Conversion analytics goals
-
Hello,
I have to configure my analytics goals for my SEO estrategy.
In Google Analytics I can choose between: destiny, duration, Pages/screens per session and event. But I don't have the best criteria for select each one. What are the best options for a content site and for a e - commerce?
Otherwise, I wanna know which is a good bounce rate for a content site? And what is a good Avg. Page Load Time (sec)?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Arkix,
Get ready to dig in! Setting up goals for an ecommerce website is more advanced than using the default goal settings in GA. You'll want to setup:
Enhanecd ecommerce tracking - Every ecommerce website should have this integrated, imo. The integration here highly depends on your website's environment (i.e. WordPress, Shopify, custom CMS, ect). You'll want to Google "Google Enhanced Ecommerce Integration for [your website environment here]"
Funnels - Setup the funnels that are specific to your site. Knowing where your potential customers abandon your checkout process will be critical to optimizing your conversions.
I also suggest setting up an email signup goal. Email is a very important aspect of ecommerce websites (i.e. shopping cart abandonment).
If you must know a 'good bounce rate' for your site, then allow GA to track your site and gather enough traffic. Then, look into the GA Benchmark reports, which will let you know what the industry benchmarks are for sites related to your own. Otherwise, concentrate on lowering bounce rates on important (i.e. revenue generating, revenue assisting) pages and identify high bounce rate (as compared to your site average) pages to optimize.
A good page load time is a page load speed that is lower than your competitors. Don't worry about hitting X seconds, first get below your competitors. Then, consistently optimize the page load speed to be as low as possible.

For an e-commerce website I would be setting up a goal conversion on your checkout success page. Allowing you to easily monitor your sales and whereabouts they are coming from, also what products are selling best.
For content site it could be performing a certain action for example downloading a pdf or document, staying on a page for a specific length of time etc. Its entirely down to what you want to monitor and what you consider a 'goal on your site'
Page load time should be no more than 7 seconds (roughly). It will vary across browsers and devices.
Bounce rates vary between industry, i would be worried about anything above 60%

Event/Goal Tracking For EKM Powershop
Hi There, I have a client with EKM powershop. I am trying to figure out a way to either setup goal tracking (however I don't know what the final destination page is) or event tracking. I know I can do the ecommerce tag thing, but I am always worried about breaking the tracking code. Any ideas?

Huge Analytics discrepancy when I turned off Analytics Module & Turned on GA via GTM
Hello, I was running universal GA via a GA Drupal module. We setup Google Tag Manager and setup a GA tag to run through GTM. When we pushed the GTM container live our Real Time was at around 1900 and when we turned off the Drupal module the Real Time was reporting around 1100. After 24 hours the sessions for that day were about 100k lower than what they usually are. Any ideas Why the larger discrepancy? Any places that are obvious to look? *I didn't setup the original Drupal GA module, nor do I know who did. Thanks

Universal Analytics: Why does Google Organic appear as Direct traffic?
Hi there, When I enter the site via Google Search and follow myself via Real-Time Analytics I appear an organic visitor (which is good). When I browse and visit the site I still am an organic visitor. However, as soon as I fill in the contact form (gravity forms) and land on the "thank you page" I appear as a direct visitor with Google as the source. Since I have the thank you page set-up as a goal, Analytics incorrectly attributes these conversions to the direct medium instead of the organic medium. The tracking code has been installed on all the pages and all conversions are being recorded. What is going on?

Google Analytics question
Hi, I recently relaunched my site on a wordpress CMS. The relaunch has gone well except for a category of traffic within Google Analytics which is referral traffic from google.co.uk (its a UK site) which has dropped off hugely. The non-paid search traffic from google.co.uk is the same or better than it was. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between referral traffic from google.co.uk and non-paid search traffic from google.co.uk. Thanks for your help. Ben

Google Analytics censoring keywords?
The top keyword on our real time GA is showing as a blank. There's a topic of a sexual nature in our talk threads trending on Twitter right now which is driving a lot of traffic and I'm wondering whether Google have censored the keyword. The next few keywords are our name and variants of. Could there be some other reason why this word isn't showing up? Has anyone else experienced this?

Drop In Analytics
So I have a site that was getting about 200 hits (not a lot). They came to me and asked to do SEO. There were over 50 pages in HTML format so I created header/footers and changed the .html pages to .php. I set forwards up in the htaccess and everything. I did everything that I was suppose to. Now when I go to the analytics it almost looks like it lost all it's traffic from the keywords it was ranked in. Any ideas on why?
