Is the Google Local Descriptor compatible with MOZ Local?
-
If I'm understanding Google correctly, we can use a single descriptor as part of a business name, and to do so, you use the following format in the business name field:
Business Name - Descriptor
Is this correct? If so, is it not compatible with MOZ Local? I used the format above, and MOZ seems to see the descriptor as part of the business name, and won't let me verify. Is the best approach to using a descriptor to get verified first, then add it? Or will that mess other things up?

Thanks for clarifying things. The fact that Google is not an actual partner, despite the fact that you use them as an option validate listings, seems to be the key here. We'll try it the way you suggest, manually changing after validation (in the few situations where the client insists, or there are valid reasons for adding the level of detail).

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out! My name is Erin, and I'm on the Moz Help Team! Google isn't one of our partners, so we don't actually use their basic formatting. The formatting we use is compatible with the requirements of our partners (Axiom, Localeze, Factual, Foursquare, Best of the Web, Infogroup, and Superpages). When uploading your CSV to Moz Local, you'll want to follow these guidelines.
Once you purchase a listing through Moz Local, we push your data out to our partners. From there they push your data out to their partners, and so on, and so on.... There's a really great visual of how the local search ecosystem works here. Since it's considered a best practice I recommend you upload your listing with your actual business name, and keep the formatting that way moving forward. That said, if you really want to use Google's formatting, you can manually edit this in Google AFTER you've gone through the verification process with Moz Local. If you run into any issues with your CSV, just email us at help@moz.com
I'll leave this question marked as "unanswered" in case anyone else from the community wants to chime in! I hope this helps, and have a great day!
Erin

Setting up Moz Account for a franchise with no physical locations
OK, so technically we are not a franchise, but our structure is very similar, in that we have numerous areas or cities, within which there are numerous locations (all with separate landing pages). We need to closely track the performance of each area/city as a whole (like you would a franchise), and the individual locations within it. We have a home based office in each main area/city, though not for the purposes of meeting customers etc. We have www.domain.com/area-1/location-A, www.domain.com/area-1/location-B and then www.domain.com/area-2/location-A, www.domain.com/area-2/location-B etc etc. This means that we have a relatively small handful of keywords which are relevant to any location, apart from the addition of the location or city name, like "house cleaners in [location], home cleaning services in [location]. So, do I set up my campaigns as domain.com/Newcastle, domain.com/Manchester etc, have say 10 keywords based around house cleaning, and then add all the local areas within that area/campaign? If so, should I add my keywords - things like "house cleaners" "home cleaning" "domestic cleaning companies" etc. to a campaign for /Newcastle, then add locations within Newcastle such as Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc? Will this then allow us to track our rankings for "house cleaners in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}", "home cleaning in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}, "domestic cleaning companies in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}? Any help, general, specific is much appreciated! Many thanks Edward

"We were unable to validate the following listings with Google or Facebook"
Hi, I'm trying to submit the Moz Local service and it keeps saying unable to validate the listing even though our Facebook and Google accounts have been provided and match the listing. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems to be struggling to find our listing for some reason.

Has anyone used Moz local for their clients?
If you already have accounts with some of the local directories can you still use Moz local or is it just for business who have never claimed their business? I'd like to offer this as a service to clients but they will see it's Moz local and just do it themselves. Anyone know if there is a branded version coming soon?

Moz Local
Upon trying to Validate my Moz Local this error keeps appearing "We were unable to validate the following listings on either Google or Facebook Places." I have checked both of these accounts and all of the listings are accurate and up to date? Is there something that I am missing? Thank You !

Moz Local Problems
On the 9th I tried to get Moz Local, but it would not connect to the right g+ page. I've been told their working on it, but after a week...nothing. Has anyone else had this problem? if so, how long did it take for them to fix it? Thanks, Ruben P.S. Mozzers, if you respond, do not mark it as "answered." I need answers from customers who can give me a timeline from their experience. As nice as you all are, I'm over the generic support responses.
