PR web anchor text

We are submitting a press release today for a contest we are doing and it is actually news worth compared to a lot of things on PR web. Our question is PRweb.com still worth using? If we use them should we put an anchor text in it? We have one link to our home page and one to the contest page and we were going to have one link to a different page. But will linking to the third page with an anchor text be to much?

I'd suggest keeping it to 2 links. That' s just my gut talking, though. Less can be more.
I have some inbound links from press releases I published on PRWeb from 2006 that are PR3 now and don't seem be hurting me at all. They occasionally send traffic to my site.
I can tell you're smart enough to steer clear of the half-million or so free Press release services that host web spam. You would never hire a service or buy software for posting to "10,000 press release sites" for $4.99. If you're willing to spend $50 to $200 to put your story on a curated release site like PRWeb where it will be edited, and where it may be picked up by bloggers, then that sounds legitimate to me. Those links shouldn't bite.
I never post to a PR site that doesn't give me the right to remove the content at some point in the future. Just in case...

If PRWEB is still worth using, is a pretty loaded question and answer in my opinion - The advice I would give specifically to the links, is to use naked, or brand name URLS -

This statement alone, (which I agree with, and reason I stopped Press Releases as an "SEO" tactic many moons ago) would be my answer to whether it is still a VIABLE option, but once again it is a loaded question and answer.

Hello,
All these techniques were so useful few months ago, as Google has started continuously updating Google Panda with Penguin, saying that something is perfect now but you may be punished for the same in future. For me linking your site with anchor text on any blog isn't prohibited, but 2 links are enough and try minimize anchor text link practice.

Over Optimised Anchor Text (Internal & external)
Hi First - is it possible for internal anchor text to be considered 'over optimised' in terms of diversity or does that just apply to external backlinks ? For example If you have a main site section/page thats about a service you offer and you call the page this service and the URL this service and then link to it from many internal locations (but in a logical useful manner not just for the sake of it) using this service/keyword as the link anchor text i take it this WONT ever be considered over optimised anchor text since is completely in context, makes sense, is useful and after all is what the page/section is called (so would be strange to call it and link to it via any other term) ? Second - I have a project who's backlink profile is nice and diverse and could by no means be considered over optimised on a domain level. However looking at page level a main site section/page (as above) has only one back link with exact match anchor text from the BOTW directory, so in regard to that page keyword rich anchor text from this one backlink is at 100%. However the anchor text is what the page/section is called (title and url). I presume that this is also unlikely to be considered over optimised (since makes sense, is logical helpful and would be strange to name it anything else) or could it be considered over optimised ? Should I request backlinks to use anchor text that is page specific?
I work for a community college, with fairly high seo for the college in general. We have no budget for advertising specific programs, so we are trying to optimize individual pages on the website, e.g., physical therapy assistant, welding, etc. Does it make a difference if other websites use our main url, college name, or the college name plus specific program as the anchor text? Also, I'm seeing some posts here recommending to avoid lots of directory listings. I assume that doesn't apply to industry specific directories, like nursing school directories, right? I'm still a very new newbie and appreciate your advice.

What should be the anchor text in a footer?
For anchor text that is in a footer, should it be a keyword or the domain name www.example.com or Keyword for Example.com? We have a parent company that has other subsidiary companies and they want to have links in the footer that has domain name for link building purposes. But we want them to have keywords in the anchor text instead of the domain name?

Anchor text
Hi there, I am looking at creating some back links into my website using guest blogging, be it product reviews, competitions or writing the post myself. I had a look at my competitors back link profile, all I can say is that they all look artificial (paid for) the article itself reads well, however when I see something like this: 'If you house got burgled and you never had home insurance in place, you could lose thousands of pounds of household goods' It just looks paid for, the question is if I am placing a guest post on a blog, what is best practice in making the link look more natural? I am working on patio umbrellas keyword to achieve top 3 ranking in Google. I have achieved top 30 ranking with help of on page optimization and want to achieve top 3 ranking with help of link building. Today, I was checking SEO web directories on SEOmoz. Now, I can't make any changes on live website exclude content. So, I have only one option to deal with link building.
