Local seo yoast plug in
-
https://yoast.com/wordpress/local-seo/
Anyone used?
Any good?
I have purchased as Yoast seems to be a good all rounder.
I am targetting geographical and my question is:
Is there any seo benefit ?It isnt a requirement of the plug in to add a physical addess ( you can add that it isnt and put a town)
I did a quick test http://www.themorrisagency.co.uk/locations/kent-band-hire/
In conjunction with an area page would Mr Google smile with glee or get his big red marker out ?
Cheers as always!

The plug-in is something I use on quite a few clients sites.
I really like it because of its ease of use and the way it looks. However you can do the same thing with schema but for the money it is a great buy you can do everything that is needed to provide your business hours, address, phone number and it codes it perfectly allowing you to work on other things.
I agree with Miriam,
you must have a brick-and-mortar address and do face-to-face business in order to have a Google local listing.
Nice work finding that information. In addition you may want to look at
getlocal.org now owned by Moz has a lot of local knowledge.
For citations check out Whitespark.ca
you can get a discount from Moz.com/perks
hope this helps,
Thomas

Hi Daniel,
It sounds as if you already found an answer to your original question, so that's good.
Regarding citation building - yes, this is something to be handled with care. The most important thing is to ensure that your NAP (business name, address, phone) is the same every place your business is listed around the web. That is also correct that you should only be building citations for physical locations. So, a plumber in city A who serves cities B-E is still only going to build one listing for his business on each platform. He's not going to build them for cities where he isn't physically located.
Hope this makes sense.

I have just finished reading a very long post from another so I think that has answered my questions.
If I am right:
Citation scoring is quite involved and it needs to be done well to get benefit or pay the price.
I am setting my company up for franchising so, until then, no local listings unless they have the addresses and other things to go with it...right?

Question About Replying to Yelp Reviews and SEO
Hi guys, I was wondering if responding to negative yelp reviews would in turn boost yelps seo ranking for my business name. I'm trying to direct attention away from yelp being that we've had little success having real clients get through the review filter. We unfortunately have nasty competition that seems to be leaving fake negative reviews incessantly.

How can I change my Google Business to be a non local business?
Hey guys, Do you know how to change my Google business account to be a non local business? I want my Google Knowledge Graph to be clean and neat like this. Does it mean that this company doesn't claim the business? Will removing the address from the Google My Business solve it (which I don't know whether we can take down the address)? Thanks

Best Tips to Get In the Local Pack
Apart from making sure your business information is 100% accurate, etc., what are your best tips to get a company ranking in the local pack? Do they need to rank well organically to be considered for the local pack or is it solely based on the consistency of their GMB page?

How to create a filter view to view local search traffic in google analytics ?
Id like to be able to drill down into the local search traffic for a site in google analytics, i know i can get some analytics data via google's local places dashboard, but id like to see a more detailed chart in google analytics. I read this article and installed this filtered view dashboard from Local U, but it seems its stopped working since it was originally published back in July 13. Is there a more up to date method for capturing this data ?

Local Search and Schema.org - Do I need to tag up the "same as" Property to all my citations to help with local rankings?
Hi All, We have implemented Schema.og on our website and this also includes the local business schema for all of our branches. However I've read an article (see below ) which says we should also be doing "same as " property and linking this to ALL of our citations such as google plus page , yelp , bing places, city search etc etc as this will help with citations. I am wondering if anyone has done this ? - And if so , has this helped with local rankings etc - I don't really want to invest the extra costs to get this done if I can't find anywhere that says its made a difference - The article from whitespark - says - "when you create new citations for your business (or for your client’s), it’s a waiting game hoping that Google and the other search engines will find your new citations quickly and make the connection between those listings, the business, and the website. The “sameAs” property can help make that process much quicker _and _easier. Schema.org explains that the “sameAs” property is used along with the “URL of a reference Web page that unambiguously indicates the item's [or business’] identity.” By using the “sameAs” property in your NAP schema markup, you can tell search engines that the business you’ve marked up is the same one found at a certain citation URL Of course, Google+ isn’t the only important citation source. There’s also Bing Places, Facebook, Yelp, Citysearch and a few others. The nice thing about many schema.org properties is that you can use them multiple times in your markup." I am wondering what peoples thoughts were and whether they has implemented this and if so , did it help ? thanks Pete | [sameAs](http://schema.org/sameAs) | URL | URL of a reference Web page that unambiguously indicates the item's identity. Do Citations help will all local rankings/Pages on my website or just the page it's linked to
Hi All, My ecommerce site has different category/landing pages for each of my branches . I'm currently getting some more citations done as wondered the following Is it a general rule to say, that the more citations you have the better as long as they are consistent and free? Given that I have different categories /landing pages showing the NAP of my individual branches along with unique content, should all these extra citations help with local rankings across my whole site or is it usually just helping the specific localized webpage it's pointing to ? I can get a company to help me do my citations but to do all the branches, it is going to be quite expensive. Is citations quite a big individual SEO factor in local search as opposed to on page seo factors etc etc. Any advice greatly appreciated. thanks Peter

Is there any way to stop yahoo local from adding names to local listings?
I've been coming across many yahoo listings that have a "First Name, Last Name-Business Name" as the listing title including one that I came across that includes my name and my company's business. There's no reason why I should be listed on the listing. Yahoo, says that they pull data from other sources: Localeze ExpressUpdateUSA YP Yext But none of those sites have my name connected to them other than in the account information. Yahoo, doesn't seem to have a good way to fix their listings. I sent their customer support an email about it but I'm not expecting to get much out of it. Does anyone know of a good way to get around/fix this?
