Ad Words Advice
-
Looking to start an Ads Word Campaign. Any words of advice?? How can I use SEoMoz to help with Adwords?
-
yep... Adwords discussions generally center around keywords and budgets... if the bidder is not diligently tracking margins, costs, conversions and bidding my bet is that he is losing his shirt and doesn't know it.
Lots of people who are doing that math quit doing Adwords because they discover that the competition is insane.
-
Know your margins and keep an eye on your cost/conversion (assuming you have something to convert).
-
Here are a few quick words of advice for starting a brand new AdWords campaign -
-
Select only "Search Network" and don't bother with the "Display Network" for the time being.
-
Only use Exact Match keywords, meaning your ad will only show up if the exact phrase you are bidding on is searched by the user. You can designate Exact Match keywords by putting [brackets] around the keyword.
-
Start out with a small budget, like 5-10 bucks a day and keep a close eye on the performance. Gradually increase the budget once you get an idea for which keywords are performing well.

Create custom landing pages that are relevant to your ad copy and set a budget. Make sure to do plenty of keyword research and utilize positive and negative keywords on each campaign so your ad is not showing up for irrelevant searches.
I agree with Kevin on measuring everything and using a unique phone number to track your leads.
-
The best advice I can give is to measure everything. Analytics and Adwords integrate nicely so it makes it much easier. Also, try to assign a dedicated phone number for any advertising you do so you can isolate where the leads are coming from.

Can you rank for copyrighted/trademarked words that became generic terms?
Hi, As everyone knows, lots of generic terms we use everyday (depends from one country to another obviously) are trademark terms and technically protected.

Some examples here and there. So my question is ... are we free to rank (or try to at least!) for some of these keywords?
Some of these keywords vastly outranked their original generic terms and there is little to no value trying to get traffic from the latter. More specifically what about the keywords such as spin, spinning etc.? Thanks!

I want to update the Key words in my title tag. But i'm afraid of what might happen:(
Hello everyone, My Insurance agency ranks high in searches, but the key words in our Title Tag aren't very well optimized at all. It's too long, in the wrong order, there's duplicate's and the Key words aren't even in there?! So, I want to update the home page, as well as all the other pages that are having the same problem. I'm hoping that because we've been ranked in the top 3 for over 3 years and I blog 3-4 times a month, and all my Off-page seo is on point, I shouldn't see to much of a drop? I'm changing my title from this: General liability, Commercial building, Workers Comp, Truck, Auto Insurance in Dallas, Texas - - Thumann Agency **To this: **Business & Home Insurance Dallas, Texas | Thumann Agency. Please share you thoughts with me, good idea or not? Many thanks in advance! )

How can I tell if Google considers two words to mean the same thing
For example, "wives" and "brides" They're often interchangeable, but given context they can still mean fairly different things. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Exact Long Tail Keyword Wording?
Hi everyone! I'm currently doing long tail keyword research and I'm coming across keywords such as deer wall print for nursery for the main keyword "deer wall print" which doesn't really incorporate too well into a into a grammatically correct paragraph. Can I use something like **deer wall print for your nursery **or deer wall print is perfect for in a nursery? Does it have to be exact reproduction if I am trying to rank for a long tail keyword term/phrase?

General Advice or Strategies on optimizing Non-Plural and Plural
Moz, I was just looking for any insights, advice, personal experiences in optimization for keywords that have Non Plural and Plural variants, Basically from my keyword and traffic research i have gathered the majority of the search traffic i am looking to gain is coming through the singular spelling of the keyword i am currently optimizing and updating our page for, From experience with this we have always ranked for the general non plural quantity page and brought traffic from both, My Example : Our lollipops page which has meta information targeted towards 'Lollipops' rather than the singular 'Lollipop' but links to Singular information pages that are targeting the singular word 'Lollipop' This way seemed to make sense as it wouldn't be good for user experience to have titles and headers on a page listing multiple products as a single instance, the content of the page would mostly reflect this targeting also, To make things worse the page language and content is in German where their seems to be many ways of saying the same word from my understanding, Am i doing the right thing in not sacrificing my user experience to target the singular version of the word ? Just some advice please? Apologies i struggled to get my question across well, Thanks James

[Insert specialist area] solicitors - keyword advice
Hi There, I work in legal services and the most common search terms in our field always contain 'solicitors' (or lawyers) after specialist areas e.g. landlord solicitors, property solicitors, divorce solicitors etc. Naturally, we have a page dedicated to each of these specialist areas but we haven't optimised our pages with keywords. Is there any known issues with repeatedly optimising our pages across the site using these keywords? Thanks, Stuart

Specific Keyword Ranking Advice
Hi Folks, We're trying to optimize the page (http://alabu.com/goat-milk-soap/) for the keyword "goat milk soap". Our page used to rank #1 before Panda (actually our home page did, not the page I'm trying to optimize on now). Now we're around rank 25. I've followed all the guidelines for on-page optimization I know, and I've done everything I can think of. We're currently executing a link building campaign but that obviously takes time. Does anyone have any advice? Is there anything else I can do to improve our ranking? Thanks, Hal
