part to want to be listed as their practice name. Their site is often set up that way. How are you handling this kind of setup? Have you found a way to reliably associate (and format) a practice and doctor's name in a listing, in such a way that doesn't violate Google's quality guidelines? I know the drill for handling a doctor within a hospital, but this is a slightly different situation...

Video SEO - Why are my videos not being indexed?
Hello All, I work on a site that has a lot of videos. The trouble is none of them are ranking. Here is an example of a page with a video on. If you click the play button you will see But none of these videos are being indexed, as you can see here. Is it because these videos are just mp4 files, rather than being embedded players (like SEOmoz use for instance)? Would embedding videos through Viddler / Wistia / Youtube etc help? Or is there some other issue at work here? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich

Has Anyone Used CBS Local Pages?
CBS has a service that they offer to their advertisers called CBS Local Pages. Has anyone used this? It's about $1500 a month and basically they send "business data" to local listing platforms, this is similar to UBL and LocalEZE it seems. One of my associates subscribed to this and they're unsure of the value, they are paying $1500/mo for something that can be achieved with $125/year with localeze. Has anyone used this?

Google Local Result - wrong decription
A client's description in their Google Places result is incorrect. It looks as though it may have been cached several months ago with incorrect data. Note: By description I am referring to the text that appears directly under the URL and directly above the "places page" link on a results page, not the local listing "description". Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed? All the information on their local page is correct. The website's meta-description is correct. The organic results listing has the correct description. Any tips would be awesome. Thanks,
