Keyword Research and Optimization:
Conduct thorough keyword research to identify popular search terms related to countryside farms in your target market. Since real estate is inherently local, optimizing for local SEO is crucial. Ensure that your Google My Business listing is accurate and up-to-date. Encourage customer reviews, as positive reviews can improve your local rankings. Use location-specific keywords (e.g., "countryside farms in [Your Location]") throughout your content.Mobile Optimization:
With an increasing number of users accessing the internet via mobile devices, it's essential to have a mobile-friendly website. Google also considers mobile-friendliness as a ranking factor. Make sure your website is responsive and provides an excellent user experience on all devices.Link Building and Outreach:
Build high-quality backlinks to your real estate website. Reach out to local publications, industry-related websites, and blogs to request guest post opportunities or mention your countryside farm listings. These authoritative backlinks can improve your website's credibility in search engines' eyes.Social Media Integration:
Promote your countryside farm listings on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Use high-quality images and engaging captions to attract potential buyers' attention. Social signals can indirectly impact your SEO rankings.Regular Updates and Maintenance:
Keep your website updated with fresh content, new listings, and the latest market trends. Regularly review and update your SEO strategies to stay ahead of the competition.Remember that SEO is an ongoing process, and results may take time to materialize. By consistently implementing these strategies, you can improve your real estate website's search engine visibility and attract a targeted audience interested in countryside farms. Hey @Dakota_G
If you want to increase organic traffic to your real estate website and compete with larger platforms like Zillow and Realtor, here are some strategies and must-have SEO pages you can consider implementing:
Optimize your website for local search: Since real estate is location-specific, focus on optimizing your website for local search. Include location-based keywords in your page titles, meta descriptions, content, and URLs. Create dedicated pages targeting specific cities or neighborhoods you operate in.
Create high-quality and unique content: Develop informative and engaging content that appeals to your target audience. Consider creating blog posts, articles, and guides related to real estate topics, such as buying and selling tips, market trends, home improvement ideas, and local area guides. This helps establish your website as a valuable resource and can attract organic traffic.
Utilize long-tail keywords: Long-tail keywords are specific phrases that users may search for when looking for properties. Incorporate long-tail keywords into your content to target more qualified leads. For example, instead of just "real estate," target keywords like "luxury homes for sale in [city]" or "best neighborhoods for families in [city]."
Optimize your listings: If you have property listings on your website, optimize them for search engines. Include relevant keywords in the title, description, and content of each listing. Add high-quality images and provide detailed information about the property, including its features, amenities, and location.
Implement on-page SEO techniques: Ensure that your website follows best practices for on-page SEO. Optimize your website's loading speed, improve its mobile-friendliness, use descriptive URLs, create unique and compelling meta tags, and incorporate internal linking to enhance the user experience and search engine visibility.
Leverage social media: Establish a strong presence on social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Share your listings, blog posts, and informative content on these platforms to expand your reach, engage with potential clients, and drive traffic back to your website.
Optimize for mobile devices: With the increasing use of mobile devices, it's essential to have a responsive and mobile-friendly website. Ensure that your website is optimized for mobile viewing and offers a seamless user experience across different devices.
Build backlinks: Earn high-quality backlinks from reputable websites to improve your website's authority and rankings. Consider reaching out to local businesses, industry influencers, and relevant real estate websites for potential link-building opportunities. Guest posting on industry-related blogs can also help generate backlinks.
Create a dedicated page for sellers: Develop a page that specifically targets sellers and provides valuable information on the selling process, tips for preparing a property for sale, and the benefits of choosing your real estate services. This page should showcase your expertise and offer a compelling reason for sellers to choose you over larger platforms.
Optimize your Google My Business listing: Claim and optimize your Google My Business listing to improve your local search visibility. Provide accurate business information, including your address, phone number, and business hours. Encourage satisfied clients to leave positive reviews to enhance your online reputation.
Remember, building organic traffic takes time and consistent effort. Monitor your website's performance using analytics tools, make data-driven optimizations, and adapt your strategies based on the results you see.

Hi Dakota_G,
This is a good topic and you've come up with some good ideas to get started on your content development. You might find some of the suggestions in this article useful, as well: https://placester.com/real-estate-marketing-academy/real-estate-local-seo-tips/
Competing with a company like Zillow, if you are marketing a small-to-medium realty firm, may not be a realistic goal to set, at least not for the top search phrases you'd probably most hope to rank for. You may need to think of sites like that as places to get listed rather than to surpass in the SERPs for core terms.
So, where does this leave a company like the one you are trying to market? Typically:
-
Competing for longer-tail searches
-
Competing for something other than the "10 blue links", like featured snippets, video results, image results, local pack results, etc.
Some of the ideas you've had, like providing weather results, are probably not going to be worth your time. People already have apps for that, or get their info on that right inside Google's results. But if you can come up with the best possible answers for questions that people are asking and that haven't already been covered with a perfect answer by a huge powerhouse publication, you might be able to start seeing some more visibility.
I would identify long tail terms that directly relate to your geographic and industry market. Do the searches for these terms. See what comes up. Look at featured snippet opportunities, People Also Ask boxes, Answer The Public, Google Q&A queries, Quora topics, etc. I'd begin gathering direct feedback from your firm's clients. What are their FAQs? Investigate FAQ schema to answer these queries.
Finally, I would look at those top sites that are outranking yours and see if there are opportunities for you to be interviewed by them as an expert, to be listed on them, to guest post on them and similar activities so that you at least have a presence on platforms you can't surpass.
I hope these suggestions help.

Unsolved GMB Local SEO question
I am trying to diagnose how one particular competitor is smoking us in local rankings. I came across a text field “Service Details' within Google My Business Services. This allows me to put in a brief description of each service we offer. My thought is that this could be a good place for keywords. That said, the descriptions are not public facing (or to the best of my knowledge) so I am reluctant to do all the work for nothing. I am wondering if anyone has filled these out and if there were any noticeable results. Any insight is appreciated

Legalicy of videos used for local SEO
Hello, A client of mine wants to use someone else's video (video of how to train your dog) in his pages for "dog training (His City)" The person who makes the how to train your dog videos sells DVDs and that's how he makes his money if that matters. We want to make sure we're giving the proper credit and doing this OK. What do we need to keep in minds for legalities and respecting the author? Thanks.

SEO and IP based content
Hello, We are building a guide/directory that will service multiple cities across Canada. Currently, our home page will detect your IP, and display local content on the home page. Although we feel this is incredibly useful to the end user, we are worried about how search engines will interpret our home page. In addition to our home page, should we have landing pages for each city that we are in? and should we follow site structure like this? www.thesite.com/vancouver So if a user from Vancouver goes to our home page, they will see Vancouver related content, but how would a search engine see the home page? We would like to know the best approach to placing well for searches in different Canadian cities. Most of our searches will be city specific: Calgary widgets, Vancouver widgets, etc. Thanks

Multi location strategy - tracking keywords
I have very recently taken on a local business to manage and quite new to all of this. Your posts on the subject of multi-location SEO have been incredibly useful and the original blogpost on Local landing pages by Miriam Ellis is in my reading list and I am sure will be revisited regularly. I have another question on this obviously complex subject, what to do about tracking your keywords in MOZ Pro? I have subscribed and set up my main keywords and linked each to the 40 different service locations for our business, which is based in a single location but services a wide area, however this now gives me 400 keywords to track, which seems way too much and unmanageable. Can you give me some advice on how to make this much more effective? Many thanks, Sarah

Local SEO Best Practices for 2,000+ 'location' service area business
Hi Moz Community! We operate a business where we have a network of 2,000+ technicians around the country who help people repair their mobile phones. These techs do the fixing at the customer's location, making them service area businesses. Even after scouring all of the go-to places on local SEO, I'm struggling to find best practices for this type of situation - the fact that our techs are operating in service areas presents a number of challenges. The biggest one, it seems, is that inevitably service areas are going to overlap. When I talked to a Google rep on this he said this "might" cause our locations to get de-listed and we'd just have to test and find out. Other challenges include the fact that we cannot bulk upload the service areas of our techs, and we cannot bulk verify - meaning there is a ton of work to do at our scale. Any suggestions on where to go to find resources on this specific topic, or an example of someone doing this well we can model? Thanks everyone!
